I was made false promises during my interview and hired under false pretenses because they’re so desperate for staff. The person who was training me for my position was very rude and condescending and made me cry on multiple occasions and I was never once apologized to. I contacted HR and my supervisors about the matter and nothing was done about it. Most of my coworkers had such a negative attitude that it made me miserable working here. There is little room for advancement in the company and the pay is absolutely terrible. I was told that my college degree in health care administration was not going to be used when considering my pay for a receptionist position because the position did not require a degree. I ended up getting hired with another local healthcare facility who paid me $2.50 more for the same job so I quit after a month working here and it was the best decision I’ve made.

This facility is run by chaos! The DON and Nurse managers are untrained, they don't follow up on reports from staff. The death rate is EXTREMELY high, as well as rate of falls and injuries. The aide to patient ratio is state reportable! Most days staffing was 2 aides and one LPN to 40 residents. Your overworked for low pay! 5-10 years of exp still only gets you the standard $9.52 an hr! This place should be closed down or taken over immediately! I witnessed 9 deaths over just a 3 month period alone, on average 1 a month thereafter. This place is a butcher shop! Don't send your family  there unless you want them to die within the next few months. do not work there either! Full of workplace drama and inappropriate advances from male staff! management does NOTHING about it!

I experienced instances of poor management and lack of consistency & professionalism on several occaaions. Resources and training not properly provided to new-hires including providers. My training consisted of other co-workers putting together the training with a new team each day or up to 2 or 3 teams in a day during training, made coworkers frustrated to try and fit it in to a regular workload. Following several different co-workwrs methods for data entry was leaving a lot of room for error since some weren't doing things properly in the EMR or otherwise. Training was just very unofficial and caused stress on everyone including providers. Policies and documents are all on work computers and there are so many files they are hard to locate specific policies or even go over all at once, they are very unorganized.

Using individual skills and teamwork to ensure each and every resident receives proper care and attention to detail as far as individual care plans and individual needs.  Staff generally work well together under stressful situations as far as time management, communication, and daily behaviors.  Putting a smile on residents and families faces knowing that the resident is being cared for and needs are met in timely and caring manner.

If you are looking for a place to get the feeling of not being appreciated and possibly stabbed in the back, then you have found your dream job.The facility has poor management as well as an HR department that doesn't see the writing on the wall. If you are an employee who is being bullied by your manager, you will have no resources to turn to. It becomes a lonely environment, so have thick skin! There is one administrator who has worked there so long that they allow her to mistreat and bully the weaker staff. They need to fire her or send her to management training.

I worked here for many years after becoming a nurse and learned a lot from many different staff that had been there for a long time. Certain management was great and others were not so good, but that happens at any place! I think that the pay was competitive and reasonable. There wasn’t much increase annually but they did give discounts every year for amusement park passes and rental cars and hotel rentals. The benefits such as insurance weren’t as expensive back at that time but I’m sure it is different now. I enjoyed it there because it was a small community hospital and everyone knew each other.

Management is terrible. Lowest paying health organization in the area. They do not appreciate staff when we are overworked and underpaid. We work 1 nurse and 2 aides for a floor of almost 40! Insane and unsafe! There is only 1 RN manager that will actually help out staff. The rest will not help. No flexibility in the schedule, we’re told we can’t have set schedules so work/life balance is extremely hard. Administration is terrible! Favoritism is very alive here, if you’re a favorite of someone in administration you’re set to get whatever you want. Retaliation is also going on here whenever you report unfair and unjust behavior of management or administration. 

I worked at the Huntington facility.  The residents were great but the facility seemed to be extremely understaffed.  As a student, I still needed some direction and required a CNA with me at all times because I was not yet certified. Instead, they sent us out on our own taking care of about 10 residents on our own, illegally.  I expressed my concern about not being ready or legally able to do so but was ignored.  Some coworkers clearly did not enjoy their job and took it out on the residents.

Perhaps this was just the particular wing I was in -- the rest of the facility seemed great.  I just couldn't stand being associated with a group of people that treated residents with disrespect and disdain.

After a decade of work as a Consultant, new management came in and began the process of cleaning house. This included the people who made this a very special place to work. Subsequently, the morale of EVERYONE in this facility is beyond salvaging at this time. On the upside, the Facility is the cleanest place I have ever worked at.....Housekeeping hits it out of the Park !!!! The Doctors and Nurses come on board and leave within a couple years like clockwork. Finger Lakes Health claims they strive to hire only the best, yet they have a way of making the best feel devalued enough to leave.

While working here there was one thing I noticed. We are extremely understaffed! 2 CNA's for 30+ residents. Then youre expected to work 12+hours a day. Theres only one nurse or LPN on a unit of 30+ residents. You are expected to have 30 million arms by the supervisors. Passing trays are top priority. So if you have a resident on the toilet they are basically forced to wait a half an hour until they can get off. Lets not even mention the fact that therapy of any kind superscedes everything else. The staff are overworked and the residents arent really happy since we basically are forced to run in their room, change them and run out.
