Most of the workday in the bank lives in the mundane: you clock in, you provide your customer service, in your best customer service voice and with your best customer service face - but this is not to say that the position is without stress. Even as a teller, your responsibilities are hefty: not only are you beholden to your customer and their financial well-being, you are also at great risk as the potential target of attempted fraud. People try some interesting strategies to acquire money. As a financial assistant, I learned many intricate procedures through which bank business is conducted, not to mention the nuanced understanding of financial law that I've gained, both through active job training and simply working the job. 
Management is fairly hands-off here, and by that I mean upper management will not have a physical presence in your job, only a clerical one. As an employee of a bank branch, you'll have rules upon rules upon rules delivered to and bestowed upon you, sometimes on a daily basis, and naturally these rules are developed by people that do not work the job you work, and sometimes never have - this can be quite frustrating. 
The hardest part of this job comes in dealing with the unpredictable nature of your customers, and it's not just about the people you don't know. Sometimes what is most surprising is the behavior of the people you think you know the best. Having said that, the best part of this job (far and away) is the opportunity to connect with your customer while you work. Sometimes these connections can even become friendships. 

Management gave you some training, but gave you the freedom to learn on your own. They provided faith and trust in you with minimual supervision, yet would take the time to answer any questions or inquiries. I was allowed my own office, my own organizational system, and was able to use my own time management schedule. A typical day for me consisted of typing any loans needed, ordered security documents, credit checks, made loan advances as needed, checked loan account file maintenance for any discrepencies and made sure it balanced. I would do any extra duties needed from supervisor and the scan documents and file. I also was in charge of saftey deposit boxes. When bank tellers were in a bind I would pitch in. If a customer needed assistance with their loans, accounts, or general questions, I would pitch in if a CSR was not available. As you may be able to tell I was somewhat of a Jack of all trades, because I started as a CSR for 1 year and then promoted to loan assistant. What I didn't know how to do I made every effert to learn and was aloud this freedom by management. Co-workers all got along well making a pleasant environment to work in.
The hardest part of my job was knowing I would never be allowed to advance further without finishing my college degree but this was not possible at the time. The most enjoyalble part of my job was being able to work in loans. I was the only processor and this let me handle all the paperwork and learn all aspects of creating, preparing, and maintaining the loan. I was also enjoyed explaining and answering questions to clients.

•	Bottom line responsibility to develop functional requirements that supported overall strategy, goals and objectives, and develop and document the functional requirement documents
•	Was responsible for creating and reviewing business requirements and functional specifications 
•	Took bottom line responsibility in creating and reviewing project schedules, project documentation and test plan
•	Intricately involved in Business Process Flow development, Business Process Modeling
•	Created test scripts and test cases based on business requirements, worked with development and QA teams to carry out the tests and document all test results
•	Conducted User Acceptance Testing
•	Created user manuals and conducted training for the production support personnel

This is the kind of place that saves your mistakes for when you want a raise or advancement. They blatantly tell people with unrelated college educations that they will advance them as soon as a position opens up, and they will take "interviews" to seem fair. The only employees that advance beyond that are those that make friends with management, and it was obvious that socializing after work was very important because everyone at the main office kept getting covid from going out together after work. Customers can call, but they rarely get a hold of anyone because anyone above a teller status can be out of the office and ignore most voicemails. Employees are also forced to break laws for certain (rich) customers. They're always hiring because it's honestly a terrible place to work. If it comes down to this place or another that's offering something similar, take the other job. 

Started out as teller for a couple of years, moved onto opening accounts, small individual loans and moved into commercial lending with some SBA experience.
A typical day would always be professional, personable and making the most in a busy branch.
What I learned was following all compliance regulations with FDIC.
Management was always great!!!  Our branch was known as the place all other employees wanted to be.
My co-workers are still some of my best friends even through all these years.
The hardest part of the job was multi-tasking 4 different positions at once.  That is when you start knowing what is a priority and making sure each customer was happy.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the bank itself.  The bank treated all employees with respect no matter what level of position you worked.

A typical day at work is doing quick transactions for the customer and answering any problems they may be having with there accounts. I also answer phones and help transfer the caller to the right people to help them if i can not assist them. I have learned allot about banking that I previously didn't have. Allot of my customers I see at least once a week and others more frequently. However, after each visit, I am better able to help assist with there banking. I work with a great group of people that are willing to help and stay late to make sure the customers needs are meet. The hardest part of the job is not being able to have the full range of duties that higher posititons offer. The most enjoyable part is getting to know the customers and helping them get the most out of there bank account. Making them more knowelgeable about how the bank works and how it can help them.

My typical day at work was being able to help customers with any transaction and leaving the bank satisfied. I have learned that every customer has a different personality and at times may be rude but I kept my composure and work on the problem until customer was satisfied. Managing
your time to do the extra work given to you in between customers kept your day busy. I have always worked in customers service and has given me the opportunity to meet other people and has been an enjoyable part of the job. There is nothing better then seeing a customer leave the bank with a smile on their face knowing they have been treated with respect. As far as co-workers, I believe in teamwork to get the job done and correct. It is satisfying to know that at the end of the day you have balance all your transactions and the hardest part of the job has been completed with no problems.

During the initial 90 days, it was fine.  Gradually worked into the position.  Once everything settled in, the boss became increasingly difficult to work for.  Couldn't take holidays off as they were "reserved" for management and employees were told that they didn't "earn that right".  Not a good ol' boys network, but a good ol' girls network.  Favoritism was rampant throughout the bank culture.
As far as working for my boss went, they were quick to anger and slow to forget.  They would burn out employees within 18 months, repeating the cycle on a number of occasions.  The workload was better suited for two individuals instead of just one. Countless projects were assigned without any specific direction other than "just get it done."
I would NOT recommend working there.

My time at First Community Bank was amazing.  I worked in two different departments each department had great teams that worked together.  

I've had the pleasure to travel to other locations for the bank and meet other employees.  I was on a team that in SC we bought out several banks and was able to help convert them over to the First Community Bank System.

When I gave my notice due to moving I did face to face with the CEO and CFO of the bank because of the respect I had for them an the respect I was given from each person.  I was told if I ever come back to the area I had a job.  

I'm looking for another great environment to work in but also to show what I have to offer and be a great team person and or leader.
