Unfortunately since the layoffs last month, the culture has taken a dive. There's a cloud of fear that hangs around the office and no one feels comfortable speaking their mind unless they have a cozy relationship with one of the C Level people. Everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop and anticipating the next round of layoffs. There has been no hope offered to the employees that remain after  constant layoffs for nearly a year (big layoff, rolling silent layoffs, second big layoff last month). There's also been no incentive offered to keep employees here other than some vague reward for being "part of it" if this thing blows up. Decisions for major initiatives are being made by only a handful of people without the expertise to make those decisions, and there's been no leadership/oversight of those people. The people with industry expertise are being called "too thoughtful" and slow, and their ideas and solutions are being totally disregarded. It's obviously already started to push people out. More people will likely leave this month in favor of other jobs. High performing employees are no longer recognized for good work because C level doesn't have time, and everyone else is so afraid. The fear also means that when mistakes are made, it's a blame game among lower level managers, directors and individual contributors — very toxic and counter to an innovative culture.

There is a huge beautiful office that the company pays a lot for, which no one wants to work in. It's in the least accessible part of boston (seaport) and makes everyone's commutes insane.

Uses microsoft exclusively because finance demanded it two years ago

My experience working at Flexcar was disappointing overall. While the company presents itself as innovative and employee-focused, the day-to-day reality didn’t match the picture. The fast pace often felt less like growth and more like disorganization. Priorities changed frequently—sometimes weekly—which made it difficult to feel stable or successful in the role.

Pros:
	•	Some coworkers were genuinely supportive despite the challenges
	•	Exposure to a growing industry and new technology

Cons:
	•	Constantly shifting expectations with little clarity or direction
	•	Communication from leadership was inconsistent or vague
	•	Workload could become overwhelming due to limited structure and staffing
	•	Processes felt unfinished or disconnected, causing confusion and rework
	•	Limited opportunities for advancement despite the company’s growth narrative

Overall:
Flexcar may work for someone who thrives in chaos and doesn’t mind unclear expectations, but for me it was a frustrating and unsustainable environment. The lack of consistency, direction, and support made it difficult to feel valued or effective in my role

This job is the most easiest job Ive applied to. Its the management that makes it hard. Working here has shown me how disorganized this company is. No matter how hard you work or how hard you THINK you’re working it will never be enough! Management will find something wrong with how you do your job. Back of house staff complain about cleaning cars (when its their job) and cant even clean efficiently which causes front of house to double their work. No matter how many times you express your opinion on the situations its their way or no way! We are expected to do double the work when nobody in the back of house helps upfront. There is no type of procedure for any department! Everyone finds their own way of doing things which is chaotic! This is the first time I have ever been to a job that is so easy yet hard because of the management and back of house! I cant say I will be here long only because I feel like my work is not enough for this environment. No matter how hard you work, it wont ever be enough. I wont dedicate my time and effort to a job that doesn’t appreciate me!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part about working at Flexcar is the people! I have truly enjoyed working with everyone at the company. The company fosters a culture of working together and collaboration, which I think is very important given the fast-paced nature of a start up. People often pitch in to help solve issues even if they're not in their direct domain; taking ownership is something that comes easily to people at this organization. There are team building events and happy hours that give everyone a chance to connect socially, and it's always been a good time to spend time with folks outside of work. Everyone is truly great on and off the clock.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working at this company is the nature of a start up. There can be fire drills that arise that people have to hop on and resolve quickly, which can mean upending a carefully planned roadmap or weekly agenda. That being said, I think this is common for most start ups and anyone considering joining a start up should have a 'can do' attitude.

Typical day- waiting around for parts, and or keys. then getting keys and not able to find the car 
Management- has no idea what they’re doing.Management has no mechanical knowledge nor experience, so they make up ridiculous rules for you to follow and when you tell them your opinion, you get shut down immediately and told i can’t do anything about it. I even had a manager say they don’t agree with it but they don’t wanna get fired so they force you to do it. 
The hardest part of the job is dealing with management, they want to do so many things that won’t work, and once they realize it they don’t change it they keep doing the same thing, if and only if they can find another solution then they’ll change it. the most enjoyable part of the job is leaving for the day.

Flexcar has been wonderful so far! The company is growing rapidly, and provides a lot of opportunity for employees to grow alongside it. The office culture is great. Everyone is friendly and helpful. There a lot of cool perks to working with Flexcar like subsidized lunch days, virtual team building events, company swag like winter hats, and even Zipcar/Avis discounts! My favorite part about working with Flexcar is the nurturing environment. Everyone's ideas are taken into account, and the workplace is very collaborative.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Fear of being laid off at any  moment. 3 layoffs in one year.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible because there is no senior management left. The company is run by a billionaire who is out of touch with normal human beings.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fighting for resources. Defending the work. Ultimately making bad decisions on behalf of the board director.

I would not recommend this place based on my experience. The management lacks professionalism and often engages in gossip about employees instead of focusing on creating a respectful work environment.
The quality of the supplies used is extremely poor, often the cheapest available. In many cases, vehicle repairs are done using low-quality or second-hand parts rather than proper, reliable components.
Overall, the business practices do not reflect honesty or integrity. Customers deserve transparency and quality work, and unfortunately that was not my experience here.

Favoritism and ego run the company. People with 0 prior experience have moved up to higher positions just from kissing a**. The hardest working people get led on with promises for growth only to see people that dont do anything, get promoted. All lies and scams just like the company itself, other reviews confirm thats just how flexcar works. The money is not worth it, you get paid to be miserable and to be stalked by management making sure every second of your day is spent working. The amount of turn over is insane. Overall if i could give 0 stars i would.

It was little over 4 months since I started, my experience is great working with Flexcar, fast environment as other car rental industry, dealing with cars everyday, management is great, lot of flexibility, pay might be little low on associates, pretty decent on coordinator and supervisor.
