I have worked at Florida Medical for 28 years.  I have worked in pretty much every area of the hospital.  My job requires great organizational skills, communication skills and is very fast paced.  I have learned how to work under stressful situations.  I have been introduced to and worked with people from many different cultures.  
The hardest part of my job is the stress.  At times situations involve intense situations that are sad and/or difficult to handle.  Over the years I have learned to balance my emotions and stay focused on what needs to be accomplished.  My job has helped me grow.  Florida Medical Center has been a huge part of my life.  My co-workers are like a part of my family. 
A typical day involves managing multiple phone calls, assigning rooms for patients, running errands, assisting Doctors and Nurses,  Attending to family members.  Managing the nurses station.
The workplace culture is a pleasant variety of people from different areas  of the world. 
Management is supportive.
The most enjoyable part of the job is my co-workers.

What an experience. I was surrounded by toxicity all day long. Animosity between coworkers was part of every day. First day into work and two coworkers started to make insinuations about each other. Drama is at the top. Poor management. Everybody wanted to be the boss leading to competition for superiority. Supervisor plays favoritism and allow others to give orders (the ones that try to be close to her/you can feel in the blank, this behavior does has a name) and it plays in their favor. Totally a dark, bad energy place and so are the couple of people that stay because yes, turnover is extremely high. Everyone leaves.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company that owned it when I first started. The people I worked with were excellent but it seems later throughout the years the job turns into caring more about business then the patients.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You try to keep integrity and maintain doing what you supposed to do, but I had difficulty getting the company to be on the same page.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and feeling unappreciated

Assessed patients. Gave out medications. Did admissions. Delegated duties to mental health techs as required.  Used deescalating techniques with violent patients.  Learned to multitask and communicate with both patients and staff members during good and difficult times. The hardest part of the job was finishing my duties while trying to beat the clock in an environment that demanded multitasking while being emotional and physically demanding at times. The most enjoyable part of the job was the camaraderie among staff members.

The overall cleanliness of Florida Medical Center is deplorable at best.  Witnessed human fecal matter on patient privacy curtains many times, trash laying not only in the public access areas but also throughout every part of this hospital.  Lower paid staff (aides through RN's) talk crudely and in most cases inappropriately to and in the presence of visitors and patients.  Whenever I have a question, I am required to call my office manager as the nursing staff and ward secretaries suddenly forget how to speak English.

Middle management does not accept the responsibility to change problems in their departments because of the reluctance of HR to work within the union structure to eliminate employees that cannot or do not do their jobs adequately. Problems are routinely not brought to upper management until completely out of control. The "not my job" syndrome is prevalent and allowed to continue.

I worked at Conifer for years and I learned a lot from my experience there. My main issue with the company is they offer tuition reimbursement, then management and HR refuse to accommodate a schedule that is conducive to schooling. I was forced to leave my position before I was able to complete my 2 year obligation and was forced to pay back the money I was given for tuition reimbursement. They don't seem to value their employees, it's a revolving door mostly. My best advice is to get what you can out of the job and leave when a better opportunity presents itself.

Unable to complete work due to lack of supplies, equipment failure, and poor response by management to issues. Nurses are angry, bitter, and frustrated most of the time. Patients are always angry or depressed with the care. Many new employees have the same complaints when joining this company: very disorganized, very unprofessional responses from management, and chaos and neglect seen on multiple levels.

Critical Care Course was offered for internal applicants and I was given the opportunity to take the course. 

The Intensive Care Units do not have a CNA to help the nurses with the heavy workload.

Management only works for the corporation and does not listen to the nurses. 

There is a union for the nurses, another for the secretaries and respiratory therapist. The unions advocate for the employees

I highly recommend you to avoid applying to a toxic culture hospital and toxic micromanagement at the Pharmacy causing a lot of excessive stress w/o no reason. Not able to learn and growth. When you are hire there is no training unless you have experience.  Not technology based oriented. Poor quality of patient care and safety. I will never ever will take any family member to treat at this hospital.
