I’ve worked at several healthcare facilities and long term care centers. Focused Care has the best corporate culture, hands down. The leadership is caring, authentic, and all have their hearts in the right place. I have never before been a part of a team that is so supportive and collaborative. Work can be very fast paced and challenging, but the leadership is always relaxed and open to communicating questions or concerns . The personal satisfaction that I get from working there is what keeps me interested in staying. I truly feel valued and included in this company. Unfortunately, the compensation and benefits are rather poor compared to what is being offered by competitors in the industry, and that may ultimately make it hard for the company to attract and retain top talent. If you can negotiate a fair wage for yourself here, it is a wonderful place to work.

Most of the staff are helpful, turn over in management has been high, clean facility. 
Honestly, there is too many agency staff in the building, actual staff is busting butt to do work and getting paid “change” compared to agency staff that do minimal  work for “dollars” When you have an agency CNA making more than your charge nurse that’s an issue, especially when some/most of the agency aides do so little work, makes the nurse want to leave the facility and go agency themselves.  Management  needs to see that if you can pay an agency CNA more  you pay your staff nurse, and that aide is working 40hrs/week, fix it. Pay your staff more and you could get/keep staff. 
 
House keeping and dietary are great!! The facility is always clean and smells clean without the over powering of bleach.  Trays are prompt and hot. Dietary orders are not always followed but corrected quickly, shakes for weight loss hardly ever show up on trays. 


If you didn't want to come in and work on your off days the Director of Nurses said that you were not being a team member.The Administrator and DON just cared about making money. When Covid started they said that if you worked the Covid unit  you would get extra pay. But their was stipulations  You had to be in company uniform, had to not skip lunch break, be on time,  Lot of the times we didn't have PPE to work with . At times you had to work the warm zone and then come out to the cool zone. 
Residents couldn't get  coffee 24 hours a day. There was certain times that they could get it.  When they started moving residents around because of renovation they lost a lot of the residents stuff.  The best part about Focused Care was the residents and my Co Workers.

It was stressful because the state was present almost every month.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You are responsible for giving 15-20 residents medication, vital signs, glucose finger sticks, wound care, and assisting (feeding) residents meals. The skilled residents have to have a head to toe assessment every shift.
Pros
The coworkers were great, especially the other nurse on my shift.
Cons
It was stressful because the state came frequently and the low salary.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Run from this company the “C”suite as they refer to themselves are really only about money NOT patient care

The fact that the only thing that matters to these people are getting residents into the buildings and covering any mishaps

Horrible each for their own, it’s like you’re always walking on egg shells 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each night to fall asleep I had to drink a bottle of wine due to the stress of this place !! Wondering who would screw up in the middle of the night

As an employee for this company I’m proud to work for Focused Care. And everyday that I come to work I no there will never be a dull moment and you will never be with out family. The owner to the company is a person who loves to make sure his employees r happy and resident are being taken care of. Because he has come to the building several time to check up on us whn we live in the middle of no where but he still makes the time to see us. Now anybody who has worked for a company who can honestly say the owner come in to check on his staff. So with that being said love my Job..

I love Focused Acute Care at Stonebriar.   I love the residents.   I love the staff.   I love the management team.   I love the new Corp. staff,  that visit often.   I'm very proud to say I  worked there.   It's an amazing place to be.   It's in the perfect location.   It's been remodeled and it's beautiful,  just like the people.   The new administrator,  is making alot of great and strategic changes,  to make Stonebriar even better and more efficient.   His goals are all tied to whatever helps the residents.  There is a new D. O. N., that is extremely experienced and cares,  first,  for the resident and everything else comes after.   Stonebriar has a great team and I miss them all,  so much.   Great team!

What is the best part of working at the company?
the Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) @ Summer Place is intriguingly knowledgeable.  Her attention to detail is unmatched.  Most importantly she is a true team player as she does not hesitate to assist staff (in all departments) when needed. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
the job in itself can sometimes be stressful; keeping in my mind that the decision made affects the next person’s well-being

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy Busy Busy

Micromanaging At it FINEST! All nursing homes are stressful right now, however this company DID NOT make things any better. The micromanaging, the constant reports, staff is short in MOST buildings, I risked my life in my building. The company promised COVID pay... that we never got because there were stipulate on getting the money. Just dangling a carrot in our face. WAYYYYY too too heavy! Everyone in a regional or corporate position is trying to prove their job by making all types of stupid reports! OVERWORKED, UNDER PAID, and definitely not appreciated.

Working here is straightforward. Be on time, do your routine, and manage your time. It's best if you have previous experience, because sometimes it feels like you're on your own and others are difficult to get a hold of. Also, the documentation software, PCC (PointClickCare) may be confusing to learn and it's difficult to find tutorials or training outside of work. Charting, of course, is a crucial part of the job and trying to figure it out during job hours takes up precious time.
