In my present position my typical day could include meeting and providing hospital orientation to students from a variety of professional education programs.  I could be teaching renewal CPR or annual skills update to current employees.  I'm involved in new employee orientation for each person hired.  I'm often meeting with patients who have been diagnosed with an infection, teaching them how to manage it and how to prevent its spread.  I perform surveillance throughout the facility for unsafe or infection control issues.  Much of my time is spent writing reports or policies.

The management is aware of the regulatory emphasis on infection control and employee health and education.  Communication is difficult smooth and I miss opportunities to give infection control input.
There are not coworkers in my role.  I am involved with both directors and staff level employees of all departments.

The hardest part of the job is managing communication, having access to educational resources needed for classes I teach, and completing my work load in the 32 hours per week allotted to it.

The most enjoyable part is flexibility in my schedule so that I can choose which day or parts of days I will not be working.

A typical day at work you ask?
  
Full speed ahead!  Full throttle.  
Possibly chaos with an occasional, pardon my French, "cluster f**k"  lol

Admissions, discharges...  Yes, all at the same time.  I've barely got you out the door and room clean and they're escorting another patient down my hall..

I learned I can't fix it all... oh, and Laugh.. with others and at myself!

Said it before and I'll say it again.  Invaluable  Stand by them 100%.  I've got their back and they've got mine.  Period! 

The hardest part of my job is when you try to help someone and they just don't get it, they don't have the willingness, or its just not their time.  I want everyone to get what I got!!

The case management team worked hard together to support one another.  Without them I would not have stayed the length of 2 years.  I enjoyed working with the patients however due to having an overloaded case load of 14 instead of 10 on a consistent basis I did not have the tool of time in order to execute the necessary job duties.  Most paperwork was handwritten and the computer program that some paperwork could be completed was extremely outdated.  There was no support on the management level.  I was lucky to have supportive supervisors.  The patients and work that I was able to execute was a wonderful experience however the job expectations were exhausting and unethical.

This company has truly dug a huge hole for itself. It has slowly been going downhill since the new CEO took over. All of the staff complaints get nowhere, yet upper management wonder why the turnover rate is so high-denying it’s their own actions. All that is cared about is making a profit and filling beds. Staff are very overwhelmed and staffing is an issue. MHW’s on 2nd and 3rd shifts could be responsible for an entire unit by themselves. You are expected to work overtime, but forced to used PTO when patient census is low. This job is not worth your mental health and that’s the irony of it all. Staff who have been there for years in various departments have been leaving. Do yourself a favor and don’t get fooled by the promises they make in orientation. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I enjoyed the autonomy and the teamwork.  They trusted me to work autonomously but provided the teamwork to assist me in accomplishing my goals. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Google maps requirements and different CEO’S demands. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s good unless a CEO demanded something that was undeliverable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would take off from my house to visit with mental health professionals, other MD’S, OR hospital ED’S, or CMH’S or Psychiatrist’s/psychologist’s. I usually had scheduled 3-4 of my visits to somewhere in my territory or I’d cater a lunch to an office. I also provided educational events with CEU’s to different entities.

I worked as a Case Manager Per Diem and Part-time in the Partial Hospital Program.  I enjoyed working with the patients which is why I stayed for 5 years.  What was difficult for me was that with my 20 years experience as a Psychotherapist I was treated as if I just graduated with my LMSW.  I feel my input would have been beneficial to the patients but it was dismissed.  I found that the patients were not the priority, it was get them in and out in the shortest timeframe possible.  I realize this comes from insurance but the patients do not get the help they need.  It’s too bad.  Would not recommend this facility for treatment.

I worked here for a period of months, but it felt like years. Clinical caseloads were way higher than they should have been. Territorialism was rewarded. Some doctors practiced medicine very unethically, seeing patients for a very short period of time and sometimes forgetting who they were talking about as they relegated them to involuntary treatment day after day. Some of the clinicians were incredible people and very giving, but I saw even the best therapists and social workers burn out in a very short period of time, as staff weren't given the opportunity to fully utilize their clinical skills. The hospital was staffed very conservatively. 

This place has no work life balance. If they had company laptops than things would be better. But you have to stay in the office to fi ish everything due to it being on a desktop. The pay is very little for the amount of work you put in here. 

I would stay away if your a limited licensed social worker. The clinical director is not supportive of new clinicians. The clinical director will make it very hard for you to get your hours signed for supervision.  The clinical director will also talk behind your back to other people in the hospital. 

Overworked and underpaid. Raises are very tiny (if you get one). Most of the coworkers are great but management will make promises they don’t keep. Constant turnover. So many long term employees have recently left. The new CEO was hired and promised everything would improve but unfortunately everything has gotten significantly worse. PTO is denied, they won’t even let you find your own coverage. They promise bonuses than make excuses why you didn’t qualify. Mandatory overtime than you also get mandated when someone calls in. Absolutely no work life balance, not good for your mental health. 

Really enjoyed working at Forestview hospital. Was afforded multiple opportunities to grow and advance while there. Coworkers in my departed became really good friends that were supportive of each other and the team goals. 
Direct supervisor ALWAYS had my back regardless if it was helping me advance professionally or buffer for me between managment. Lastly, my supervisor understood the importance of family better that any other boss I have worked for and demonstrated it more than I could have ever imagined.
Circumstances didn’t allow me to stay, hopefully circumstances will allow me to return someday!
