I worked as a Patient Access Representative in the Surgical Oncology Clinic. The work itself was rewarding because I had the opportunity to assist patients during some of the most difficult times in their lives. The clinic was well organized, and I enjoyed learning the specialty. My coworkers were welcoming, supportive, and always willing to help when needed. The providers and staff genuinely cared about delivering quality patient care, which created a positive environment for patients.

The work schedule was also a benefit, especially having consistent daytime hours and half-day Fridays, which helped promote a healthier work-life balance.

Where my experience fell short was with management’s flexibility and support when unexpected medical needs arose. I understand the importance of attendance and maintaining adequate staffing, especially in a busy specialty clinic. However, I felt there was very little understanding or willingness to work with employees facing legitimate medical circumstances. I wasn’t looking for special treatment, just a reasonable amount of compassion and flexibility during an important time in my life.

I believe organizations that care for patients should also strive to care for their employees. Creating a more supportive environment where staff feel heard and valued during challenging life events would go a long way in improving morale and employee retention.

Overall, I appreciated the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated team and wish the clinic continued success. With stronger leadership support and a greater emphasis on employee well-being, I believe it could be an even better place to work.

I would rate my previous employer as an overall excellent facility that prioritized patient care, maintained high standards, and offered a supportive environment for clinical teams. The organization provided strong resources, fostered collaboration, and created opportunities for growth that allowed me to develop as a leader and contribute meaningfully to the team’s success. However, the primary area of concern was within the Human Resources department. HR often operated in a rigid, black-and-white manner, leaving little room for context or professional judgment in complex situations. This strict approach sometimes overshadowed the culture of loyalty and dedication many staff consistently demonstrated, and it did not adequately value long-term commitment or individual contributions. While clinical operations thrived, the shortcomings in HR practices created unnecessary challenges for staff morale and retention. With a more balanced, people-centered HR approach, the facility could achieve its full potential as an even stronger healthcare organization.

Do not waste your time working for this company, especially when you know you can do better for yourself. They totally snaked me for a job here. I had applied for a full-time position interviewed for it was told that I had it received my work schedule then human resources call me back and told me that they could only offer me PRN. So what happened to the position was that someone who was in their click took that position and they failed to tell me that so I end up working every weekend as PRN in the emergency department. Plus the nurses there have the nastiest attitudes it's all about who you know they treated me very unfair Plus they are the lowest paying hospital in Louisiana like I say if you know your worth don't lower your standards by working for this company because it would be a waste of your time find you something that would make you happy

“The culture is centered around serving patients and families. Everyone works with purpose, and that shared mission creates a strong sense of unity.”

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
“My day is usually fast‑paced, with a mix of independent work and team communication. I stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to shifting priorities throughout the day.”

My days are filled with supporting Physicians, Residents and Mid-level providers or basically anyone who needs help with the EMR daily.   I have a team that I can totally depend on and a manager who is very supportive of each others needs; a close group.  We meet daily to better support our population.  I learned a lot about working with a diverse population and culture.

Healthcare is always changing and evolving.  The hardest part is teaching to the masses something they really don't want to learn.  The most enjoyable part of my job is when that person just finally gets that light bulb moment and you have made their life so much easier.

The medical system has changed. The Dr.'s & nurses I served had integrity & honored their oath. I enjoyed going beyond what it took to get whatever they needed. The fight for life is real. You don't have rights until you exercise them. The staff now comply to the unreliable 'covid' tests, misdiagnose a virus that has NEVER been isolated & will. intubate a patient after giving them deadly redemsivir. No one fought for the patients & they died alone. MRSA patients were contagious & put in isolation & families were gowned to be by their side. Their ignorance & lack of knowledge in their field along with no back bone cost lives.  If they're not uniting & fighting for themselves then know they are not fighting for your loved one. 

This is an extremely TOXIC RT Dept.  You would think that since most of the RT’s at this hospital are at the end of their careers, that they would be helpful and very knowledgable, however, they are quite the opposite.  Most are lazy and give RT’s in the field all bad reputations.  The RT’s at this hospital are so bad that you have to wear a tracking device while at work, because there have been so many complaints about patients not being seen.  While this dept may have one of the better RT directors in the Lafayette area, the RT’s are some of the worst in the area.  They should all be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves but they honestly couldn’t care less.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Going to work and thanking God everyday that I have a Job.  Happy I have good people to work with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It can be stressful, but  before I go to work every morning I pray. There are sometimes people you work with who want to just sit around and do nothing, but just do what needs to be done and watch how God works it out.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is good, busy as always but the work gets finished 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
From start to finish you will be busy but teamwork is the best way to get it finished.

* Typical work day: Fast pace.
* What I've learned: The color of your skin does matter. Depending on your title, you can get away with murder (literally).
* Management: Can care LESS about the techs, LPN's or anyone that's not a Doctor or RN.
* Workplace culture: Totally the opposite of their "Mission".
* The hardest part of the job: Trying not to tell family members the real reason why their loved ones coded.
* The most enjoyable part of the job: Clocking out. Quitting.


This organization would prefer to pay their attorneys than do right by an employee.  As a former employee, I can tell you as I have told several friends working there with less than stellar past. HR does not do background checks. I know several employees who have lied and gotten hired to work there which demonstrates discrimination towards applicants. 

HR put false information in my employment file. By the way management has acted. I now understand why some of my colleagues said they would never seek treatment at this hospital. I have now joined them.
