As a Youth Case manager I worked with homeless youth 18-24. I loved assisting and serving this population and being there for them in times of distress. I had to work with multiple organizations and understand multiple forms of assistance, from housing to food to utility assistance. The work was extremely rewarding helping individuals navigate their mental health and assist them in improving their quality of living. 
However, after being there almost a year I asked for a raise. As I was the only CM left for the program and had a full case load of 20 individuals, with many CMs having to manage more. Let alone having to use my personal vehicle to consistently drive to clients and transport them as needed. While their was mileage reimbursement,it did not even come close to the amount of gas I had to pay for,let alone the work that had to be done to my vehicle, ultimately ending in me being without a vehicle and having to rent from Turo. Due to this use of the vehicle, the stress of the work, and again, almost being there a year, they refused to negotiate or meet me half way for a raise. I was an excellent employee, with my last review with my supervision being excellent in most categories. 
Frontlines upper management or rather those on the third floor are paid extremely more and are out of touch with those who do the front of the work. The managers for the programs however are extremely awesome and knowledgeable but have no control over such things mentioned above. Frontline has no employees left and can't retain anyone for long due to them not working with employees or even trying to meet them half way. This out of touch mentality does not help anyone survive in this economy.

You work with the formerly homeless population which has a lot of trauma attached to this demographic. I recall when I was interviewed they didn't describe the actual tasks I ended up having versus what I was told my job description was. When I referred people people I was more blunt because I was blind sided. 

Management is okay to an extent. There is a ton of nepotism that happens within this agency. Either you're in or you're not and if you're not many people will treat you badly, and I mean coworkers as well. Management tends to like you until you're not doing well and then when you go to them for help they kinda throw their hands up at you and tell you to figure it out. You have productivity quotas but for an agency that "understands" the demographic so well are ruthless if you miss your productivity goal. I feel that is the main reason there is so much turn over. You can work there for 5 years and never miss your productivity goal but you miss it once you're put on probation. Then, your managers who "support" you are no where to be found even when you have a "performance plan" that you're supposed to meet every morning. Basically the managers are so over worked they don't have time for you, is what they want you to think. 

There are no bonuses, no real raises, and no help with your car that you use to transport clients in Cleveland.

This is an ideal place to get your foot in the door. After an year or two I'm sure you can find a much better paying job. 

They will try to tell you the mileage they pay out to you is a big compensation but honestly, it's not a good pay off.

There's tons of internal politics, nepotism, and ethical issues that go on that are disguised as "best practice"

Personally, if anyone at Frontline reads this, you need to have a conversation with your program managers about counter transference and burn out. 



What is the best part of working at the company?
FrontLine's clients were treated  with caring attitudes and respect by all personnel.  Personnel  cared also about each other.  There was a sense of "making a difference " and self actualization. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When beds were full at the Crisis Stabilization Unit, clients unfortunately had to be turned away. Disposition/placement was also an issue for some clients.


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The director did much to foster a climate of inclusion.  The staff seemed to be in sync  regarding client care. There was little noticeable friction. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
After change of shift report (attended by all caregivers, unlike other facilities), medications would be prepared and administered with clients' idiosyncrasies in mind.  Vital signs were done. Much teaching was involved. Interdisciplinary communication was valued. Documentation was timely and occurred throughout the shift. Discharges and admissions were rotated among social work staff, with the nurse having a pivotal role.  The shift moved quickly with little  downtime.  1:1 talks with clients and therapeutic groups were encouraged, not only by social service,  but by competent nurses. Nursing at Frontline was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

The good about this agency..the work is rewarding but hard. Great experience. You learn a lot. Both good and bad. 
The benefits are decent. Lots of PTO and time off but unfortunately, unless you are an Associate Director or higher, you don’t make enough to actually enjoy it. The cons..Leadership. They seem to live in a vacuum and have little to no awareness or just really don’t care about the fact that their employees are struggling and often have to work two jobs to make ends meet. Those in higher up positions who make the policies have minimal if any therapy or clinical experience. They fail to recognize the importance of actual therapy and training in various modalities and actually eliminated their therapy department years ago. Promotions are few and far between. Once you hit middle management, that’s about it. They are extremely top heavy and have Associate Directors for programs who don’t have the revenue or even the amount of staff to justify it. More work and policies are constantly being added by upper management with absolutely no consideration on how it affects the middle managers who are already overwhelmed. This company seems to be in serious financial trouble. They’ve lost significant funding and grants. They have lost PSH buildings and programs they have had for years

If the pay wasn’t terrible (I could make a lot more at Target) I would give this organization 5 stars. We get tons of paid time off, the work culture is amazing and the organization has a great scope. We work with the most underserved population there is and sometimes that work is hard. You have to have the heart to do this. 

I work under a grant so I don’t have to log billable hours but if I did I think I’d be in trouble because we are supposed to do 4.5 hours a day and I rarely log that. These organizations all want way more productivity than is possible, and I think Frontline is on the low side of expectations compared to other places, though. 
Overall, I’ve loved this job. I have learned a lot from my supervisor and other management I’ve worked with. Employees are friendly and I don’t detect clique-ish behavior here. Frontline is a great place that offers great benefits and PTO and has understanding, laid back and flexible management BUT case managers start at 12.98 an hour and after a year only get a little 2% raise. 
Good place to start but I don’t see myself staying here much longer. I need better pay and I’m willing to sacrifice the other good things here to get it, sadly. 
If you need experience in social services, this is a good place to start. I have a lot of respect for this agency. 

Really weigh the pros and cons before applying/accepting a job here! When I first started working at this agency, it was great! Over the years, it has slowly been going down hill! There are tons of burnt out staff and managers. Minimal support from associate directors/directors. No room for advancement. Hours vary depending on each department/position. Many times you have to work in unsafe neighborhoods. PTO and health benefits are good, but pay is very low especially compared to similar agencies in the area. A lot is expected of you, but pay usually stays the same.

This is a great company to work for if you want to get treated like dirt by your management.  The company runs on negative reinforcement, by this I mean that management motivates you like a cattle prodder motivates cattle.  Employees are plain and simple motivated by the threat of being written up and ultimately losing their job.  The morale is lower than I have ever seen in a business.  The pay was awful.  In four years I never got a raise....which means I was actually making less money when I left the company than I did when I started.  Gotta love inflation and gotta love a company that takes no effort in keeping up with it.  Burn out is HUGE!!!! in this company, I have never seen so many half dead workers in my life!!  It's a shame, all of my coworkers are great people who would bend over backward for you and all they get is stepped on in this organization.  
The only pro would be that I met so many great people and have formulated some solid friendships in the process.  It's been great to watch them file one by one away from this company and regain their dignity.

The Benefits do not out way the negative with this company.  They are in financial crisis and are very unorganized.  They have gone through many upper managers due to hostile work environment issue, discrimination and disrespect.  The company its self has many departments all which have had conflict and has utilized the union to support them.  The job descriptions they prove are not what you will be doing.  They company is sneaky and tries to get things down without consulting the union first.  Some of the companies long standing directors are leaving for "better opportunities".  The company is disorganized, lacks positive support from some management, pay has not increased, freeze on accruals due to financial hardship.  Discriminatory against workers. Only good thing is that they do offer more PTO than other companies, but its not worth the headaches otherwise.

Case management is over worked and under paid. No raises. Preparing for financial ruin, so don't work here expecting any future increase in earnings. Benefits being cut and productivity increasing to make up for overwhelming debt. Hopefully, it will go under so clients and employees have a real chance with another agency. Run away as fast as you can!! Management is afraid of going under, so they see employees as potential money, not people. Turnover for employees working in the field is so high, I cannot remember the names of all the people who left. HR consists of two people for over 400 employees. They are loyal to their friends in management with little to no regard for ethics or the law. Run, don't walk, away from this horrible place...

Every day is different and you have the opportunity to create how your day will go. I've learned more while working at Frontline than any lessons from books or teachers. The clients are the most interesting people you'll meet; they'll make you laugh daily and provide rewarding experiences. Your team will have your back and provide remarkable support. Lean in to learning boundaries and utilize creativity. This is the first company I've worked for that encourages time off for self care.
