Negative work culture! Staff members are often uncooperative and hostile with one another. It does not feel like a safe space. It seems that faults are highlighted more than strengths, and advancement is unlikely and even discouraged. There is often disorganization and chaos with a question of who is in charge. It seems that problems  concerning residents as well as staff issues are considered things to be obscured rather than addressed openly. It was challenging and intimidating to address these issues or ask for help without fear of retaliation. Advocating feels more like a risk as opposed to promoting best practices. I went there to be part of a team and left feeling that my morale and overall confidence was greatly reduce. I felt very discouraged about continuing in this field. I would like to provide positive and constructive feedback but feel this is not possible based on the extent of negativity at this agency, and whay appears to be a limited chance for improvement. My best hope is to simply warn others not to go there or to be fully prepared to meet the challenges that I believe will arise there for someone seeking a pleasant and fair atmosphere. I do not agree with how complaints and feedback are handled at this agency, and hope that in the future, the agency will offer more room to grow and improve in search of a better and more integrity based way to fulfill its mission. I would especially like it if the agency would make this a priority as well as the need to treat everyone with fairness and equal chances of success.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting and connecting with the senior residents who are grateful for the interactions and kindness.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This is a high-stress corporate environment. There is no room for creativity, individuality, new ideas and suggestions for improvement or anything outside of their generic cookie cutter. If you’re in management there’s a daily wasteful 10am management meeting EVERY day. The demands for the position are extremely high, almost unattainable. The ED is newer and primarily concerned about her own review and appearance to the higher ups. Gossipy environment. The DON bullies and speaks down to the nursing staff.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. The leaders set the example and the DON is extremely conservative and downright mean; yells at and degrades her staff. Not a kind, friendly or helpful /supportive leader. The ED is likable on the surface but she’s new and ultimately her primary concern is her own review in the eyes of the higher ups. Low pay, high stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
An anxiety-ridden chaotic disaster. Wasteful meetings, strict deadlines, micromanaging, scolding and shaming. High stress, tight deadlines, no room for creativity.

I worked at the Canton location and the patients and job in itself are wonderful. However management, administration and coworkers were absolutely awful. Management and administration did nothing to support staff or recognize a job well done. The only time they would speak to you was when you would do something wrong. I have been a nurse for six years and have gotten along with all of my previous coworkers and managers at my places of work so this was a culture shock for me. I have worked at a few hospitals and urgent cares and have never had the problems I had at future care. I was honestly afraid for my license at this establishment. When i worked there the water went out for 10 days. That is ten days of no access to running water and they were still admitting patients. It was just wrong. Coworkers were sneaky and would throw you under the bus at the drop of a hat. there were one or two nice nurses and GNAs but they were far outweighed by awful attitudes and snakey women. Just an awful place to work. I dreaded it every day. The day I pout in my two weeks notice apparently HR received about three others as well. Also the HR rep just left as well. He had enough too.

As a employee of FCCS our department as a whole was wonderful. It was just we could never due enough in the building. We had to answer call lights when the nurses would stand at thedesk doing nothing. We had to extremely careful at all times concerning our surroundings because the nursing staff was extremely careless with neddles and equipment. Our adminstrator would complain all the time about things we were not doing but it was the nurses who ceeated hinestly our issues. We could clean a room and two second after we finish they would come in the room change a patient and leave diapers or gloves in the room on the floor. Nothing is said about this but let them find a dust bunny and the entire worl was ending. I think they dont respect our position but we are the people who pride ourselves also in a good job we try hard to do.But at FCCS its not recognized. So if you want to be stressed out and walking on egg shells come there in house keeping . We are treated like scum when if you truly evaluated the situation we are the ones holding it together the residents will tell you.

The job begins after making rounds and receiving report from the oncoming nurse. I give report about the day's activity to the nursing assitants, then I check for new orders. Midnight medications are given by mouth, g-tube, IV; and bolus feedings are given to patients that receive them. Treatments are done, charts are auditted. Rounds are done on a frequent basis to ensure the safety of the patients; provide pain management, and to make sure nursing assistants provide proper care for the patients. Six o'clock meds/feeds are given, rounds done and report is given at the end of the shift. Management is good: they are on top of everythining, making sure that things are done. the difficult part of the job is having to deal with the oncoming shift who are argumentative and constalntly fighting during change of shift. The most enjoyable part of the job is  having a supervisor who is very positive and provides us with words of encouragement.

I am proud to say I am one of the dietitians at FutureCare Lochearn. I have worked at more than 7 different facilities so far across the country and can confidently say this is one of the best. All of us work together as a team to best identify and address the individual nutritional needs of our residents. We have a spacious dining room, caring kitchen staff, excellent cooperate team to help with menus/vacations and great activity/vending programs which help us maximize the quality of life and nutritional status of our residents. While COVID has been rough, our management team continues to work hard to rebuild our census and provide support to keep both our residents and staff safe and healthy. The work ethic and compassion provided by all managers/departments makes me grateful to be part of the FutureCare family. I no longer work a Future care homewood at this time, but if given another opportunity I will work there again. My experience was great, and fulfilling. As challenging as it to be a nurse at a long term care facility especially since the nursing shortage that just about every nursing home facility is experiencing, I found that administration at future care homewood was very helpful and understanding. The weekend supervisor would go out of his way to make sure thing run smoothly, he would even pass meds, or take on a group of patients when he have to, and still tried to address our concerns. I cannot say that the staff and administrator was unfair, rude, and not helpful, in fact they were kind, friendly and tried their best to be as helpful as possible. I worked in other places where this was not the case. I would recommend this place to other nurses and future patients, I find future care homewood to be one of the better facility to work for and to bring your loved one.

So I’m in a management role with FutureCare and I’m so disappointed with this company. Management is expected to work overtime every week. There is no work life balance. If you are not nursing, you can forget about a bonus, incentive or raise to compensate for additional time. 

Also, you don’t get vacation time you’re entire 1st year here! The company will easily give raises to hourly nurses but when it comes to management, entry level nursing (GNA’s) and all other departments they won’t give decent increase. Do yourself a favor and don’t accept an offer at this company unless you work in nursing. You will be unappreciated, underpaid, overworked, stressed, and this company has the worst administrators, DON’s, and ADON’s I’ve ever encountered. It’s scary. I don’t know how they find these people 

I worked with my clinical instructor for 2 months. I learned how to do patient's assessments. I was exposed to various diagnosis which included hip replacement, Spinal cord injuries, stroke, and TBI. During my level 2 fieldwork, I did documentation, educating patients with the family members on how to take care of their loved ones who were there for short time. My hardest part was treating patient's who were cognitively impaired, but by the time I was on my second week I was comfortable working with cognitively impaired patients with the help of my CI. What I  enjoyed most was  whenever I helped patient's
' regain their independence doing their daily activities for example bathing, dressing, toileting and eating independently after an injury or due medical condition.
