This company was a company that I used to pride myself on working for because of the amazing management team, opportunities for growth and the learning environment. What I learned is the higher you go in the company, the more vulnerable your position is as far as non-management positions. I also learned that when it comes down to it the company values profitability way more than productivity at the cost of its employees. The company went from hiring knowledgeable, competent and caring people in management to incompetent, disrespectful people that provided a work environment not conducive to high productivity. The company also never made it a priority to replace the employees that left the company. When they didn't replace the employees no longer with the company all the remaining work falls on the employees still with the company. In all honesty, these factors only benefited those at the top and made it unbearable for the non-management employees. This seems to be the regular trend for companies that hire great people in management when they start out small and replace those employees with unqualified ones once they experience significant growth because it's more profitable in the short term.  

Gainsco does not listen to employees. Management is so focused on their bottom line that they disregard their loyal and hardworking employees. They have no problem taking advantage of their employees' dedication, but do not reward them accordingly. Employees are treated like work horses, expected to work late nights & weekends, sacrifice their work/life balance for the sake of the company, and never complain or ask for help. Management bases promotions on personal feelings toward an employee rather than performance and ability. Friends of management are regularly promoted, while others who have worked for the company twice as long are passed over. Gainsco has created a hostile culture by choosing leaders that lead with intimidation and threats. Management will tell you to speak up if you have any problems, but as soon as you do you are labeled as difficult and your manager will start micromanaging you to the point where you begin to fail at your job. Retaliation is rampant at Gainsco. I would warn anyone against applying at this company. Most employees are currently looking for other positions elsewhere.

Worst company I have ever worked for. Pay is a joke, Mgmt has no clue as to how to run an organization. Without saying names, mgmt in general need to  read the directions on a shampoo bottle, another is checked out and is just there for a paycheck until retirement, and most don't have a clue as to what the employees do every day, they only looks at numbers. The culture is the worst I've ever experienced. People are crying on private calls, nobody appears to enjoy the work anymore. Micromanaging to the extreme. All of this pressure and angst for a min wage job. Don't believe what they say about bonus potential. Very few team members ever get their bonus. Told to work unpaid OT to get the job done and do compliance training. If you hate your life, have no respect for yourself and enjoy being abused mentally.... then this is the perfect company, otherwise, RUN AWAY FAST! And yes...I ran away, I am not posting in retaliation for being fired.



when I began in the claims call center I enjoyed the position very much and quickly advanced. As time has gone on though the company seems to have grown exponentially and while this is good for business, the company, at least speaking from the claims department view, has not been able to adequately prepare and keep up with the increased business. They are severely understaffed and workload is heavy mainly for the adjusters. There is a serious lack in training and development of their employees and they often are flying by the seat of their pants in everything they do. I enjoyed the benefits program and was happy with the culture in the beginning but as time has gone by it seems moral is low. Employees lack faith and confidence in management, and management seems to be unaware (or don't care) of the challenges going on the floor.

Gainsco is a growing company that offers a multitude of positions. Schedules are set but can be flexed if worked out accordingly but can be difficult to get adjusted. I enjoyed working here but management made it fairly difficult to want to stay. Management was not very personable with everyone just select few that he had. Supervisors were complacent with doing the bare minimum expecting their subordinates to do everything else even when it was an escalated issue that needed their attention. This was a call center environment and a lot of the employees did not feel appreciate or felt overlooked. When management was approached of the matter their suggestion was that if I was unhappy I had freedom to look elsewhere. The company as a whole is great but management needs training due to them not following proper protocol for anything necessary from them.

This is the worst company to work for.  Management constantly adds more work without any relief.  You basically have to work 16 hours a day in order to try and keep up with your caseload and then you have to have a million meetings about what is going to be changed and added to the list of task to accomplish in one day.  If you take time off, you are basically punished because they continuously keep adding cases when you are off, so you basically never get caught up.  Supervisors belittle employees by yelling at them and treating you like a child.  By far, this is the worst place I have ever worked in my life and would not recommend anyone accepting a position from there.    

A typical day at work in the claims department consists of harassment for closures. The pressure comes in every form of communication possible. Verbally, written via email, instant messaging, or in meetings. In GAINSCO you breathe, sleep, and dream closures. It makes no sense the way they do business or strategise. Whatever the strategy is it leads to overworked and unhappy employees.  Management is mostly made of immature, inexperienced, and bureaucratic personnel. An adjusters role is stressful anywhere but GAINSCO makes it harder and less appealing by its lack of structure. They are not proactive but reactive of issues. Growth is an issue when their is so much greed preventing proper staffing. Look elsewhere if you can.

Gainsco has a "life cycle" of middle management. They chase numbers for 2-5yrs and when results dip - regardless of industry standard supporting information - they fire various mid level leadership - typically the MD Manager, BI Litigation Manager, Claims VP or MD VP
I witnessed this happen multiple times in my 5yrs there. 
They are totally focused on profit driven results with zero regard for the results of the rest of the insurance industry.
The upper management needs to change in claims or they will continue to flounder in results, lose quality employees and provide terrible customer service.
I took a job elsewhere for less $$ because of this.

All claims offices kinda suck. If you read every single review, none have all positive reviews. All insurance companies purposely under staff and expect more of employees and then have a lot of rewards either monetarily or food in order to make you forget the 60-70 hour weeks you have to put in just to barely keep up. The job itself is really common sense but take focus and organization. If you plan on going home when your shift ends don't work here or any other claims job for that matter. However, if claims if claims is all you know then this office has a great atmosphere and the people are awesome. Both co-workers and management.

Classic burnout position, out of equity pay and gift card give outs before raises

Heavy calls and travel, even if you hit your goal, they will still be looking for one more policy or call.
