This small manufacturing company run by 2 brothers has always gone above and beyond for their staff who they consider part of the GEM family and who they know are essential to the continued survival of their company. Following a phenomenal growth spurt in 2010 and 2011 the company suffered some setbacks in overseas orders from some of their largest clients and were faced with no other  options other than 3 rounds of company layoffs in 2012 and not one employee has been called back since that time. Glowing recommendations were given to all former staff of the GEM family from the 2 owners and they have always stepped up to provide references whenever needed for anyone who was part of their GEM family. It was this extra level of care that made this job a wonderful setting to work in, and the care and attention the owners paid to the staff and their customer base has been a benchmark ever since they took ownership. I would 100 percent recommend working for this company should they have a growth spurt again and would love myself to maybe even someday work there again because it truly was one of my best working experiences.

Business is booming again. Through the pandemic, things slowed down. Now that we are on the other side, we've added 2 machines in 4 months with a 3rd in the way. We are actively seeking and hiring to add to the skilled team of workers. The product mix varies by department.

Medium Volume contains a high mix of lower volume work. Here you'd see more variety of features, material types and machine types. This will keep an individual busy through learning the variety of parts and different machines it takes to make them.

High Volume contains fewer types of parts but making many of them. Here you'd get very aquanted with every aspect of the parts you run while expanding your knowledge on gage types and usage.

The two owners truly care about the team and make every decision with the best interest of the group in mind.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never know what's going on as far as production or management decisions unexpected layoffs and job changes happen frequently and you are constantly monitored by cameras..

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture seems to be a clique type atmosphere either you fit in or you don't no room for individuality 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressfull and unpredictable never know what's going on next and if you're gonna be able to work the 40 hours you're scheduled for most weeks end uo only getting 32 or less hours... overtime time is given to people in the clique rather than work performance...

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very much a family feel. They will train you to whatever level you are capable of becoming. Wasn't everyone to succeed. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Holding tight tolerances while being very much about production. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's great. Owners walk the floor and know people by name. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Running a machining cell. Pounding or production

Our second shift crew was about half the size of the first shift group, so we usually ran more machines than they did on a given night. The time flew by, and the shift was over before you knew it. My supervisor was a great mentor, and always made sure he had time to answer my questions (as I was new to the world of Mazak). A talented group of machinists at GEM made sure that nobody dropped the ball, and the inspection department was top notch.

It was a nice place to work for. I worked there around 9 years and i had no regrets working for Gem. The Boss's are great the Owners are outstanding brothers to work for. I learned alot and they have people there to train you on the job to help better yourself. Gem is the best place I can say I worked for out of all my jobs. If I did not have problems with my thumbs I know I would still be working for them and enjoying it.

Worked here for a short time work was ok... Made the deal that I work there at low pay and show them what I could do for six months. At 5 months was told they were not giving out raises in the immediate future and even though I should get paid more they just couldnt do it at the time.... Got a job offer the very next week and was gone. I wouldnt go back even if desperate.

Friendly and innovative place to work. Owned by two brother who are ready to invest in new technologies if there's a need and excellent engineering and quality department. What other don't want to do, GEM do it for its customers and customers of GEM love that about GEM. If you're somebody who is looking for a place to learn as you go GEM is your one stop.

Started in a CNC Operator role - advanced to CNC Set UP I Operator - then to Quality Engineer.  GEM looks to train from with in to move employees along for growth.  Overall the shop is under 50 employees on the 2 shifts so advancements are limited but there is a lot to learn.  10 hour days leaves a 3 day weekend.

Management is the worst part about this place. Everyone is just another tool to the owners here, unless your in the “inner circle. The people who work here otherwise are great to be around. Healthcare is terrible here. They are advancing rapidly though, so job security as long as your not lazy shouldn’t be a concern
