I worked with GHR on and off for several years and was fortunate to have several positive placements as a Special Education Paraprofessional. For much of that time, my experience was positive and I appreciated the opportunities provided.

Unfortunately, I noticed a significant shift in company culture after the pandemic. Communication became increasingly impersonal and unprofessional, particularly through frequent mass texts outside of work hours regarding timesheets. I understand that the switch to app-based clock-ins likely created challenges and that some individuals may have abused the system. However, it often felt as though all employees were being treated with the same level of suspicion because of the actions of a few.

Many paraprofessionals are dedicated professionals who care deeply about the students they support. What I found disappointing was the tendency to communicate in a way that seemed to assume staff were uninformed, irresponsible, or unconcerned about their work. That kind of communication is damaging to morale and fails to recognize the commitment many paraprofessionals bring to the job.

More recently, I began receiving recruitment texts for the upcoming school year that relied heavily on emojis and marketing-style language. The messages felt more like sales pitches than professional outreach for educational support staff. For positions that require patience, skill, and commitment, the communication came across as overly casual, cheap, and out of step with the professionalism the role deserves.

Overall, I was left with the impression that filling vacancies had become a greater priority than supporting and investing in the people being placed. Based on my experience, there are other staffing agencies that provide stronger preparation, communication, and professional support for paraprofessionals. While I am grateful for the positive placements I had through GHR, my perception of the organization has changed significantly.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Ease of onboarding, continuous communication with the recruiting staff, competitive compensation, and variety of positions available.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being a contractor; having to keep your own records, "clocking-in and out" in a potentially different manner than your peers, and having to have a third party express concerns on your behalf are the only notable 'stressors' if they can be considered that. I only think of them as minor inconveniences.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Caring, compassionate special needs classrooms.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at the site, sign in, get settled, and receive the days assignment(s) and briefing from the lead teacher. Usually, this includes determining your break schedule and reviewing IEPs. Next, the students are received and brought to the classroom, and their academic day begins. Throughout the day, notes are taken according to the students' behavior plans as they are closely monitored and kept from harm and harmful behavior, while reinforcing positive, constructive behavior. At the end of the school day, the students are escorted to their respective modes of transportation, and the classroom is tidied up and prepared for the next school day and the record of your shifts hours are entered.

GHR is NOT Transparent on wage/hr. GHR expects you to request a prn shift without knowing what you'll make per hr. Unless you go out of the app & personally call HR to ask for the pay rate which us inconvenient & awkward when you have to decline the shift because the rate is ridiculously low.

When I first started with GHR things were great, however, the turnover with their staffing coordinators is abysmal. My last staffing coordinator was amazing and a very sweet girl but one day she was just gone. No explanation or anything. Sad to say, this was not the first time that this has happened. Also, a lot of the time you HAVE to stay on top of the coordinators and reach out to THEM when you want to work. Most of the time it feels like they have either forgotten about you or you get 600 calls within 3 hours for work when you've either told one person you can't work, or you're already working through another agency because they forgot about you!!

Communication really seems to be lacking with this company. Most of the time it seems like all they care about is many. I don't think the management is either paying attention to the way their company is working or what but no one ever seems to know what is going on. It's always "oh, I'll get back to you on that" or "I have to ask my manager." They nickel and dime you for everything when it comes to pay rate. You'll be lucky if you make a livable wage through this company.

The only reason I keep working here is because of the state of the job market. I will probably just move to one of the other agencies that works in the buildings they send me to.

This organization went through several changes in the time that I was in their employ.  Unfortunately, when those changes happened they were not rolled out effectively and in turn created quite a level of dissatisfaction amongst employees both internally and externally. 

My responsibilities mostly included networking and development with staff and businesses in order to ensure that staff had sustained employment and that the businesses I worked with had continuous staff and flexibility to decline their services should they no longer need them on short notice.  So, in my opinion, due to our being expected to handle situations such as these while holding up a certain margin of productivity would to me suggest that upper level management should be able to give the same finesse and delivery when eliminating bonuses entirely and increasing insurance while also removing all morale boosting activities. 

I learned quite a bit from this organization mostly on a professional level.  Much of what I have learned, I've taken with me.  Quite a bit of what I've learned has made me more savvy in seeking out the positions that I truly feel will be rewarding overall, and this does not only account for compensation.

I would start by assisting nurses taking blood pressures, blood sugars, and temperatures while they dispensed the residents medicine. Then pulled residents charts that were listed to be seen by the doctor, and then called them down and got all there vital signs before seen by the doctor. As the doctor finished his exams i would take the residents chart and follow the doctors orders. I would make outside appointments, arranged transportation, and set them up for blood work, which i drew myself onsite twice a week and then sent out to Quest Diagnostics. Filled out requisition forms, referrals, filed, and answered multi-line phone system as well as paging residents via intercom.

At the site management and co-workers were great everyone worked together, gave each other a helping hand if needed.

The hardest part of the job which was also an enjoyable learning experience was that the residents were either homeless, previous drug addicts, or had no family to care for them. They also ranged in age, race, and background.    

I am currently working for GHR as a contracted Occupational Therapy Assistant. I have worked for the company for almost 4 years as a full time employee on assignments in various Skilled Nursing Facilities and just recently on a Hospital Rehab Unit. I had the pleasure and pride working alongside a caring and patient driven team. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that I am part of a team that makes a difference in a person's life. I have gained many learning experiences to enhance my knowledge and skill base as a COTA/L and as an individual. The staff at GHR are friendly, professional and supportive to find good matches that fit into my lifestyle and with the client. The hardest part of the job is when you work somewhere great and the assignment has to end! If I have any questions , concerns the staff at GHR get back to me in a timely manner.

I enjoyed working with GHR as a paraprofessional, placement was great and they were extremely flexible when it came to placing me somewhere close to home. The pay was decent and getting paid weekly was definitely a plus! I really learned a lot  from my experience working with GHR and I don't regret it at all. However, when I decided to apply directly to the school district I was placed at I couldn't get hired right away due to the contract that they had with GHR. I tried communicating to GHR about it and I got no response back. I think GHR should communicate this with their employees, before getting hired because once you start working at your placement you'll want to end up working for the school itself as you can get more benefits and officially be apart of the school staff. It was definitely a struggle for me to get hired right away and I would have loved if GHR communicated that with me beforehand or even answered my emails when I had questions about the hiring process. 

The flexibility of temporary or contract jobs, along with a great pay rate and customizable benefits for those working 30 hours a week, is very appealing. 

The convenience of being able to manage everything from your phone, including uploading timesheets and choosing shift work, makes the job more efficient and accessible. 

Additionally, the ability to reach management easily at any time and the benefit of WEEKLY PAY are certainly valuable aspects working for them.  

GHR provides a lot of support and convenience for its workers. You do have to like to travel if not working a full time temporary contract at one facility. Contracts do pay much more than general staffing. 

GHR is a great place to work if you are looking for temporary work or a full time contract. I enjoy the flexibility. 

“My experience with GHR Education highlighted serious concerns regarding organization, communication, and accountability. I encountered repeated issues with administrative processes, compliance, and the level of support provided throughout my placement.

In several instances, these gaps were not addressed in a timely or effective manner, creating difficult working conditions and raising concerns about consistency in support for both staff and students. As someone who values professionalism, safety, and ethical standards, I found this particularly troubling.

While pay and benefits may be similar to other staffing agencies, I would strongly encourage prospective employees to carefully evaluate their options and consider organizations with more dependable systems, clearer communication, and stronger oversight.”
