I loved this job at first and I had all the best feelings about it. I threw my heart and soul into my position, but that was never enough.
Employee retention is non-existent. Because of this, their current employees are run into the ground until they also leave or become so burnt out that they just can't keep up anymore and are let go without notice. This place takes and takes and takes. You accrue sick time quickly, but PTO extremely slowly. You can't USE your sick time unless you have a doctor's not every single time. PTO has to be approved nearly a month in advance and they can always change their minds, or they'll wait until 2 days before your request to deny it. You'll find fake allies all around you, smiling in your face, promising support, while simultaneously picking you apart piece by piece. You will be given a work load that is entirely unreasonable some days and if you do not complete it, disciplinary measures will be taken. Or, my personal favorite: they'll roll back the time you've put into completing your tasks and say that you left sooner than you did. Wage theft. And they are completely unashamed of it. If you become leadership in any way, shape or form, you give up all rights to your personal life. You are expected to be constantly available and constantly on call with no exceptions. You are allowed no mistakes and no lee-way. In many houses, you will be the ONLY employee on staff for an entire house of residents.
Expectations of single staff member on shift:
• Cook
• Clean
• Laundry
• Medication Administration
• Showers
• Dressing/Undressing residents
• Toileting/Changes
• Serve/Clean up after meals
• Activities
• Stay past scheduled time if the next shift doesn't show up.
• Documentation on 6+ different platforms
• Work with full assist residents, while also maintaining the care of 8-13 others.
• *Working* breaks
• Etc.

The residents are amazing to work for. Often misplaced i.e memory care placed in independent living. Management and the owner often hand out backhanded compliments. If you need to call in for an emergency even with proper notice and coverage, they threaten you and say they will pay you minimum wage on your checks. They give you no notice and expect you to work extra hours if someone doesn’t show up with no support. They don’t answer when you have concerns but call you on your days off to pick up shifts they don’t want to work. The owner knows healthcare by YouTube videos and always tries to tell you how to do your job without proper knowledge. Would not recommend anyone to work for this company unless you prefer being miserable.

Good! Individual Senior Living home structures residences.

Good! Giving the residents an opportunity to engage & interact with their peers & everyone through a variety of social, spiritual, & intellectual activities to enrich their daily lives.

When I joined this place it was called Truewood by Merrill Scottsdale.  In September this place changed hands.  Terrible decision for all the worker bees!  The owners will tell you that they care about you, which are lies and more lies! They cut PTO and Sick days to EIGHT days per year total (that includes bereavement too) from 15 days per year for both (not incl bereavement) I hope they get it together in there, the seniors deserve way better and that was Truewood! As a caregiver I deserved better too. Avoid at all costs!  Overpriced for nothing!

Never enough care staff, never enough activity for residents, never enough money for the work you put in. You'll do things that aren't part of your job description, you'll have other employees that contribute nothing but get away with everything, because they live in apartments that the owners run, and their living there is contingent on employment. They will keep the bad employees simply because the owners are getting paid as landlords and they will tolerate terrible employees because they don't pay them as much because their paychecks go right back to the owners as rent. And they don't want to get rid of their easy income.

Management makes employees and residents feel bad for coming to them for solutions to issues they are facing. Staff is expected, not asked, to do extra work because of staffing issues due to perpetually ongoing high turnover. Cutting hours and overtime even though they are short staffed. Lack of competent medical oversight leads to errors.

I absolutely adored the residents I got to care for, especially their MPOA’s. Except management was an absolute nightmare. They do not care about you or your well being. I would work 12+ hour shifts completely by myself, then get berated when I told them I was tired, needed help, or was late on a medication (specifically when I was busy with a resident). Mind you, you’re playing the role as the housekeeper, cook, caregiver, qmap, and everything else. Please avoid this place at every cost 

Management is the worst I have ever had to work with. There are constant staffing changing. Salaried employees are expected to break their backs for the company and fill in empty shifts. Employees get no breaks and are forced to stay if no relief comes to them. Managment has a constant turn over and no one has consistency. False promises and very poor compensations and poor leadership that do not know anything about teamwork.
