What is the best part of working at the company?
Coming from the perspective of a non-IT member of staff, overall, there are fairly high-tech, state-of-the-art IT tools instituted at the company that are pretty regularly updated and improved upon; good IT support although not in every circumstance. Moderate IT staff turn-over, indicating IT management not very capable and not generally supportive of IT staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Despite company's claims that it offers a "work-life balance," no such balance exists - interested applicants: BEWARE of this false advertisement in company's job listings. In fact, the culture is one where management demands all staff without exception, eg receptionists included, work until management is satisfied, even if that means working late hours when you were supposed to leave early that day (and had advance approval) to see your kid perform in a school presentation, thus being a missing parent to your kid. Typically the reason for needing to work late is solely due to a very last minute but "absolutely urgent" need of management, and many times the need was something known by management days prior but there is a all too common issue of them waiting until the last minute - very few in management plan ahead. Very unorganized, leading to this unwarranted stress on staff. Also, management expects staff to reply to email/texts/phone calls 24/7, holidays included. Many mid-level staff often work on weekends. Timesheets typically show 60-70 hour weeks. Also the high productivity goals cause stress by causing staff - again, including receptionists! - to scramble to try to find billable work. Not meeting productivity goals will result in a negative annual review, thus negatively affecting salary increases - and this, after working 60-70 hour weeks. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Somewhat casual attire requirements - a positive. However, culture is one of intellectual elitism - most members of management and mid-level staff are very smart and accomplished but it seems they feel as though they need to continually prove this by undercutting others, making obnoxious comments and intimations through microaggresion means. Also, it's a very gossipy environment and it seems whoever is not "in the room" is subject to whispered accusations/rumors about him/her.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Racing against time to complete the boatload of work I'm responsible before the end of the day, and carrying an invisible shield to protect against someone else trying to unload work on me that they're responsible for. Also being generally on the defense, waiting for the next perceived little snafu to be questioned by a member of management (eg, "why did you write your email in this manner?!" when the email was written exactly the way requested); lots of criticism over work (and I produce high quality output) and very little encouragement/gratitude.

A major concern is the lack of experienced and well-prepared management. In some cases, leadership appears to operate without sufficient background or training for their role. Hiring decisions do not always seem to be aligned with clear planning or confirmed project needs, which can lead to uncertainty for employees.

There are also concerns around accountability. Instead of addressing issues constructively, responsibility can be pushed down to junior staff. Communication style is another challenge, as it can come across as unprofessional, and at times, even humiliating.

The overall management style tends to be overly controlling, with a strong focus on micromanagement rather than support or collaboration. There is limited mentorship or structured guidance, making it difficult for employees to develop their skills or progress in their roles.

As a result, the work environment may feel restrictive and not particularly supportive of long-term growth.

The most significant issue was the direct management. My manager consistently demonstrated behaviors commonly associated with toxic leadership, including excessive micromanagement, lack of trust, poor communication, and an absence of basic interpersonal and leadership skills. Instead of supporting the team, she often created unnecessary obstacles, escalated pressure, and made already challenging tasks significantly more difficult to complete. Collaboration and guidance were largely absent, replaced by a pattern of control-driven and, at times, retaliatory behavior that contributed to a highly stressful and unproductive work environment.
This was not an isolated experience, and I was not the only individual affected. Despite clear patterns of turnover and dissatisfaction, upper management did not take meaningful action to address these issues. The lack of oversight and accountability allowed this behavior to persist, ultimately making the workplace environment unsustainable.

The intern role has been an excellent opportunity for me to gain practical experience and insight into the industry. Throughout my time as an intern, I was able to work closely with various departments, providing support on projects that aligned with my academic background. I was involved in tasks such as data analysis, research, and assisting with day-to-day operations, which allowed me to apply my classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. The team was incredibly welcoming, offering guidance and constructive feedback, which helped me grow professionally. The role provided valuable exposure to the industry’s best practices, and the mentorship I received helped me develop important skills such as time management, communication, and problem-solving. Although the work could sometimes be fast-paced, the experience was rewarding, and I feel better prepared to pursue a full-time position in the field. Overall, it was an enriching experience that I would highly recommend.

The stars of this company are those that sacrifice their personal lives to have the most billable hours on their time sheets.  Lip service is paid to work life balance, but does not exist.  All administrative positions are viewed as a drain on the profitability of the company regardless of how important the work performed by these individuals might be.  Those at the very top seem to make it their mission to make all work functions of the company increasingly more difficult and time consuming, while fantasizing that the increased work load can be handled by the same number of individuals.  If you have another choice I would recommend that you steer clear of this company.  This company could be so much better, but that would require the old guard step away and allow new ideas and opportunities to flourish.

There really was no typical day at work. I worked with numerous engineers, geologist and doctors which seemed to call for daily rushing and quite often confusion. It was a nice place to work as it taught me a lot about what I am really capable of. I never really knew how much I was actually capable of until I started working here. This company is a place that requires a lot of last minute rushing to get deliverables and reports out the door on time. I found that working here I am capable of getting things done last minute even though it is not something that I enjoy. I the type of person who likes to have things done ahead of time and this company really did not allow for that which made me learn how to have patience!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits and the pay but it’s a harsh work environment and they expect you to resolve 10 things when you were only hired and train to do five. The micromanagement is a problem and the lack of actual training and Plano g of the goals

The workload and the obstacles which you have to figure out and be creative to solve it

Unfortunately there is no culture of acceptance foreign people let’s say if you re not an engineer everyone else doesn’t exist

I arrive before 9 a.m and my boss expects
Me to work till 7:00 pm there is no family and personal life work balance,

Nothing really, it was a very laid back environment, and everyone there was ready to help you at any given time

Very diverse company to work for!  The people  were very considerate and always gave a helping hand to each other when needed!

Sit down and look for the work that was given for the day and execute my work load! And throughout the day either the engineers would come to me and ask for my help with changing components or ask me to build something for them

Company has too many non-producing legacy executives with inflated salaries creating high overhead cost and inflated rates in order to carry this burden. Geosyntec only has one metric (chargeability). No metrics for: initiating client engagement, securing new MSAs, increasing client revenues, growing programs and keeping 10-15 people busy. Additionally new employees are routinely required to work beyond 50-60hrs per week and the company does not pay overtime.
