Daily work in out patient clinic includes:

Treating 10-14 patients in individual and small group settings

Work with both pediatric and adult patients

Document each session via electronic medical records

Periodic formal re-assessments as indicated by insurance requirements

I work with a core team of pediatric ST, OT, and OTA clinicians.  The approach includes a strong focus on relational, developmental, and sensory approaches.  Even in ST only session, we are able to incorporate use of our sensory gym and/or sensory play. 

My work with adults includes integrating PT and OT approaches/goals into overall functional goals for ST.  

I have learned a great deal about the importance of grading activities appropriately to insure success and continued growth for both adults and pediatric patients.  I have also learned to recognize and adjust to sensory needs of patients, particularly younger patients.

I work in an atmosphere of trust and cooperation.  Management supports the work of the clinicians.  My co-workers are compassionate and willing to go beyond what is expected in order to achieve best outcomes for our patients.  

The hardest part of the job is keeping up with the paperwork particularly getting doctors to sign reports as needed.  Also lack of natural light in treatment/office area takes a toll.

I enjoy working with people of all ages.  I am grateful to be able to work with both children and adults in one setting.  My work with pediatric clients has positively informed my work with adults.  I believe I can be more positive and allow for fun and playfullness in interactions with adults.  I particularly enjoy my work with attention and cognitive disorders with adults.  Working in collaboration with patients and their families is a pleasure.

This review is for full-time employees. I work per diem now, so a lot of what I have to say may not apply. Expect to have a poor work/life balance due to staffing issues. Requesting days off can be a pain at times due to nursing shortages. One big thing to keep in mind is that you'll get hired for one unit, but expect to float to a unit that isn't your specialty FREQUENTLY. This wouldn't be that big of an issue if they took the time to train all their nurses on all units so that they would be prepared for the different work environments. And even though you're working full-time, expect to receive frequent messages requesting you to come in to help. You have the right to say no, but it can get annoying at times. Finally, if you're a new graduate nurse, expect the starting salary to be on the low side, as in well below the state average of RN pay. This does get balanced out with sign on bonuses, however. 

On the positive side, the managers and supervisors are extremely friendly and approachable. I love working with all my coworkers. This hospital supports a very diverse welcoming environment. You never feel afraid to ask anyone for help. Because of all the floating, you will get a lot of experience in various areas IF that's what you're looking for. The training, overall, was good, but again, if they know you're going to be floating to different units a lot, then they should be upfront about it and better prepare their employees instead of throwing them to the wolves. Another positive is that they have a good preceptor program where you get paid a little extra for teaching a new employee.

Overall, not a bad place to work, just know ahead of time what to expect. 

I was a volunteer, so I did not get paid.  
My typical day at work consisted of helping residents and patients with their meal times, participating and leading recreational activities with the patients and residents of the hospital, reading to patients, playing games with the patients, going on field trips with the patients, and assisting the patients with day-to-day activities that they could not do themselves.  
I learned the importance of respect, and how the sick, elderly, and mentally challenged patients needed a companion or just someone to make them laugh or keep them company. 
My volunteer coordinator who was in charge of me was excellent, and helped me get set up with everything as well as checking in with me to make sure I was enjoying what I was doing.  
The hardest part of the job was seeing how the patients suffered and were not capable of doing things independently. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to help these patients in any way shape or form perform their daily activities that they were unable to perform themselves.  The patients enjoyed my company and enjoyed when I spent one-on-one time with them.  The patients also enjoyed when I participated in recreational activities and played games with them being that I am very patient and good with the elderly as well as those that have cognitive disorders and aren't able to communicate properly due to various reasons.

It's a shame that a place built with a great mission is run by power hungry, lying, back stabbing management that will smile in your face and tell you you're doing such a great job just to keep you "satisfied" with the work you do. Management will not have your back in lots of situations as they'll throw you under the bus to the higher ups just to cover themselves. Pay and benefits are semi decent but expect to work there for years and years to get some type of promotion or a decent raise. More work, more tasks, no pay increase. Also, FAVORITISM at it's finest at this place... oh boy. If you follow their every task and rule, you're fine. Once you question something that isn't right... they'll find some reason to fire you with no appeals or questions asked. Management as well as the people in the HR department are spiteful, power tripping individuals who will definitely see you only as a number, not an actual human being. BEWARE OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT HERE! 

My time as manager was during a time of extreme changes to culture of company.  I assisted in the organization of a new department of Centralized Patient Services while at the same time learning and training new Cerner software.

My typical day included meetings all day discussing;

The cut-over process for the new software, 
Creation of spreadsheet to transfer from old software to new software
Examining the current workflows of my staff to create new workflows to be effective during transition period
Communicating these changes to staff
Creating new workflows for after go-live of new system.
Assist the updating of Telephony to make the workflows possible
Brainstorming tracking Authorization options

Had to have a sense of humor for the stress that was intense.  Hardest part of the job was the constant change of workflow and having to communicate  that to staff

Most enjoyable part of job was knowing that we were all in it together heading towards crunch time.

i was already being underpaid compared to the market average and then I found my job posted online for more $ an hour. when i asked about it i was told from HR that it was an “estimated rate” and the website put that in (they didn’t, because it would’ve said estimated and not have the pay rate in the title and description)… as well as they removed the experience and education requirement with the listing. I asked for a raise after this and was told no. I let it go though because it was a decent job besides the pay until suddenly I was met with a new manager. There is more I could go into but I just want to say I deeply regret leaving another bigger hospital in the area for here. I took a cut in so many more benefits for hoping to be treated better, and I was at first… but not since the new manager took over. There’s a reason why the last one left!! it’s a shame! And I can’t even go to HR with my concerns as I now can’t trust them from before, so I’m gone.

The pay mediocre at best. 

Management is essentially invisible. Seriously.. when they tell you they take a “hands off” approach, they mean it. You are essentially on your own in this place to figure out and deal with anything. 

The HR department is an ABSOLUTE disgrace. They are useless, rude, and unresponsive. They’ll also make any attempt to screw you out of pay you should be getting.

It is very unclear what your actual job description is, most of what you’ll get stuck doing are things that are supposed to be someone else’s job- hardly anything you’ll do is actually related to security. 

Despite being severely short-staffed there is no initiative to improve working conditions or increase pay. 

Working here is basically like the security version of “The Office”. If you don’t mind working a job that makes absolutely no sense and gives you no sense of purpose; and if you’re okay with getting screwed over and treated like gum on the bottom of someone’s shoe-it’s pretty easy money. 

Working for this company is like being in school all over again. In the sense that you only show to have fun with your friends. It always felt like the supervisor were never there when you need their help. But they magically appear to tell you did wrong in a situation. Mind you if they would of just help you in the first place that situation wouldn’t of happen to start with. HR is never around but will do things illegal and cover their butts once a lawyer is involved. Once you get tired of their promise of higher pay and being over work they make your life their horrible so you can quick. Supervisors will throw you under the bus in front of patients or visitors or other management to make themselves look good you the front line for them to step on to reach their success. It’s literally the live action movie of mean girls but the ugly girls are the popular ones which is crazy drama and gossiping is your pay !! 

My day is not so typical at work in comparison to other jobs. I start by walking in ad stocking the linen cart for my assigned hall. Then I begin passing out the linen I need for my residents I will be washing and assisting to bed that evening. I do afternoon rounds on the residents that are incontinent and get everyone ready for dinner in the dining room. After dinner I take break and then proceed to start getting my residents into bed. My coworkers are always willing to help with a resident that requires and assist of 2 and they never complain about having to help. The hardest part of the job is the labor intensive aspect of caring for these residents. It is alot of heavy lifting and turning and puts a real strain on you and your body. The best part of the job is getting to know the residents and being able to put a smile on their faces everyday.
