The company will recruit you and make the environment and opportunity seem amazing. But what they do not tell you is the lack of training they provide and unorganized staff they have all been there only a couple of years in management positions not knowing how to effectively manage or direct. Everyone for the most part wings it and the certification they make you get is pointless for the field. You stress for no reason just to get the P&C license and then are told you’ll never have to use that for the most part. So many people are thrown at accounts with others who worked on them prior with the same experience as you so most times notes are not inputted well and you have to figure out what is going on. The “trainers” for the most part just tell you to call the carrier to figure out the problem due to them not knowing themselves. Then they changed the pay structure and you no longer get bonuses which were nice. They also changed the attendance structure during training and the leaders themselves did not even explain properly leaving multiple people in the dark. They are constantly hiring large classes due to most everyone quitting during the training months after the favoritism and constant employee fraternization becomes more evident and those walking around all day everyday doing nothing get told nothing. Of course those actually trying to work get told something just for not being in the right setting during calls or coming back 1min after break. They will turn and burn through people in order to find the right mechanical cogs to make their junk mobile of a business plan stay the course for as long as they can. They do not care for you even though that is the normal pitch for most companies, it all boils down to who you know and if you were part of the original team that started here in San Antonio. Good luck unless you brown nose tf out of the HR rep and office manager or are seeing someone else in the company (that seems to help). Oh but the pay is ok granted you know how to keep your metrics up even if their systems throw you out of adherence (they won’t fix that for you) and you somehow end up just below where you need to be to have a perfect score for the so called raises they give you further down the road. Their systems never seem to work well and somehow it’s the employees job to work past that (makes sense) and still hit quotas and hit the metrics that determine raises. The company is still growing and changing so maybe eventually when more seasoned people are there and the originals are moved around then maybe just maybe the juice with be worth the squeeze.

Amazing environment surrounded by hard working people. Everyone really does care. 
The downfall is after Covid all the cracks that were previously hidden are showing. It’s a hard job where you will work many hours. If you have a good attitude and results you will get promoted. Job security is top notch. Reason I stayed as long as I did. 
People stay for each other and the job security. After Covid everyone wanted to be remote( which they wouldn’t even let you do. It’s two weeks in office, two weeks out) but the culture is losing its spark. The work isn’t worth it anymore bc the relationship building isn’t there. It is now a full on call center with chaotic growth. 
Service has always been second class but the way they invest so heavily in sales technology while service continues to have little to no innovation for our department. Sales has continued to be become easier while servicing is so complicated with all the states and carriers. Towards the end it felt like no one cared. Just do your calls and cases and pretend it’s not terrible.  They will continue to grow but it’s coming at a much bigger price, the quality of the people. They will have to start outsourcing some of the work bc the work that sales drives in is just too much. ZERO accountability for sales. Only make it easier for them to do less. And If you have a suggestion leadership tells you “sales agents would never go for that” as if it were a choice.
I ultimately didn’t want to leave but at some point it just isn’t worth it. Maybe this wave of attrition will help them be able to have leverage with CEO & President to make some real change, invest in some real working technology, hold sales accountable, and be the place I know they are trying to be but letting pride or greed get in the way.   

Started at Goosehead earlier this year.
The recruiter and the information given to you beforehand almost make this job sound like it's worthwhile. Unfortunately, it is not. 
The salary they offer you in the beginning sounds amazing, and for the first little while it is! But when you do the math you are only making around $17 an hour (if not less!) for 45 hours + of your week. And don't even get me started on the time off. Another worrying piece of trivia about the company is the fact that management loves to play "gotcha!" when you follow their orders to a T. "Oh, we don't do it like that, we do it like THIS." Then the next manager comes over "well you misunderstood, we do it like THIS!" and it's just an infinite loop.

Also, the first day you get into the office they threaten to fire you, no joke. And they continue to do so throughout the onboarding process.

If you are confused about what the job is as I was, let me summarize it for you: This is a call center job with an insurance theme. You know how at other call centers they have "Football Ticket" campaigns every fall? This is one of those, but instead of trying to sell or keep people on football season passes, you're trying to sell and retain insurance business.
Also, they will force 30 minutes of over time on you multiple times a week. This is supposed to be "fun" and prove you're a "team player".
A large part of your job is going to be cleaning up the messes the other departments make while none of your management can agree on how to solve a certain issue and nag at you if you do what you feel is right.

The people are actually very kind as long as they are not directly above you. But call centers are where creative minds go to die. 


I was employed during the massive Texas Freeze of 2021 and didn’t receive so much as a thank you for all of the overtime put in. This is a fast-paced environment, all right - so fast-paced, you’ll understand why the customer satisfaction scores are sinking so horribly. Your job is to take calls consistently, and you’re SOL if you need to actually help with any sort of answers for customers because your time for cases, both past and present, will require you to use your lunch hour to work through them all plus your 30-minute designated case time. Their claims of upward mobility are idealist at best, and they’re losing service agents regularly due to the burnout after being stuck on phones for months, some for years. You’re lucky to have a consistent manager during your time there, much less a competent one that does anything but be on phones themselves because they don’t have enough agents to deal with the call volume. Be prepared to take an additional half hour to an hour after your shift ends to help with the call volume but for no extra pay for overtime. They WILL do this to you DAILY. You will be an underwriter, a sales agent, a billing agent, a claims specialist, and a call center employee for five figures a year, (this salary is to apologize for their abysmal benefits,) but I guess the break room is nice. Pretty campus too; you might get a chance to see it when you leave for home at 9pm. Take your resume and run, preferably in the opposite direction, from Goosehead Insurance.

Our work day at this company is trying to meet goals that recently have changed and the structure is made up by management/leadership who does not know what the work day entails. My opinion is that this is not an efficient method for any company and this will result in less quality due to the fact that management sets these goals but also does not know how to process some of the cases themselves and are too busy in meetings to help so questions some agents have get left unanswered and are forced to keep following up. The hardest part of the job is that we are constantly having to fix other people’s mistakes and that requires time for carriers to process on their end but as a result it hurts our goals because.. again they are not where they should be if the company wants quality work. I believe in quality and integrity and I have given this company this. I think this company needs to reevaluate what “Integrity” means to them. After all it is written on the walls in the facility and I loved that and used to believe it.  The most enjoyable part working there was that I felt like I was useful and doing something important and managing tasks at a fast pace. That part was okay for me.  I believe I learned things here but also learned that sometimes companies won’t hold their integrity even for the people that have worked for them for years. I am grateful for everything that I learned positive things and the negative things because that’s how we learn to better ourselves. 

My experience with goosehead started great, there were tons of promises . Leaders were friendly and supportive. Month 2 was one of the worst with “TG” you could start seeing everyone’s true colors . Managers had their favorites and leaders had no experience with the training process . Most of them had been with the company less than a year and got promoted. You could tell they only got promoted because they were liked and had influence. The work load is ridiculous and you were expected to follow up with clients every single day and couldn’t close a case without someone else looking into it. Too many changes all the time . There is no stability and you are expected to do 10 cases in 30 minutes. Plus the micromanaging from leaders is ridiculous they want to do what you are doing at all times. Stay away from here if you want a job were you want work and life balance. This is not for you as you are expected to take a call a minute before your shift ends. Did I tell you about shady sales agents lying to clients just to get their commissions bonus!? I had so many calls from clients upset about sales agents giving them policies they did not ask for or sales agents selling renters and auto policies when the client is homeowner and had a policy elsewhere. Goosehead you need to investigate those shady sales agents.

Working here was an incredibly frustrating experience due to poor management, constant micromanagement, and a lack of transparency that made it difficult to feel secure in the role. There was an overwhelming amount of pressure to produce at all costs, including being pushed to write policies I was not always confident were accurate, which created a lot of stress and ethical discomfort. Leadership was often absent from the floor when support was needed, yet extremely involved when it came to monitoring numbers, and the environment felt more fear-driven than growth-oriented. The “flexible schedule” was anything but, with an unspoken expectation to work nights and weekends and a culture where leaving at 5 or not taking your laptop home was frowned upon. On top of that, frequent repetitive meetings, a very high turnover rate, and changes to compensation—like reduced commissions and removal of renewals—made it feel like a lot was being asked without fair return. Overall, it felt like a place where performance was demanded but employees were not truly supported or valued.

The company culture was deveined, I enjoyed working with the people in my office and established meaningful friendships. However, the work/life balance was awful. After getting hired I found out  the company lie to me and several new hires regarding pay, hours of operation and work/life balance situation. Everyone was told something different. The only good thing I will say about this company, is the culture was awesome because I truly enjoyed working with the staff in my office. 
Yes, it is true work days last for 10 hour (8:00-6:00) unless you are tenure than your hours are a bit more flexible meaning you have the opportunity to work from home. 

Make sure you pass the insurance test or already have your license because they WILL fire you after failing the 3rd time. 
 
Turnover rate is extremely high... they are ALWAYS hiring, at least every other month a group of new individuals will begin working at the company. In my opinion this this why the high turnover rate is high. 

The choice is yours however, it isn't worth it... not if you're looking for a long term employment situation. 


From the beginning, there have been nothing but lies. They sale you a dream of making $50K+ then they SNATCH it from you with "neutral" (8 0r 7) or "detractors" (6 and below) surveys, because they state they are a company of standard and excellence -LIES! Every call you get they are mad at service and price! So best of luck achieving a (9 or 10) on your surveys. Also, they say they call to ask customers to see if they will change their minds- LIES AGAIN! 

If you are liked then you will succeed, if not they will buy their time to find a way to fire you. leave you hanging in the wind, literally.

You will be salary, so expect to leave and then they say, "take one more call." Not asking, either. You have to complete so many cases if not you find work/life balance is thrown out the window.

The "Top Gun" leaders are NOT TRAINERS...no experience but they brown nose so well that they get that title and screw your world. There are (2) individuals within that team that are truly what their title is. 

Save yourself stress and wasted energy! STAY AWAY from this company!!!

If your ideal work place is a place where management is constantly breathing down your neck this is the place for you. Management sells you on a lie that your leads will be amazing sales will be incredibly easy to make but its a lie. Referral partners the company pays for are horrid making it difficult to make sales. Clients get fed up with the auto dialer system that calls them 8 or more times a day. Management is almost never around due to constant meetings daily and when they are around they are not there to help they are there to scold anyone they can for the smallest things. I watched multiple coworkers get written up for reading at their desk or listening to podcast while completing quotes for prospects. Sales skill development is not the best all they care about is that you are able to read a script word for word. Sales coaches other than 2 person almost know nothing and just tell you to ask teammate for help when you have a question. I would run this job was horrible, everyday I felt myself dying a little more inside.
