One of the worst work environments I have been in. No one seems happy with their job. There are few people that will great one another. Daily, coworkers are complaining about their job stress, management and administration, at times in tears. Including within earshot of patients. During orientation, admins will tell you stories how they were impressed with how friendly everyone was when they first started and that they have never been to a company like this before. Not only is that not true but I have yet to see admin checking in with staff. 
 
Each department is so independent that no one wants to help each other out. If something needs be be loaned to another department, it is met with complaints and pettiness instead of understanding and desire to help. If it's not their job, they won't do it. No one seems to know anyone outside of their bubble. Even supervisors can not tell you the roles or duties of some of the management and admin. There are cliques and favoritism seems to show but that is just my personal perception. The large amount of gossip does not help. There are no opportunities to learn or help when you can unless it specifically applies to your job. With that, there will often be staff working hard to get caught up with their duties while co workers will be hanging out in break rooms rather than pitching in with simple tasks. The response to this is to just hire more staff for those roles rather than cross train. 

On the plus side, it seems patients are getting the care they need though I have seen improper bed side manors. Going through orientation myself, staff are not taught respect and dignity or to think about what they say and when. For example, asking adults if they need to "go potty."

All of the management needs classes on how to treat colleagues and not all that TUL stuff that is crammed down your throat. Managers, directors and some providers are very unprofessional and take pleasure in bullying and abusing the staff. Overall this is not a good place to work. This is a horrible place to work, it is very toxic and with the hostile work environment, I do believe that my time working here has affected myself mentally and socially.  I am not the same anymore. You become overworked, underpaid, stressed out, start having panic attacks, anxiety and lose your self-esteem thanks to this place! It will never change,  many times it was reported to HR; still, nothing was done. Instead, it becomes all your issues and you get written up. Someone needs to “clean house” with ALL managers, directors and many providers. Only then maybe it will become a better place to work. I have moved my entire family and that includes distant family as well as friends. I will never have any of my family or friends go to this place.

I’ve worked at GH the past 3 years and when transferred to the ED, I never received compensation for skills I had that were required but not a part of my job description (interpreting). Not to mention I was mistreated by coworkers and when I would report it, I was the one to get the talk. My time outside of work was not respected since the department created a work group chat through messages and therefore I would receive a bunch of work related texts 24/7. Didn’t appreciate the work culture nor the help to grow my career. I recently quit. I am now graduated and plan to only work outside of the ED in hospital. If you are up for a challenge and want experience in the ED and hospital setting this is the department. But thats about it.

I have worked here for over 5 years now and I am so thrilled to be working at Goshen Health! Healthcare overall is a rewarding place to be, but the Colleagues at Goshen Health are unlike anything I have experienced before. We all work hard to drive our mission and live out of values every day (every Colleague knows our mission and values!) and it makes a difference when you feel like you have an entire team working beside you. Is it perfect? No - name one health system during this pandemic that is. You can't. But we are a team full of strong leaders with a heart for serving others and it is a wonderful place to work. I highly recommend the entire organization!

EVS workers are treated like dirt!  Every other department gets celebrated for their job (Nurses week, etc.) but when EVS week came around nothing, we didn’t even realize it was EVS week till another department gave us a dozen donuts for break on the last day of it!  Most of the other departments also treats us like we are the mud on the bottom of their shoe!  I’ve never felt so unappreciated for all the hard work we do!  As far as PTO time, we weren’t allowed to take any PTO time off from September till the end of the year!  They preach all about CARE, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, but that only applies to most Patients, not to employees. We get points for doctors excused absences, even if we got hurt or sick on the job!   It might be a good place to go to as a patient, but wouldn’t recommend working there. 

I loved working for the Goshen ER. I never would have left if I hadn't moved away. The management has your back and were ER nurses themselves before becoming management. I felt the pay was fair for the area/cost of living. I enjoyed meeting patients from the Amish communities and other local communities. I did not use Goshen's insurance, but I did not hear too many terrible things about it. Facility is beautiful; before I left the ER could have used some help with newer equipment. 

I found the parking situation to be tough during my time there. You were only allowed to park in certain areas depending on your job and years of service. The ER staff usually only parked in the one lot - often we ran out of spots on that lot and had to park a long way away. 

Unfortunately they have great physicians BUT a lot of people “trying” to manage but no one helps, trains or manages.
Little to no training, hired for one job- ended up doing at least a 2 person job for not half the pay of 1 person.
Pay is very, very low and benefits won’t pay out even though they are at a great price/look good on paper, insurance company has to be fought for months to pay claims. 
Very, very understaffed was hard to use the PTO I earned due to no staff to work for me so I could get off for my kids or myself for dental or medical visits. 
Long hours working on multiple jobs handed your way but no extra compensation. 

Colleagues are compassionate and caring.  It helps make the day go better when you have great people to work with.  Upper management cares about colleagues, and were willing to take pay cuts themselves, and implemented different strategies during the start of the pandemic in order to keep non-clinical colleagues paid & working.  This has been a common theme throughout my years here--there has never been a lay-off of colleagues for >20 years.  Benefits are great.  
Taking care of patients can be the most enjoyable and the hardest part of the job, but it is rewarding.  Of all the places I have worked, Goshen is the best and has treated me well.  


The Nutrition Therapy department receives good support and continuing education opportunities. Was able to transfer positions from inpatient work to outpatient in the hospital system easily with support from colleagues and supervisors involved. 

The pandemic experience was hard for everyone. When lockdown first started and many departments were temporarily closed the upper management took a temporary paycut so that the company didn't need to layoff anyone and those not working would continue to get 50% of their normal income. 


I have worked at Goshen Health since 2002.  They were very flexible in my developing a position that worked well for me with another part time job in the community.  Even when I changed that part time position they remained flexible and supportive.  I have been full time at Goshen since 2018 and I am still very happy with the culture of the health system.  There is more flexibility here then in many health systems.  During the pandemic protecting workers and providing great care for patients have been the top priorities.  I work with a great group of people.
