What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As a Peer Support Specialist at Grady, one of the most stressful parts is holding space for guests who are often in deep crisis—whether it’s related to trauma, mental health, substance use, or housing instability. You hear a lot of heavy stories, and sometimes it’s hard not to carry that with you. The fast-paced environment and high patient turnover can make it challenging to build longer-term connections. But even in the stress, it’s powerful work. You learn to meet people where they are, and that impact stays with you.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment at Grady is fast-paced, diverse, and mission-driven. As a Peer Support Specialist, you’re surrounded by professionals who are passionate about helping people, even in the most challenging situations. The culture encourages teamwork, resilience, and empathy. There’s a strong sense of purpose here—everyone knows we’re serving a community that really needs us. It’s not always easy, but the support from colleagues and the shared commitment to recovery and justice make it a powerful place to grow.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?

A typical day for me as a Peer Support Specialist at Grady involves meeting guests where they are—emotionally and mentally. I help with intake and orientation, build rapport through shared experiences, and provide emotional support to those in crisis. I often sit with guests during high-stress moments, talk them through coping strategies, and help them set short-term goals. I also support case managers by helping guests follow through with resources like housing, mental health care, or substance use recovery options. Every day is different, but my focus stays the same: to offer hope, stability, and a nonjudgmental space where people feel seen and supported.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients. I really enjoyed it overall with the patients.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It is sad to say but the team I was on was quite toxic. I was able to see it the first week I was on my team. I worked on the ACT team which is part of outpatient behavioral health at Park Place. The nurse practitioner and the social worker made it a toxic work environment. I hope it has improved however if they are still there it is the same. I also made the manager and program director aware of it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The area I worked in was toxic. It was a team however when you have that type of culture you do not feel valued.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I am no longer employed but I was out in the community with the patients.

Working in the kitchen as a dishwasher the work was straightforward. Meals had a set time, trays were to be collected and processed by a set time, and preparation for the next meal had a set time. Little time for idle chatter, and usually less for meals. Moving to materials management in the basement as a supply distributor, work day consisted of a shelf count of several areas in the morning, resupplying them to last for the day, and processing any incoming freight, as well as answering any special requests from doctors and aides on the floor of the hospital as they came up.

I had the opportunity to work almost every type of shift available, from day shift to graveyard, and I thoroughly enjoyed every experience.
My management was very flexible with any requests I had and was willing to work with me for any vacation time that I needed. I was given freedom to perform my duties independently and without the need for supervision. Also, I was entrusted to be able to fix any minor corrections needed as they arose.
One of the most enjoyable aspects in my work was the interaction with the patients as I performed my duties.

Having the opportunity to upgrade my skills.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Staying on top of things,  because sudden conflicts do occur sometimes.




What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is just like all health care setting, you meet people of all different culture that are in need of medical help.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is like working a 8 hour shift that involves leading a helping hand for those who are sick and severely injured.

I enjoy my work at Grady Memorial Hospital in the laboratory, as everyone within the lab is friendly and supportive. However, the daily drive is further and more dangerous than I originally anticipated, and the HR department is not supportive, friendly, or professional.
     My desire is to settle in a clinical laboratory career for the next 15-20 years that is not under a punitive and threatening HR department.

The opportunity to work at aTrauma center I see a wide variety of cases

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unrealistic goals, and the unfairness of untrained, immature, unqualified managers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic environment- being at the behest of someone’s temperament and insecurities.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very physically and mentally exhausting.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Atlanta can not live without Grady

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Traffic can be horrible getting to work but if you take the Hill Street exit it is good but some employees don’t know about that way. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some people don’t understand the southern hospitality especially if they are not from Atlanta

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy busy busy. It makes the time fly pass.

The teamwork that everyone is dedicated to is priceless. I love working here

dealing with the end of life that's a part of my job.  this is just what i do. i have been chosen to do

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
wonderful, i love coming to work everyday!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
stress free and busy. I find it easier to o a job that I have been called to do.  It's not work when you enjoy it.

I’ve experience many times where I’ve been more than qualified for a position and the person who got it was someone who was a managers son or daughter. If neither of those it was someone sleeping with a family member. I find it amusing when you have multiple family members in management positions over the same departments at different locations. Probably one of the worst employers I’ve had. HR is an absolute joke. You call and they never want to be helpful. Instead they tell you to email them after you finally reach someone after an hour of hold time.
