Like others here have said about the Grandbrook in Rogers, it all rings true. Management (Executive Director, and her favorites) who do not follow through on communication, grievances, or actions to correct employees who bully others and make the staff turnover extremely high. Cannot keep employees due to instances of racism, favoritism, hateful work environment. Hiring people with no experience, just because they are friends with the boss/ desperate for workers as new hires don’t stay for long. Management seem friendly and nice to get you in the door but once hired never speak to you, answer your calls or texts. DOH will verbally reprimand you for not wearing proper color GB t shirt or wrong color scrubs when there are more serious issues he overlooks, scrub colors should be at the bottom of the barrel compared to other things. If you are a close friend of the boss your time here will be easy and you can slack all you want and wander the halls while the other aides pick up your slack. Nurses have it just as bad ! By the way, NO NURSE in the facility overnights! Frequently only ran by 3 Aides. If one aide calls out, and coverage is not found in time, (happens very frequently with people quitting/ getting burned out) only 2 aides on the carefloor with no nurses and an unresponsive management team that wont even come in to help and make sure aides can have a break, expected to work with no breaks.  During day, One nurse for 30+ residents! The LPNs are run to the ground and the hard working ones who care get pushed out/ burned out. Nurses never able to take lunch break. Staff is warned to not leave premises even on your unpaid lunch break! With no assigned break room! Not able to eat on tables. Caregivers and nurses have a hard time making their lunch break/ breaks and management turn a blind eye.  Beautiful building, but no attention to an employee breakroom in the blueprints which baffles me. Never have worked somewhere with no break room. No break room! Expected to eat/ take break in your car. If you dont have a car, tough luck. Maybe wonder around the parking lot. Lots of good employees, overlooked and under appreciated. If you are even able to get a break or lunch break. No vending machines on site. Employees are not valued and minorities might as well count themselves out of the inner circle of favorites. Bonuses never paid out because of the actions of others. Residents not given attention or time. Residents are lovely, if only the facility was overseen by management with experience, fairness, and dignity. Rogers Grandbrook needs a serious visit from corporate and interview aides independently about the issues going on! I feel bad for friends who still work there, although most everyone has quit, no longstanding employees. Due to management. Families complained a lot about issues. Avoid this place until corporate cleans house! Could be a great place to work, lots of potential but not with the current administration.

The atmosphere at Grand Brook is different from any job I've had before.  First of all the company is family owned and operated.  All the top positions (President, CFO, etc) are staffed by brothers and sisters.  They are a hands on group of people and will help in anyway to make sure the individual locations are successful. I've watched the President of the company mow the grass because "It needed it"!  I've watched all of the family unload and set up furniture in a new facility.  The local Directors make sure that you have everything you need to do your job.  They encourage feedback and roll up their sleeves to the ensure the care of our residents is top notch.  As with any job sometimes things can get a little chaotic but there is never a time when you are so busy you don't have time to sit and hold a residents hand and provide comfort, reassurance and enjoyment. I love spending time with my residents just listening to their stories and laughing with them.  They truly become my family and I love them all deeply.  The worst part of my job is when it's time to say goodbye to them for the last time.  All of us grieve the passing of a resident but we are all happy in the fact that we made a difference in their lives.  Getting the opportunity to make that difference, even a small difference, every day  is the best part of my job...   Very few jobs offer that kind of satisfaction.  Here at Grand Brook we are encouraged to make that difference.  Caring for people with memory care issues can be challenging but in the right environment it is so rewarding.  I've worked for other companies that had too many Chiefs and not enough Indians and everyday i went to my JOB and then just went home.  It's not like that at Grand Brook.  Everyone from the caregivers to the owners help each other because ultimately, that's what it takes to care for our... Family.

This is not an easy job, by any means, and it is not for everyone. This is why many do not succeed in this field. It takes special people to work in this field. You can train a person, but they have to have heart, compassion, and empathy to work with our Seniors.
I will compare our company to a well-built house. It begins with a solid foundation( the owners) and you build on top of that foundation with quality materials (management) then you fill this solid structure with love and compassion (staff). With a weak foundation, the structure will fall.
The Owners are great and treat employees like family. They pay attention to the needs of their communities and are quick to address any issues that might arise. 
The management team is excellent and fair, they will try to find solutions for any problems that may arise, whether personal or work-related. The care staff works well as a team. Before COVID, I would hear so many compliments from families, visiting friends, therapists, and even visitors with The State, saying ”The Residents are so engaged”, or ”how much like home it feels” and a host of other compliments. Not to mention the compliments we received from our Residents.  The company as a whole did an excellent job when COVID materialized. Our staff did whatever it took to keep our Residents, Families, and Staff safe. 
Management also pays great attention to employees who show great work ethics and are team players. They also recognize employees' job performance and rewards them accordingly.
Grand Brook is a great company to work for, but it is not for the lazy or none-team players.



Memory care is a very hard job and when they are not hiring to fill a role it is fun and fulfilling.  When they take the time to look for people that are a good fit for the environment makes team work a thousand times easier.  The caregivers that actually care about their job are great to work with and you can see how much they love what they do through their actions. Management is management, you will disagree with a lot of what they do sometimes, and home office will not answer you directly either at all or after several months.  Unfortunately they don't really take time to look for that perfect fit so turnover rate is very high.

Having worked in senior care for almost 20 years, I have worked for some of the big providers in town.  It's great to finally work for a company that is more concerned with providing the care a resident needs over making a huge profit.  As a family owned company, there is no bureaucracy and red tape and the priority is resident care.  They do have to operate within a budget, of course, but that goes with any place.  The management is not afraid to work the floor and do what is needed.   The owners value your input and appreciate your contributions.  As with any job, there will be good days and stressful days.  At the end of the day, we are here to take care of our residents.  If you DON'T care about seniors, this is not the place for you.  

Please do not work here, do not send your family here. Place hires anyone, shows favoritism. If you work second shift you get no break although they still take it out of your pay. If you really care about your loved ones you would not consider GrandBrook Garland. Management does not appreciate the hard workers , the people that go above and beyond. They laugh in your face and are evil behind your back. Pay is not good for the amount of work. You become tired within the first hour of your shift. There are not enough caregivers for the amount of residents there are to care for. Proper paperwork is not filled or missing for residents when it comes to emergencies or death of residents. State is often called at this property for many rule violations.  This place needs to be torn down. Plain and simple. I quit because I was treated more like a slave than an employee. 

Worked here for quite awhile and started to understand and see why this company is failing. Management is TERRIBLE - executive director and those supposed to be involved in healthcare have no knowledge of healthcare or how to lead. Coworkers talk bad about each other and the “management” creates drama and a negative environment. Workers are way overworked and not appreciated, which shows why the turnover rate is terrible. I have seen multiple med errors with my own eyes thrown under the rug. I wish the owners really cared about the residents. It seems like all they care about is the paycheck they receive from the neglected residents. I do not miss working here at all. The only reason I stayed was for the residents, but I couldn’t tolerate working in these conditions anymore. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
There was nothing good about this company! All they cared about was money and definetly not the seniors living there. They could care less of the residents were sick, injured, dirty, unhappy, sad or dying. It’s all a facad…☹️

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Owners not having a clue! Directors are hired to put on a fake face, and sell units. Staff slept on the job, stole from the residents, and rarely did their jobs…

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The aids decide th culture, which lacks initiative, empathy and entegrity.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I no longer work with the company. I knew too much about what really went on.

1st shift lead and ADON where the only two in management that I full heartedly trusted. Activities was cool I didn't mind them, they where nice. With that being said, 1st shift lead and ADON did their best and tried their hardest to assist in anyway that they could while the ED legit told me "It sucks but everyone has to stay over sometime." When it wasn't even my on call day. When I got hired I got told that I would only have to stay if it was my on call day - that's a straight up lie. If they use the on call already they will mandate someone to stay other than management stepping up and helping. 
There's so many people there who are sneaky, two faced, and not worth the trust or the stress. Not only that but they don't even respect your boundaries. Don't do it, find something else. 

The facility is very beautiful.  Being a nurse was a horrible nightmare.  You were lucky if you had 4 CNA'S  on a shift. It was incredibly difficult to get the meds passed and all of the charting done,  because as a nurse you are actually working the floor constantly due to the facility not having enough staff. No med carts. Meds are stored in little plastic bins in cabinets.  The owners want it to, "feel like home." That's a great concept,  but then you see other nurses passing 2 or 3 patient's meds at the same time. No room for medication errors there! I went in on one shift,  and when I   started my med pass, there were 4 med cups for 4  different  residents that the day nurse did not pass. Terrible experience.
