I currently work as a Physical Therapist Assistant in home care, and this company has been a very rewarding place to grow professionally. The flexibility of scheduling allows for a healthy work–life balance, while still maintaining a strong focus on high-quality patient care.

Management is supportive and responsive, and communication between therapists and office staff is efficient and respectful. I appreciate the autonomy I have in treating patients in their home environments, which allows for truly functional, meaningful interventions. The company values clinical judgment and encourages collaboration when needed.

The patient population is diverse, providing consistent opportunities to expand clinical skills and problem solving abilities. If you are self motivated, compassionate, and enjoy working independently while still being part of a supportive team, this is a great place to work.

I worked at granite VNA for 9 years (total with the transition from Concord Regional VNA to Granite VNA). In that time I had 2 children, bought a house, and adopted a puppy. Granite VNA practices what they preach about work-life balance. Managers are helpful and eager to help you move forward from any grievances you may have. Education department works with you to solve any concerns. HR is knowledgeable and kind. Productivity can be a challenge with healthcare in the current political climate. Earned time is generous as compared to my past jobs. 2 weeks earned time, right from the start. You earn as you go and time will roll over until you reach the cap. You can also request up to 2 weeks reembursement for excess earned time at the end of the year.  I felt respected as a clinician in my time there. 

I was recruited to this position by a family member employed by Granite VNA. I have been impressed by the way the culture here promotes teamwork and positivity. I was warmly welcomed by everyone I met in my first days on the job and quickly felt that I was part of the team.  Administration and managers are approachable and supportive too. All employees are treated with equal respect. I have the supplies and equipment I need to work in the office and can transition to remote work if needed. I am not micromanaged and I feel that my integrity is honored. I haven't felt this happy in a job in quite some time.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Support is always there from management.  Training is exceptional and the attention to consistency and patient care is top notch.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My experience was in the hospice facility which is always full of grieving family so stress can be high and you need to be very aware of patient AND family care!  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff are a team and work very well together!  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Report - patient safety check and follow through with patient care and family needs as they arise, working closely with your assigned nurse.

Granite VNA is on the up and up of adapting to the changes in workforce and healthcare.  They are seeking feedback more often from employees and open to growth.  To work here you need to have the ability to work on your own, although you have a whole team to back you up with any questions or concerns.  The work life balance is one of the greatest benefits.  It is very fulfilling personally to care for individuals in the community and see the difference your care makes.  It is refreshing to be able to spend time with a patient and not have call bells going off in the background or someone popping in and interrupting you.  It is a place where you can truly make a difference. 

Granite VNA has one of the most positive work cultures I’ve ever been in. Everyone is approachable. I have great coworkers. Management is easy to contact and help you resolve challenges when they arise. You can easily see your impact on patients in a positive way. You have the ability to develop relationships with these patients. There is very limited room for advancement or raises beyond yearly reviews. I’m supported when need to take time off. Although it can take several months to accrue time off initially. Great work/life balance.

Drive 35-100 miles a day to see 6-7 people.  Case management limited, approximately 30 people per caseload.  no steady management.  5 directors/supervisors in local area changed in past year.  Multiple lost staff members and difficulties rehiring for nursing staff.  Needed to shut down areas and relocate regions this past year related to nursing shortages.  Multiple disciplines and staff remaining are great people to work with.  High risk job for becoming overwhelmed, injured or burnt out.

A lot of positive changes have happened in the last 4 years of my time here. I wake up everyday excited to work with my team. There were a rocky few years when the pandemic first hit, which was followed by a merger. That was a lot for everyone to go through simultaneously. However, once the merger process ended, the focus shifted to building a new, unified culture. I take a lot of pride in working here and seeing how far we have come, and it makes the company seem smaller and more tight-knit, even though it has expanded. I would recommend working here to anyone!

GVNA allows my passion for patient care & communication to shine. Stationed at Concord Hospital, my day-to-day responsibilities can be summarized in a few simple sentences. 
What would I want if this was my family? How can I help families navigate these often emotionally charged situations? How do we honor the patient and their wishes? If I follow these simple steps, I feel like I’ve done my job.
The best part of all of this is that I have the full support of my manager in this role. I am allowed to manage my time independently which allows me to be responsive to my teammates and the families we serve. 

I’m thankful to have found a job that I feel that I am empowered, am learning something new and am benefiting the community each and every day. I went from working at a corporation that only cared about images and not the people working supporting that image. Granite VNA constantly asks their employees their feedback and makes changes as needed to not only serve the patients and the community but the employees as well.
