Really depends on the type of job you have. Not a CM, but what I've heard from my co-workers is that it's very stressful, very demanding, you're forced to work overtime just so your work gets done (this is not just for case managers), but do you get overtime pay? No. You need permission for overtime, which will be difficult to get every week because you're expected to do all the work in the 40 hours. Except, with the number of clients each person has, it is beyond ridiculous they expect that. I know way too many coworkers who clock out once they hit 40 hours, and then continue to work off the clock so you can get your work done and avoid getting behind. 
I have a relatively better job, but it is still demanding, and I am not making the numbers I'm supposed to be making, and I'm constantly worried that I might get written up or even fired because of it. But considering my OWN mental health, making those numbers is beyond my ability. Oh yeah - that's the other thing. Considering this is a mental health agency, you would think they would care about their own employees' mental health, too. But no. That isn't a thing. They love to say, "we appreciate your work," but that feels plainly disingenuous considering everything. It's all about numbers. The number of clients we see, the number of productive hours we make, etc. They expect us to work like robots. 
But here's the thing. Robots may be more efficient, they may get things done and make you more money, but they still cannot do the job that we do in mental health: they cannot care, they cannot feel empathy, they cannot understand.
Then again, I think, what workplace isn't all about numbers? 
But what makes it gross is that they like to tout they're one of the best workplaces (I SWEAR they're paying to get that top workplace award because I don't know WHO's voting for that). They say there's no place like them, that you won't get the same benefits elsewhere - it's starting to sound manipulative, isn't it? 
Speaking of benefits. They recently switched to an insurance that almost NO ONE (NOT EVEN OUR DOCTORS) KNOW OF, and a majority of us have had to change our healthcare providers because they weren't in the same network. You're forced to either let go of doctors who've known you for YEARS or pay out of pocket- which we all know would be nigh on impossible considering how insanely expensive our healthcare system is. 
I digress. 
I've been here for about a year and a half, and the only thing that's making me stay? The people I work with, and my particular team and supervisor. (Oh yeah, and the 3 years you're required to work so you can keep your 403b match.) Like I said earlier, job satisfaction here is heavily dependent on the kind of supervisor/coworkers you have. There are some bad ones there that still keep their job despite the things they've done, while lower-level employees get fired for less. 
Only thing I keep getting back to is: what workplace isn't? Or maybe I'm just jaded. Maybe there are some good workplaces out there.
What's strange is the argument: "There are worse agencies than us." Which, yes, I'm sure there are. But why is that the bar? 
Here is a suggestion. Why not be better?
I really just meant to write a brief review so I could read what others were saying, but apparently I have a lot of feelings about this. Hope this helped at least someone out there.

GCBHS has a pretty bad reputation in the community with clients for our horrible turnover rate of staff and people falling through the cracks because their caseworker left. Boy are they right. My program is constantly understaffed, and the management expect the people that work there to pick up the slack for their staffing issues. I am constantly working off the clock because no overtime is allowed. They just switched our benefits to a company no one has ever heard of to save themselves money. The pay compared to other places is not great. Managment is a joke and I'm not sure how some of them even became supervisors. No one is held accountable, and the most crooked employees seem to advance. Unfortunately, due to all this the clients suffer. I've been working here over a year and I'm not even sure what my program is supposed to be. They are so worried about getting grant money that they write grant proposals without thinking them out. We have no partners in the recovery rehabilitation community because most of them think we are a joke. This company prides itself on being a "top workplace" for many years, I'm not sure who is voting for that because most of my coworkers feel the same way. This company could do great things. It has a decent foothold in Cincinnati and if run properly could be great....but it seems they just don't have the people in upper management to make it work. All of the chaos leads to the high turnover rate, and it is exhausting. Also, because they are so desperate to put people in opened positions the training is ridiculous. I think I was trained one day before I was thrown out into my position. There is no continuing training besides absolute joke called Relias. They do not offer any CEUs. So not only are we understaffed but the staff we have literally don't know what they are doing because they weren't trained properly. I believe in the idea of the program I work for and it's a shame that it is being run into the ground. IF you do decide to apply just know you have your work cut out for you! I stay for my clients but that is becoming a tedious existence.

I actually would have really fantastic things to say about this company...if they didn't expect their employees to move mountains to meet even the MINIMUM quota. I think their "quotas" made my clients suffer because I was so focused on the numbers I needed to get rather than what they really needed from me. They really need to lower their quotas or be me lax on it. 
They also need to update how they handle paperwork...I took my work home with me every single day and spent at least 2-4 hours on paperwork outside of my normal 8 hour day...my coworkers expressed that they had the same issues. These issues might have been manageable but I was also in graduate school at the time. However, a coworker I know was not in school or working another job, often complained about just wanting to get home to her kids at night without having to take her paperwork with her. NOT NEARLY ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE HOURS. Full time at this company...means probably closer to 55 hours at least...if you want to meet their quotas that is. I worked many late nights and weekends...not forced too, but that was what I had to do to give them what they wanted.
I did have really great times at this job...I was usually in a great mood while at the office and it was a very laid back place to work. I usually enjoyed being there. They had a great policy about team meetings that I thought was helpful and good for the work environment. However, looking back, what stands out is how much stress/anxiety it caused me and how unfair I thought it was. I worked my tail off for a year, and I'm not just saying that...and they always gave me mediocre reviews at best...cause it is all about the stupid numbers with them...not about how happy, healthy, and satisfied my clients were. I know that this has a lot to do with managed care requirements...but they still could have offered more help to their employees. I loved having a private cubicle, but as I left the company I was told that they would be doing away with private cubicles in order to save money and create more space :/ Not ideal for a health care facility that asks clients about their private information often.

GCB was phenomenal when I first started a few years ago. Everyone was supportive, cared about the clients, and were happy to push/help others advance in their career. New management (outside the CEO/board that have been the same for years) have quickly ran the company into the ground. Client care is horrible, enough so that I would not recommend someone seek treatment here, as management only cares about the client in terms of how much money they can make the company. Management has zero policies in place to manage burnout - something that is expected in such a high stress environment. The one time I was dealing with burnout, to the point that I was struggling severely with my own mental health, my supervisor’s response was, “But you’re always so happy!” This response did not make me feel good about the services the supervisors were providing clients - many of whom ask to be discharged immediately upon meeting the supervisors. There is absolutely no guidance from supervisors, they are difficult to reach, and have limited knowledge of mental health. It’s common to hear DBT pushed for every issue as though mental health is a one size fits all - and as though there isn’t research showing DBT can actually be terrible for certain disorders. I also had a supervisor who thought there was no code of ethics in psychology and was supervising for SUD services despite that being far out of their scope of practice. You can’t ever really take time off - you still have to make sure you get 25 hrs productivity even when off, you’re often expected to work 7-8 hrs a day to make that productivity, and you spend way more in gas than they ever compensate for. 

The key point I would emphasize is organization in this role. If you do well in this role, chances are that they will give you more than you can handle. Some of your clientele will run you around to the point of burnout, impacting your personal life, your own mental health, and at some points, your family. GCB sets high, unrealistic quotas for all staff for low pay. I saw many coworkers completing work off the clock because there is simply not enough time in the week to get everything done, unless you have every minute of every day planned. If you prioritize your appointments, documentation and mileage falls behind. If you prioritize the documentation and mileage, then you are likely not to hit the quota. If you work any overtime, the quota increases. Every supervisor is very supportive, coworkers are friendly and helpful, but it does not make up for the amount of work and low pay. Work/life balance is difficult to manage. If you take a day or more off, you are expected to make up that difference. Burnout can often be seen across the employees. I believe there can be more to be done regarding employee safety around certain clients. I have begun to feel very hesitant as they will have young workers go to into someone’s home alone, even when they know there could be safety risks to staff. I have learned a lot, gained some great experience, but realistically, long term position, it is not ideal unless you plan to obtain master’s or some additional degree. A bachelors degree only gets you so far anymore, no room to move up in company without additional schooling.

As with many jobs in the social service and mental health fields, it depends on what you do there.  If you are in HR or upper management you probably will find the company great to work for.  If you are a Care Manager or some other entry level position you may not find this to be a great place to work.  There is high turnover at all levels of the agency; especially at the Care Manager position.  As a Care Manager you are expected to make a certain  number of productivity hours each day; including when you call off sick or take a PTO day.  Keep in mind that you are dealing with a client base that is, to put it kindly, unreliable at best so you are made to constantly make adjustments to your schedule everyday.    Your caseload size will never be no less than 40; making it difficult to give each client that individual attention they need.  Your best source of information from day to day will be your immediate team of coworkers.  Care managers concerns about workload or policies are often treated with disdain and quickly dismissed.  This is a job where you TRULY have to be a jack of all trades; that is, you will be doing just about any and everything. Also you will be expected to complete daily notes on your interactions with the clients; which not a problem only that non work days also count against your ticket turn in time.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Hostile work environment. There is definitely a class system in place and if you are in the lower tier you get treated like garbage. There is no positive reinforcement only negative feedback. Communication is terrible among the managers and staff. Clients are not the top priority; only making money. What they don’t realize is if you treated your employees like they were worth some thing they would produce more, and therefore they would make more money. They definitely go about it all wrong. Turnover at this agency is mind-boggling!! This is so disruptive to the clients   Their reputation is out there and we cannot get applicants to fill the open positions. I would not recommend working at this place. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is a Lack of communication, lack of training, lack of respect. Never knowing what is going on is very stressful. Not knowing if you are going to be phased out at any moment is also stressful. The hostility in the workplace creates an unstable environment, which also creates stress.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile and unprofessional at times. Decisions are made with no regard to how it affects the people doing the work or how it affects clients.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Answering phone calls, scheduling appointments. Taking care of day-to-day needs of others.

I worked for GCBHS for six months before COVID-19 hit and I was placed on furlough. Before that, I was genuinely pleased and impressed with the workplace, I thought that it was a pleasant place to work, with good culture and good benefits. I can see in many ways why this has so many workplace awards! The work was tough but rewarding, and the small moments of victory make all the hard days just a bit more worth it. You do drive your own personal vehicle a lot of the time for work, but frankly I never bought very new or nice cars to begin with, and it didn't particularly bother me. It isn't easy work, and I can see why the turnover is like it is, but its especially not a bad place to work as you gain experience and perhaps work towards a master's.

However, three months into my furlough, I received an email from HR simply asking if I'd received my severance package, and literally nothing else. No call or voicemail from HR, my supervisor, anyone. I was so disappointed that this was the way they thought it was acceptable to fire someone in this way, especially after having me furloughed for three months with no information on if or when I would be allowed to return to work. It's a level of unprofessionalism I never expected from a company I otherwise liked, and its why my review looks like it does. If I had left the company on better terms, I would genuinely have left a better review.

GCB hires awesome supervisors and support staff. Psychiatric providers áre insightful and warm. 
I would still be working for this company had their not been confusion when I was extremely ill and uneventilator and I received a termination letter. The company was fair and had
Served me well throughout the long-term disability process. When I did not return to work they terminated my employment. I was hurt that this happened while I was incapacitated and that they would not speak with my family members. However what the company is all about is privacy privacy for its clients and its employees. Pay is not equal to the amount of work put in two positions unless it has changed since summer 2023. They do offer a supportive environment for growth and education and provide ample supervision for its interns and therapists. I would return there in a heartbeat if it were not a firm belief of mine that one should not go backwards and should always look forward to new doors opening. Good luck if you choose this company, especially as a case manager or other hands-on position. They are who truly keeps this company running. My supervisors on site were some of the most capable and caring individuals I've ever met! 

In my opinion, working here is one of the most significant contributions to our community that someone can give. GCBHS serves the people that the rest of society has deemed unworthy of care. I have never seen GCBHS stray from this mission. Instead I've seen them double down at every opportunity that presents itself. 

But this mission comes at a steep and unpreventable cost: It's hard, hard work that is exacerbated by consistent underfunding by our government.

That said, you will be hard pressed to find a group of people who are more accommodating, supportive, and empathetic than those working at GCBHS if you're willing to look. The amount of effort that everyone puts in to trying to make this world a better place is truly breathtaking.
