What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly and supportive.   GCSD got me my endorsements when other private companies screwed this up.  I got incredible,  in depth training not only in driving,  but student management,  wheelchair hookup and safety and special needs.

Nothing,  really.  Just mind your own business and be mature.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Diverse, supportive, helpful,  friendly,  fun loving  and above all,  tolerant of neurodiverse needs.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Laid back yet busy.  I get almost 8 hours a day and all have time for lunch and gym.  I show up on time, grab my key,  use the restroom and fill my water bottle.  I go out to the bus,  pre trip, wipe down lenses and mirrors if necessary and check over paperwork from the day before.  My monitor gets on and we go.  Simple!, get through with the am, go straight to the Y then lunch (I pack one every day but wegmans is very close) then do my midday, then pm. I'm home in time for dinner at 5!

This is a 10 month working environment. The fleet of buses (200) range in rider capacity of 10-85 passenger. Pay is fair at best, union contract and there is advancement possibilities, for the right candidate. Seniority driven jobs.Typical day at work is drive for run you selected, a.m./ p.m. and if you sign to work in the mid day and get selected. I can be there from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and only work 8 hours or less of paid time. Management is constantly changing to improve safety of all employees and students in the community. Co-workers can be very personable, or unfriendly. Being in the elements is difficult at times in the winter, and summer. Community service and sharing laughs and stories with students of all ages and capacities are the best reward of the job. Seeing students faces light up with a smile is the best award you can receive with meaning.

I worked with a middle school population of over 880 kids, so there was never a lack of drama or variey. I would typically see 60-80 kids in my office per day. I learned to enjoy their ups and downs on a daily basis, and that school nurses are not well respected or appreciated. My office was isolated and few really knew what actually went on in there. However, some co-workers were supportive, but not many.
The hardest part of the job was balancing all the required paperwork, surveys for the state, screenings, medication administration and actual student care. Management had almost no understanding of what the workload entailed or what was being handled in my "private" office.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the kids themselves. I understood the stresses of their age group and they felt free to talk with me about almost anything and frequently did. Some of the kids still call me at home to talk.

I enjoyed working for the company because it was an experience that I haven't had before. teaching students how to play percussion was cool because music used to be my passion. I learned how to be more patient with students and parents who weren't as understanding of what we were trying to accomplish. I enjoyed working with the director, he was amiable and trying his best to provide for the group, although some of the other instructors failed to see that. The hardest part of the job was working with some of the staff because there was a lot of miscommunication and that complicated information that needed to be relayed to the students. The most enjoyable part of the job was the satisfaction of watching the students enjoy their performances and push to become better musicians.

I worked in Greece Central School District at various schools and in various capacities. Overall I enjoyed working with the children and their families. Not all staff and I saw eye to eye on some things, but everything went smoothly. Had some difficulty with decisions that were  made regarding children, but voiced my observations and ideas to management, but sometimes felt in fell on deaf ears, mostly in my earlier positions. As I advanced, I was at least listened to. 

I have experience working with children of special needs, but since I did not have a teaching degree I don't think I was taken seriously.

I worked at Greece Central School District for 4 years, at Athena Middle School. The first 3 years I was a 1:1 aide and was able to learn a lot about the culture working in a school. Then I got my teaching assistant certification so I was able to get paid more and it was a rewarding position. I left the company because I moved, but I would have enjoyed working there for many more years. The administration supports and encourages the employees, and your coworkers are friendly and help create a sense of community. I recommend working for this school district if it's your first full time job, you just graduated high school or college, or want to be a team member and feel fulfilled in your daily work.

My coworkers and the kids I work with because of the behaviors they have.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I feel like I'm working in my high school again. 35 years later. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I go in at 7:15 and the kids don't show up until 8:00 then we do morning meetings we listen to music it just depends on the day what is actually done. And by 11:00 a.m. I go to lunch and I also work with the student at the transportation department cleaning chromebooks. Then I have to go back to the school until it's time for me to leave. That is basically my day Monday through Friday.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I loved teaching the kids, so that was the best thing. Seeing them enthusiastic about learning was the highlight!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Administration. Certain kids are out of control, running the classroom and there are little to no repurcussions for them. Teachers are kept on a leash, overworked and underpaid. Even the quality principals are either leaving or can't do their jobs properly.

Read previous. Stressful. Tense, like you are being watched constantly.

Long, unsupported, stressful, etc

What is the best part of working at the company?
You go in and get your keys and any notes or new students added to your roster, then go out to your bus and get your drive started after your pre-trip inspection.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There’s many “cliques” in the commons room so if you’re a little different from the crowd, they won’t even look your way until your back is turned, they never say hello or good morning and just walk right past you. It’s pretty sad really.

The work environment is toxic at best.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Morning run then afternoon run

At this job I was taught nothing at the beginning and was expected perfection 100% of the time. The work is fine but the pay is terrible. There is absolutely no communication from the bosses to one another or to us. We are expected to know everything as soon as possible without anyone training you in it. When they do get around to training they do the bare minimum then complain when this aren’t perfect. The students are horrible and have only gotten worse over the time I’ve been with the district, the worst part is the students don’t get in trouble for their bad behavior.
