Let me start by saying that GreenSky is a great first step in your career. 

With that being said, there are many areas in which they are having trouble keeping up with growth and long-term sustainability. 

Pros: The sales managers are great and provide excellent feedback, and the environment/co-workers are great. There is high paced sales experience to gain.

Cons: The most aggravating thing about GreenSky is the compensation. Upon interviews (for BDC), they will knowingly lie - to your face - and say that there are reps on the floor making over 6 figures, and that if you hit goal while you are there - you should do the same. Let me be clear when I can definitively say that, as a rep hitting goal, even the best reps were making well below that. HOWEVER, it pays at fair market value for a starting sales role. They should just own up to that to begin with, rather than false promises to keep you around or portray themselves more prestigious than they are. In just about a year of my time at GreenSky the compensation structure changed 3 times... there is a tremendous lack of consistency and transparency. Policy and structure constantly changes as they attempt to align goals interdepartmentally. There is constantly the promise of "great times" in terms of compensation and structure, however the decisions they make clearly do not seek to benefit low-level employees, but rather upper management...

If you are looking for somewhere to gain sales experience and strengthen your resume, GreenSky is a good fit. If you are looking to get out what you put in and see sizable commission checks, then it is not.

I started Greensky in the midst of the pandemic. Although I am grateful for the opportunity this job gets old, FAST! Repeated calls, back to back. No clear guidelines on what you need to hit a bonus. I was told during my interview that one of the perks of working here are 1-hour lunches, this company has completely abused this in regards to our lunches. Most times we only get 30-minute lunches and sometimes even on the weekends your schedule will say 1 hour and then switch to 30 minutes. This job is mentally draining so an hour is literally NEEDED. Management is a joke, my supervisor recently changed, and my newest management never answers my emails/calls. Team meetings get canceled all the time, so there is no goals being set. Not even sure how I am doing with my metrics even though I have emailed my management several times. Lots of gray areas during training so you will be asking a lot of questions at first.  They bribe you with doordash, but we already work from home in front of a computer during quarantine, I do not need to gain extra weight. I need more MONEY!!! I cannot wait to leave this job. It's fine if you are young and the pay is decent but as a career, RUN. Micromanaged. Great insurance benefits tho. 

My experience at GreenSky was disappointing due to poor leadership, constant organizational changes, and a lack of career growth opportunities. While the company operates in an interesting space within fintech, the internal structure and management decisions create a frustrating work environment.

One of the biggest issues is job stability—there have been multiple rounds of layoffs with little transparency, leaving employees feeling uncertain about their future. Leadership frequently shifts priorities, making it difficult to focus on meaningful projects. Communication from upper management is unclear, and decisions often feel rushed without considering employee input.

The work-life balance is also inconsistent. Some teams are overworked, while others lack clear direction, leading to inefficiencies and frustration. Compensation and benefits are mediocre compared to industry standards, and there is little effort to retain talent. Career growth is limited unless you’re in favor with the right people.

Overall, GreenSky struggles with leadership, stability, and employee morale. While there are some talented colleagues, the company’s mismanagement makes it a challenging place to build a long-term career. I would not recommend it unless significant improvements are made.

Things I have noticed as a new hire:
- There are very few flms on weekends. The call volume is the highest on weekends & the main departments you would need to transfer to are closed on Saturday & Sunday. You aren’t trained to de-escalate calls.
- The 1 hr break you are promised to get during the interviews process is a rare treat .
- During the training process, there were quite a few things that were taught to the class that we were immediately told was wrong when we got the into production.
- You are trained to complete verification & take payments, but actually learning how to take calls happens as you go. You will spend the first few weeks feeling as if you have been thrown to the wolves. 
- There needs to be a lot more bilingual agents. There is a translator line but honestly the customer service would be better if callers could speak to an agent who understood them. 

Pros-I have been working at Greensky full-time Pros GreenSky is a fast paced company that you are constantly challenged as an employee. You have a clear line of sight to discuss initiatives and problems with the executive level team. Many other companies do not invite that level on interaction of a daily basis, but GreenSky succeeds because of it. Your contributions are easily seen, regardless of whether you are in sales affecting the bottom line or are a Customer Service Rep with a suggestion. You truly are valued as an employee. Also, you are working for a company that is always striving to help a consumer achieve their America Dream, not make more money. Cons-The fast paced environment can be quite a culture shock if one has come from a more defined atmosphere. If you are looking for your day to day job to be micromanaged and defined even to the most minute detail, this is not the place for you. You must be able to deliver. You must be able to thrive with some ambiguity to your job.

Greensky was overall an enjoyable company to work for. Reasonable training structure and good opportunities to learn about a multitude of fraud prevention tools and systems. 

Management was lacking in good leadership qualities and communication skills. When processes changed, there was often confusion among employees because new information was not relayed in a complete and accurate manner. 

Small work environment consisting of various lines of business; most employees seemed to take their jobs seriously and conducted themselves in a professional manner. Casual dress attire was the norm. 

Shared cubicles environment, and managers sat in the same vicinity as their employees vs sitting in an individual office.

Hardest part of the job: keeping up with the constant process changes due to ineffective communication from management.

Most enjoyable part of the job: learning new concepts about fraud analysis and prevention, and the opportunity to learn and use creative techniques. 

the job flexibility is great! i hardly ever have any issues getting time off and the people who work there are great BUT that's about it. my biggest issue with this company is that they would rather pawn most of the work load off on the people that are "doing good" WITH NO RAISE than get rid of the bad agents and share the work load amongst the entire department to make things easier. and no one seems to be on the same page, its like you get a different answer for the same question. my first year wasn't bad until they trained me in a whole separate department and expected me to take those calls plus all the calls i was taking and didn't offer any sort of raise or upgrade in job title. doesn't seem like they care about their employees as much as they say they do. overall, its not a terrible job if you're a mediocre agent 

I've worked at several companies big and small and GreenSky is by far the worst employer. The company does not care about its employees - your basically just a cog in the wheel and if you don't like it, they'll find another cog. The benefits are atrocious and the office is grimy and disgusting, which is especially strange since the CEO owns the building. You'd think he'd have some pride in his property and his company. Apparently he has a "man cave" in another building so maybe he just doesn't care. The executives are a bunch of mediocre minds who got their jobs because they were buddies with the CEO. They're condescending and treat employees like minions - this attitude flows thru the entire org and people are generally nasty to each other and just trying to save their own behinds. Don't work here if you have self-respect or want to advance your careers.

Started out fine, quickly went down hill after management decided to give anyone a loan. If you’re collections, your only options are to hope people starting paying you, or find a new job. You can only switch departments if you are making quota, but very few ever do. Starting off on second shift, calling customers when they’re trying to have dinner with they’re families doesn’t help. If you don’t make quota for long enough you’ll be fired. Very high turnover rate, and with good reason. The company has an unofficial motto that “the only thing consistent here is change,” but most of the time, the change is for the worst. It seems every new policy is made to impede how you can do your job.
