This job started out promising, but I soon realized that despite appearances, that the company culture doesn't match the noble mission.  Nepotism and unethical practices run rampant across multiple teams.  The People Team in uninterested in employee concerns, abuses by management, and feedback.  The annual surveys are not taken seriously by the Reimbursement Team and the management did not share the results, likely because they reflect poorly on them.  We are here to help people with cancer and that is why most of us are staying, but many of us feel worked to death and are considering leaving.  Management should be aware of this fact, but they act oblivious.  This company could be great if they would only ask employees what it is like to work in their departments.  I mean the higher ups need to really listen to us, because our direct supervisors and manager will not.  Defeated, disgusted and saddened.

The company is innovative in its concept  of treating cancer. However, they lack the talent in middle management to achieve the goal without destroying the moral and spirit of their employees. The place has experienced exponential growth in short period of time. Growth is good only when your management can maintain the same competency and guidance as it did in the inception of the company. To my dismay, their growth far exceeds the professionalism, insight, effectiveness  and overall skill level competency of their middlemen management, rendering the  company in a very toxic and counter productive environment. . I strongly urge you to look elsewhere for employment or you will be devoured by the cesspool that this company has sadly and tragically become. Please look elsewhere if you have a modicum of integrity or self respect as you will find very little there. I wish you well in your endeavors.  Peace out

For most the mission of Guardant Health is great, but in reality the workload, expectations, and work load is not what you expect with such a great mission. There is no work life balance and even if you get time off, you will come back to double the work and also expect to assist others with also meeting unrealistic goals. There is really no support and also management is only concerned about numbers and do not appreciate the work you do as long as you are being a robot. There are so many changes that did not make senses and did not really make a huge diffrence in getting your job done, al ot of confusion. If you are reading this, please consider this role as I will let you know you will not be happy with the role and expectations. Regardless of the pay does not add up with having a work life balance. There is high turn around at this company and you will be micromanaged. 

This company used to be the perfect workplace. You would learn a lot and have a good work-life balance. They were very employee-focused before and the culture was so fun but still efficient at getting things done. Now, with so many budget cuts, the company is becoming more micromanage-y without offering employees decent raises anymore due to the budget. They are cutting expenses wherever possible and had layoffs, so who knows about job security at this company anymore. They expect you to do extra projects and come up with ideas for these yourself which are beyond your job responsibilities. What is expected of you is not communicated clearly. The workplace is very political and higher ups choose favorites. Middle management is a mess here, and they escalate problems unnecessarily instead of diffusing them when they can.

Poor job stability but good compensation. During my time here, I have seen hard working individuals leave GH due to poor management, lack of acknowledgment, and overt favoritism. Individuals who lack leadership experience are promoted to management roles. The lab's AM shift staff completely changed in 2 years time. Employees quit or transferred to other departments because the lab was poorly managed. The staff was overworked. Shift supervisors decided to stay at their desks instead of working the bench despite pleas from overworked staff. Upper management was abundantly aware of the pain points for employee turnover but chose to trust middle managers who lacked teamwork and leadership skills. Unfortunately those middle managers were promoted while most of the AM laboratory staff have either quit or transferred to other departments. 

I worked a little over two years in this lab. My initial pay was below market for my years of experience. After a year, I received a sizeable increase to bring me up to market rate. The next year my raise was negligible and I saw the way business is done here. This place does not pay according to performance. It pays to keep the playing field even. You can give 10% effort or 110% effort and you will be paid similarly. The benefits are also weak. The 3 year and 5 year sabbatical benefits are scams because they are essentially one-time bonuses that hold you hostage or you end up paying it back to the company. I loved working with my peers. The top management was not the best, tbh. I'll just leave it at that... 

Worked at GH for > 3 years. In that timeframe it has been exciting to see the company grow from pre-IPO startup to maturing company. The founders are always motivated to launch new diagnostic products in line with the mission. This also also meant that work life balance might be challenging to achieve at times, at the same time there is lot of flexibility and opportunity to grow. I have not seen a company launch thee many products while striving to maintain the top position in the market. On personnel side they have been investing heavily for both sr and middle management to grow and support all functions.

Interviewing with this company for three different positions over the course of three years and being denied every single time has been extremely stressful. Being overqualified was not enough. Having over 10 years of experience was not enough. My interviews went phenomenal until I received an automated email stating that another candidate was chosen. This is beyond disappointing, especially when you have someone that is continuously coming back that shows dedication to the company.
I truly planned on retiring with this company moving up and adding to success but clearly I wasn’t good enough 3 times. 
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

Guardant applies cutting edge sequencing and bioinformatics to identify genetic alterations influential in development of cancer tumors.  The company moves fast but is dedicated to the integrity of the product.  It is very exciting to work with such a highly mission-driven organization.  Because it is a start-up, you have to be ok with where the company is on its organizational maturity trajectory.

Wonderful company specializing in cancer genetics research and development. They specifically did blood tests that would  otherwise require surgery in the past. They offered to pay for college classes etc. Might have changed as old boss is no longer employed with the company. They have continued to grow and their offices are very nice. Free lunch included daily. 

Awesome company with very intelligent people all around you. Doctors and scientists that know how to have a laugh!
