Working here has been both rewarding and frustrating. I’ve gained valuable experience, but the role often comes with high expectations and little direct support. I frequently find myself fixing issues that could have been prevented with better training or oversight, and it constantly feels like upper management doesn’t fully understand the challenges we face, or doesn't care.

The job provides a lot of autonomy, which I appreciate, but it also means dealing with problems alone more often than not. While I enjoy working with some of my colleagues, the overall workload can feel overwhelming, and recognition for the effort put in is lacking. Due to this, morale is low for seasoned and new staff, which makes for a high turnover rate.

Raises were previously around 3-4% under our prior company, but ever since Sanitas took over, we were skipped a raise one year and only received a 1% increase the next. To make matters worse, they significantly increased insurance costs, meaning the small raise doesn’t even cover the extra expenses. It feels discouraging to work hard with little financial incentive or acknowledgment.

Another major issue is how patient volume and acuity are handled. When the team feels overwhelmed with a high number of patients or critical emergencies, our medical director has given us the directive that our desire to get out of work on time does not take precedence over patient care. While patient care is, of course, important, this stance creates a serious problem because when we have critical patients, it becomes an all-hands-on-deck situation—especially since we’ve been short-staffed! This results in other high-acuity patients being left in the lobby with potential medical emergencies, simply because we don’t have enough staff to handle them. This creates a major patient safety risk that could be avoided with better staffing and support.

This company is great for someone who thrives on problem-solving and independence, but it can be draining without better structure, support, and fair compensation. Additionally, the lack of staffing and leadership’s approach to high-acuity situations make it difficult to provide the level of care patients deserve.

When I first started, it was a good job with a supportive team and a positive work environment. However, over time, things took a drastic turn for the worse. As patient volume increased, staffing levels decreased, and turnover became a constant issue. Morale was at an all-time low, and it became clear that management had no intention of addressing these issues.

Compensation was a major concern. Not only were we not fairly compensated for the increasing volume of work, but the company also eliminated shift incentives just as the workload grew significantly. To make matters worse, they offered no opportunities for growth or career advancement. Requests for growth were consistently denied, and the company continued to make staffing and overtime cuts without any effort to provide support or improve conditions for employees.

Employee requests for help were largely ignored, and management rarely took accountability for the issues at hand. Instead of addressing problems head-on, management would avoid confrontation and hope that things would improve on their own. Policies were inconsistently enforced, and mistakes became increasingly common, adding to the stress of the job.

In summary, while this job started with potential, the lack of fair compensation, opportunities for growth, and the overall decline in work conditions made it impossible to stay. I would not recommend working here unless significant changes are made in management, compensation, and employee support.

The facilities vary based on location, and some clinics have a better rapport and work well together. Under the right management the environment can be very welcoming and fun for employees. Having worked in an urgent care previously I was not surprised by the amount of patients that check in late. Many reviews cite that you will be working late- totally true- BUT not every day. While incredibly annoying, I wasn’t surprised and even expected it. The company is growing and changing at a rapid rate and communication can be lacking. The management structure is wild- but each clinic has a Facility Director serving as the direct report for the entire location. Some locations have really amazing Directors! 
My personal experience with advancement opportunities has been poor. This was one of my biggest motivations for taking this job and I have not been successful. At this point, I see no more options for advancement and will likely seek other opportunities to further my career. 
The model the company follows is amazing. The services they can offer the community are outstanding. This can be a great place to work and beats the hospital environment!

This company offers no benefits, they can only give you a very small percentage of your salary to use for insurance and 401k. The insurance is very expensive for a family, the amount you get as a benefit won't cover it. Be mentally prepared to never leave on time so forget making plans after work, you have to wait until the last patient leaves the building to go home. Employees are drained, constantly gossiping even in front of patients and the atmosphere is very negative. Some employees are friendly but the lack of leadership, direction and accountability hurts the clinic. Management doesn't know what they are doing setting a horrible example as they tolerate tardiness, absentee without excuses and attitude problems. The leader of the facility doesn't do anything is more like a puppet lacking authority and avoiding every single situation.

I have been employed by Guidewell for about 9 months. I am grateful for the team, management, and how much I have learned. As someone who is used to working in a busy hospital ER, I appreciate being able to take the time to clean up my skills as a nurse and build a relationship with the patients. Even days where we were seeing 70-80 patients, I did not feel stressed because of the support I received. I do not feel anxiety about coming to work everyday and have made great friendships with the other staff. Management is great and always maintains open communication. 

The only thing that is difficult is when patients walk in right before closing times staff ends up having to stay late and cancel plans with family/friends. Staff should either be staffed until either a half hour or an hour after closing or the cut off time for higher acuity patients should be a half hour before closing time. 

I would highly recommend working for this company. 

Guidewell, as a newer company in West Central Florida, has plenty of opportunities for employees and it will likely only improve from here. The management is extremely approachable and considerate while  a competent and dedicated employee is eagerly welcomed. It's also quite refreshing to work in a healthcare setting that is truly patient-centered where everyone is on the same page regarding patient care- that is being pleasant, thorough and efficient with superior patient outcomes at the end of their visit.

The days can be long but the atmosphere is wonderful.  Truly a team environment with caring and well-organized management. Opportunities for growth, promotions, and constructive feedback.  

Not a good place if you're lazy and like to sit a lot - this place is about taking care of patients and preventing hospitalizations. 
 If you're not truly passionate about patient care, this is not the place for you.  

Definitely a great learning environment for a future nurse, PA, or manager.  The staff becomes a second family.  

Can be difficult for those with children if an admission keeps you past closing.  However, the company is also really good about recognizing when family/home life needs to take priority.  

Since day 1 of working at this company, I have been a believer in their mission to provide patient-centered care.

Bedside care; relatively fast treatment and discharge of patients with complaints that would typically result in an ER visit and potential admission



What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The staff is one solid clique, including management, and they are lazy, rude and will stop at nothing to make you miserable if you're not accepted

When you arrive you'll feel relief or dread depending on which long term staff members are present.

Yes, you will learn everything you need to work in the field.... but training time completely a mess and those who are with you side by side converge into your worst enemies without knowledge. The job is good but can leads into disaster if the training is not properly set. Most of the time the FTO's are overwhelmed because the amount of  job on hand and the frustration and anger is charged against you without their knowledge. Sad to see a good place with this problem and good employees getting out of the process just like me. 

I have been in the healthcare field since 2013 and I can humbly say I LOVE MY JOB! The people working beside me is what makes it work! EVERYONE at North Tampa Emergency Docs is great to work with! I have been here since opening and the family-like attitude everyone brings is what sets us apart from anyone else, I plan on retiring from this company to put it simple; Simply because of the motto we bring to this field for our patients and people I have gotten to know and work with.
