You work 60 hours per week minimum so the money is great for a short period  of time. Until you get just as good if not better at your job than anyone else and you still make $3 less than the national average. 

Exceeding exspectations and demonstrating initiative is not rewarded. So theres 0 incentive to work harder than the bare minimum, you developed an "I get paid by the hour" mentality. Management is literally horrible, but I could never tell if it was because they didnt actually have any power to make things better or if they were just too lazy to. The owner has multiple businesses is never around. At the end of the day maybe we were all in the same sinking ship.

All anyone cares about is how long you've been there. So unless you've been there for 3 years you wont get paid what you deserve. You could be an absolute rockstar and produce double if not triple the amount of production as anyone else, and no one who has the authority to pay you more money will ever care. But they'll start to expect more out of you now that you've raised the bar.

That's why the turnover rate is 75%. No one wants to work there because the hours suck and the conditions are pretty bad. (Water all over the floor, exposed wiring, ect.) And even if you can make it past that for the garunteed overtime anyone intelligent enough to do their job well doesnt stick around because they know they're being taken advantage of. 99% of the work ends up being done by 1% of the people that work there. The majority of the people who stick around are the ones who stand around and do nothing. 

 At most, only work there long enough to get job experience, and then apply somewhere else.

Gulf Cable is one of the few jobs ive had where it had decent pay, but stressful hours. I didn't mind working 12 hour shifts but working 12 hour shifts every 7-10 days, with one 45 minute lunch break. The crew members I had were pretty hard working crew members, but the management was a little bit shaky. granted they are all about safty of their employees, but only to insure that they will not get sued. Ive had a few grievances about the work area I was working in about getting fans for the workers. we worked next to an extruding machine which got up to 350 - 400 degrees. but other than the heat and the long hours, ive learned how to create the jacket on a cable for wind turbines and solar panals. the hardest part of the day would have been surviving the 12+ hours.

My day to day life at Gulf Cable is okay for the most part, but can be stressful if I allow it to be. I've learned a lot from Gulf Cable most important is becoming an operator and taking on that responsibility. The management is alright as long as you work hard and don't cause them any production problems or confusion so no messing up is allowed. The culture at Gulf Cable is extremely diverse. The hardest part of the job is making it through the entire 12 hours, because it leaves no time for family working sun up to sun down. The most enjoyable part of my job is having the finances to provide for my family and to learn.

You get lots of overtime,you will work rain or shine

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management is terrible and most of the employees don't speak English and are just plain illiterate.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Reminded me  of a correctional facility and sweat shop.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Your just there to make a paycheck, the place sucks.

Work there for 4 years and no room to move up because they hire friends for management positions. All they care about is pushing cable out. They don't treat there employees fairly. Favoritism is bad. If you don't come in on days off they get mad. Shouldn't have stayed there ad long as I did. This is an unsafe place to work. There are Hazard everywhere you walk. They put duck tape on everything. Bare wires hanging out of machines everywhere. 

Very bad management and very unsafe situations. Have seen people hurt and have seen people fired for nothing more then managers entertainment.  Hours leave No time to rest or have a life. Days off are not given due to shortage of employees. Shortage of employees due to bad management and horrible work environment and hours

Lots of hours so good money but it all turns out to be lots of miserable hours slaving away in this plant where they don’t care if you cut your finger off but will fire you if you smoke a cigarette after you busted your butt for years and made the company tons of money but not once were you ever appreciated at all so screw this place seriously. Don’t work here anybody this place will ruin you life. 

Gulf cable is an awful company to work for! Management is garbage. They say one thing one day and then try to go back on their word the next day and call you a liar! Very few actual qualified people work there because of the high turn over rate. They have people that have barely been there 2 weeks running whole lines by themselves. Very unprofessional. They’ll work you for everything you got and then get rid of you like you’re nothing.

The poor management and leadership in this company made it a difficult place to work. Very disorganized and no effort was ever made to fix it. The constructive advice given was always ignored. Always expected to to finish projects ahead of a schedule without the proper equipment, tools, and crew to do so. This provided for a very unsafe work environment. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

The bosses push you to the extreme, the expect you to pull unrealistic hours like a 12 hour shift, go home for 2 hours and come back for 12 more! My friend died here in front of other employees due to the bosses not caring about safety and pushing thier employees to hard. I would never recommend working for them.
