You will interview and most often the manager who interviews you will try to talk up the job and any questions that you may have they will most often give you the answer that you want to hear, but once you start they most certainly hardly ever follow through with the things they promised you in your interview. 
They are one of the worst companies I have ever worked for who does not care nor understand a work/life balance. They only care that you are at work earlier than what your original required work schedule was that you were originally told and you most often will work late every single day and never get praised for any extra work that you do or if you go the extra mile for a patient, it is hardly ever recognized. Harbin Clinic is a huge privately owned practice with many different specialties that you can choose to work for. The two different offices that I worked for at Harbin were both very similar when it comes to the cons.

I worked at Harbin Clinic back in 2007 until 2016 and loved everything about my job, although I did work a lot of nights, holidays and weekends, I did enjoy my 3 12hr shifts each week. Management has changed so much in the last 5 to 6 years and it has truly put extra unnecessary stress on the employees in my opinion and what I have also gathered from other fellow employees. The pay also is not what most medical offices pay. I took an almost 3 dollar an hour cut in pay when rejoining this company but was told that I would be given a pay raise after my 90 day review. After speaking with my office manager I learned that Harbin only does annual evaluations and the most a typical hard working employee gets a 30 cent raise every year which does not add up very fast. 
They truly talk themselves up to seem like they care during you're initial interviews, but you will quickly learn how that is thrown out the window once you are hired on and begin working your Monday- Friday 8-5 shift with no time off allowed until after your 90 days or it is highly frowned upon so I would not recommend this company if you have a family and small children who you have to worry about getting sick or something unexpected coming up which any manager should understand as long as it doesn't happen too frequently.  
Also your job description is not fully explained to you when you start and if the person whom you took their position has left and someone else trains you who did not work in that position doesn't know exactly what all the job duties entail and you don't truly find out until you don't do something that the provider expects of you or you do something that you were told to do, but it was wrong,  then you get all the blame put on yourself. Always double check with your manager if you feel like you are supposed to be doing something more or something different that what a regular staff member tells you to do because they are only out for their best interest and not yours. If you get it cleared from your manager then she/he will typically take up for you if you make a mistake when you are only there one or almost two weeks and the provider expects you to know exactly how to do every single thing right that is expected of you in your position which will not ever happen until you have been there a month or two and know exactly how everything flows with that particular office as every medical office is different. You will most definitely get taken advantage of if you lack the ability of taking up for yourself and remind them what you were told in your interview and hiring process. I was told my hours would be 8-4 and most nights I wasn't able to leave until 6:00. If you love overtime, then this is the place for you. 

A typical day was rewarding with patient care atmosphere. From the beginning in 1986, the Clinic was one entity and you knew every face when passing them in the hall...(those were the good ole days). As technology took off,  the Clinic and doctor's had no choice but to move forward or get left behind. To sum it today, the Clinic now covers 5 counties with multiple entities. 
Co-workers in the beginning were family but today it's not that way, some days you wouldn't even see staff that work on the opposite halls. It hasn't always been that way and honestly, the good ole days were better in the area of co-workers. Today, the newer staff and younger generation have a different mindset than the few originals left. Too many narcissist in people today when it comes to job security, some will do anything to bring negativity on you if they don't like you. 
The hardest part of the job in my career was yearly Performance Reviews. They were redundant and not motivating for managers like myself. The most enjoyable and rewarding has to be the patient satisfaction. That's the focus and mission statement, if you walk the talk the rewards are endless to know you made a difference in someone's life.

Harbin Clinic overall is Northwest Georgia's largest privately owned clinic. When I went to work for them in 2002 I was young, vigorous and excited. I wanted to work my way to the top but I was never given a fair chance. I was good at what I did and passionate about patients so I figured it would make me successful there but it did not. It was suggested that to move up I needed a Bachelor's degree in something. It didn't really matter what. In 2014 I finished that and tried to move up. NOTHING. I was denied for more than 3 years and never got a promotion. (Don't forget I knew leadership and they knew me. They were always cordial but definitely not encouraging.) I moved around in my department but nothing further. I was a clinical patient rep, medical billing clerk, clinical patient rep, surgical coordinator, and then done. I knew I had potential and so did others. People would ask why I stay and I only said because of my patients.
Crazy thing is that I saw a young woman come in to the department work 6 months (possibly 7) and then move to admin. She didn't have a degree and everyone knew this. Her only qualification was being the girlfriend to someone in the rank's son/nephew/grandson. I'm not saying don't work there I'm just advising to have a plan if you do.  Let's also make a note that by the time I left in 2017 I wasn't making $14 (only if you rounded it up). 

Working at hospitals, you never knew what kind of patient load you would have on any given day. All nurses worked together as a team to distribute ourselves to ensure patient safety and even the workload. We had a continuing education class at most monthly meetings addressing a topic we chose.  We learned from each other as evry nurse had a different background.  I was the senior nurse at the time I moved to Tennessee from Georgia.  My manager tried to accommodate us if we needed time off and I liked the fact that we could switch work days with each other as long as our shift was covered.  The hardest part of the day came with new admissions and having to go to other hospitals as care demanded after a long day already. I did not mind taking call at all.  Our Nephrologist tried to only call us in extreme emergency and did not call us for a chronic patient if they just didn't go to their clinic that day unless emergent dialysis was needed.  I enjoyed working for Harbin Clinic and would still be there had my husband not transferred with his job to Tennessee.

A typical day would be very busy with patients coming in for labs to be drawn early. It was very busy before lunch. 
I learned how to read drug screens, run flu test and urinalysis.
Management was very good. They make sure everything is running smoothly and that you have what you need in the lab.
I like the fact that everyone wears the same color of scrubs on the same days. Everyone tries to help each other when possible. Some try to get someone else to do their work but it all works out when they are told they will have to do their job.
The hardest part of the job was having to do blood draws on someone that is dehydrated. We let the patients know they can have water the morning before they are getting labs drawn. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was to hear a patient say I didn't even feel the needle go in my arm and some would say are you finished when I would start to wrap their arm after the blood draw. Working in the Armuchee facility was a great experience for me the people was great to work with.

Typical day: opened the clinic and made sure everything was ready for the Dr. And the MA before patients arrived. 

What I learned: almost everyone is lazy and complained daily about the work load they had. Some of the Doctor's have no business being in practice there. They give the clinic a bad name. 

Management: They do not care about their employees. They turn a blind eye to what is really going on in the office's. They make promises they don't keep. They have no back bones nor do they have their hardworking employees back. There is no such thing as a chain of command. HR doesn't go by the handbook and the company ends up paying unemployment for wrongfully firing the employees. 

Work place and culture: very versatile 

Hardest part of the Job: checking in/out patient's as the phone is ringing and the doctor is needing something all at once. You learn how to multi-task real quick. 

Most enjoyable part of the job: the relationships you form with the patient's. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Working for a company that is to be concerned with people's health and wellness. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
That their slogan of "We care completely" is not true when it relates to their patients and their dedicated, longevity employees.  They would prefer to have employees with issues and no plans to make a career because they are unwilling to work with and pay appropriate wages for those with longevity. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
According to department but there is definitely an environment of some supervisors having favorites that can do no wrong regardless of mistreatment of fellow employees or patients. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A busy day but I prefer it that way as time goes quickly.  Main concern should be patient's needs are listened to and addressed adequately.

Overall I would say that this is a decent place to work. They're great about hiring people straight out of school so that's a plus if you don't have experience. 

There are a lot of free lunches and other little goodies (candy, shirts, etc.) that are given on a regular basis. You also get tons of vacation and sick time. 

Most of the coworkers in my department are great about doing their jobs and getting along well. Most have a great sense of personal accountability. 

On the con side the pay is low. Even the raises are low. After 1 year I was only given a 25 cent raise which quite frankly was insulting. 

Also I wish they would help their employees with furthering their education like many hospitals do. 

There is a lot of turn over. In the year and a half I've been here we've had 3 managers. One of which had no idea what she was doing.

A typical day in corporate IT is a relatively quiet office environment with a few meetings.  However, the ever-present gossip channels create cliques, stir drama and HR questions unrelated things outside of work.  Harbin is also physician owned and all physicians have a say in process change, software adaptations, etc.... yet the 100+ physicians on the board NEVER unanimously agree, which means the things that need to happen never do.  Spokes in every wheel turned, and the red tape prevents effective problem solving and process changes where needed.  This can be frustrating, de-motivating, and it trickles down to affect both employees and patients.  

this job was very repetitive, restrictive, & I was overqualified for the position. I was employed as a floater, which meant I worked in several areas of the imaging center: patient liason, x-ray digitizer, check-in, scheduling,faxing, filing, etc. they had excellent management, in which I felt very welcomed, & appreciated. the hardest part of the job was having to deal with the gossip amongst employees, and also one a system was learned I was either transferred to a different area, or the program had changed all together. the most enjoyable part of the job was to be able to asist those in need, making their experience at Habin Clinic very comfortable. Also, I really loved working as a patient consultant. This part of the job was very intersting, I was constantly busy, and multitasking.
