A typical day at work:
A typical day at work is like having 3 patients on the ventilators, 1 patient on BiPAP,  4 patients on nebulizer treatments, 8 patients on nasal cannula and Pulse Oximeter,  5 EKG patients, and at least 2 to 3 STAT ABG
I learn to prioritize and to think fast on my feet.
When I am done with my workload, before my next round, I check with co-workers to see if anybody needs some help.
The hardest part of the job is when I have to deal with one or two Code Blue in one day.
The most enjoyable part of the job for me is when a patient is taken off the Vent or when we save a patient in cardiac arrest.
At typical day at work looks like this: 8 patients with range of motion, 5 patients to walk, and 4 patients to help feed.
I learned to be patient with elderly residents and to encourage them when they are cooperating and making progress.
Always team with another co-worker when it comes to walking an unstable patient.
The hardest part of the job is to walk or exercise with an angry resident.
The most enjoyable part of the job is to have the daughter or spouse around when exercising with the resident. They encourage the resident, and the resident is happy to show them that he or she can do it.
A Typical day at work is like having 9 EKG scheduled on the Floor, 4 Outpatients EKG, 2 EKG patients from Same Day Surgery. 
After the EKG strips is taken, I transmit them to Cerner for Doctors to read them. I also replenish all floors with respiratory supplies valued at an excess of $200,000.
I learn to be fast and to prioritize.
The hardest part of the job is when you have two or three EKG Stat orders coming on together. You have to let the nurse know how soon you will be there.
The most enjoyable part of the job is when you don't have too much STAT.

When I was hired, it started out fairly decent. In January, however, there was a change in upper management and things changed for the worse.

Before, I didn't worry so much about calls, but after the change, I got a fair share of customers that were irate, demanding, and/or we didn't understand each other well. I didn't get help for those in time, and one even demanded to speak to management and I just couldn't handle the pressure. Training doesn't cover certain things not to do that could get you written up, as well. I was on my final warning when I decided to resign, giving a one month notice. The lack of timely help cemented my decision to leave. Several other coworkers left too and I don't blame them. At the very least, most of my coworkers were friendly and I made connections.

The scheduling was also not great. As a "PRN" which I never got out of no matter how hard I worked, my schedule options were limited. In hindsight, maybe taking 4 day 10 hour shifts made things worse, but that just begs the question as to why IT technicians even NEED the PRN status in the first place. HCA's reputation as a whole has been tanking too if you keep up with the news.

go into work ,staff meeting  get  the amount of patients with the descriptions of what they needed to get done, walk to rooms and present you're self as the new clinical arriving in the evening state 
you're name and years with the company . and proceed to next patient . till you finish and the start with  vitals  temp pressure redeposited the patient ask if they need any thing . let them know it they need anything we are there for their recovery, to call the nurse or you in the as com write on the board all information of manager on staff nurse for medication and clinical for anything else , place the door bell next to them and TV control and before you go let them now you will be rounding in one hour. if any low or high temps advise the nurse that moment and the conditions you see the patient.i manage my time as critical that my patients are . the hardest part of the job is when , I have a C  M O patient and they expire and you have been caring for them for a while.the most enjoyable is when they go home with family members and you which them well.

This is by far the most recklessly run hospital I have ever worked in in my 16 years of experience. The pharmacy is dirty and disorganized, there are literally boxes and trash all over the floor. Because of the hospital’s bad reputation it is impossible to hire good help, at this point it is obvious they are just filling positions with anyone they can find. No experience necessary. The culture is all about underachieving and how to get away with doing less work. This applies to everybody, including supervisors. Pharmacy staff and management is so inept that they constantly fail inspections. Nurses on staff are overworked and shown no regards for the patient’s health. It is not at all uncommon for medicine to forget to be given or for patients to only be changed once a day. This place is dangerous and absolutely irresponsible. Avoid at all costs.

Management is the worst I have ever worked with, they do not care about anything, they have lost countless talented pharmacists because of the way they perform their daily operations. They never listen to employees and are extremely sneaky and stubborn when following their directives. The clinical pharmacist is the least prepared  pharmacist I have known in my career, she is clueless when it comes to clinical knowledge and does not accept any suggestion from anybody, much less from another pharmacist. They are all afraid of losing their jobs because they have been placed there by mistake and not based on their skills and experience. It is a shame that the management team is formed of pharmacists, which are usually very compassionate by definition; these individuals are extremely unscrupulous and simply do not care.

On Sick, Holiday & personal PTO.  HCA gives an accrued number of days per hours worked and status of job position (FT or PT). 6 Holidays are included in this total.  Employees request ahead of time for the Time off using their bank of PTO.  As with any hospital, PTO approved depends on staffing and how many others have asked for that same day.  Leaving the department for an emergency is most always acceptable; most directors will allow without question, although an explanation is expected. Hospitals are busy and covid has altered the course of operations.  HCA overall works toward the greater good of best patient care given.  The employees are expected to embrace the mission: Above all else we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

If you are not hispanic it will take longer for your coworkers to open up and connect with you. A lot of the positions they have nurses doing, it can be done by non-clinal professionals. The ER team is constantly burnt out and stressed out! They need additional staff and resources to make their job manageable. The OR/Surgery department has a great team but is lacking the support from administration in order to hire additional staff that is desperately needed. But the pay has to increase in order to retain the clinical staff overall. 

There is a lack of promotion from within. There's no room for advancement for non-clinical professionals. They should consider adding associate administrators and/or operation managers for administrative duties in each department.

As a ICU Nurse in a busy Open Heart unit ,  I was a fulltime RN and a valued member of the open heart healthcare team. I received patients that were immediately Post Open Heart Surgery. I recovered the patients from anesthesia and cardiopulmonary bypass,I maintained hemodynamic stability, and weaned them from the ventilator all under the orders of the Open Heart Surgeon.My managers were considerate, efficient team leaders. My co-workers gave all their effort, and their care to the patients, and the families. The hardest part of my jobs was the having to learn Spanish , which I did quite easily. The best part of my job was being a member of a diverse multicultural health care team that was compassionate and highly skilled

Many opportunities exist for nurses and positions always available. It is a fantastic hospital to learn and gain new skills. Cowrokers in ICU, Step Down and Emergency are fun and you make life long bonds. You will really learn what it means to be part of a team in some units of the hospital. Now the bad, it is not the best pay but better than some other South Florida Hospitals. The hospital often has shortages of supplies and understaffed. They say are trying to change but many long term employees say it never happens. Managers and supervisros are mostly positives for nurses  but are constrained by the shortcomings of the hospital.
