I recently was interviewed for a PCT position in the Emergency Department, and while I made sure to ask plenty of questions, the interview felt rushed. The nurse leader used a term I had never even heard before, and her energy came off as insincere. After the interview, I learned that the PCT and EMT roles had been combined into one position, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere before. The responsibilities listed on the website seemed manageable, but during the interview, they told me it would involve "much more"—yet none of this extra work was in the job description. It was only AFTER the interview that I received a full outline of the combined responsibilities, and it was way more than expected. I find this unfair; how can they expect applicants to understand the actual scope of the job if it’s not accurately described? For any beginner looking to gain experience in this hospital, I’d advise looking in other departments unless you’re confident you can handle it. Personally, It was very disorganized. It just doesn’t add up. I was willing to give it a chance, even after reading reviews from former employees who said “they were underpaid, workload is unfair, hospital is constantly understaffed, and management could care less about the staff” but no I’m good. The workload does not match the compensation provided.

I accomplished advancing my Pharmacy tech skills. Daily operations at this job included: Cleaning the Pharmacy work area before & after shift; compounding IV solutions & delivering them to their designated units; filling prescription medications & delivering them to their designated units; restocking & loading automated dispensing machines (Pyxis); answering telephone calls and assisting hospital staff; completing medication requests; compounding medications; prepackaging unit dose medications from bulk bottle; and restocking emergency medical carts (Crash carts, hemorrhage carts; intubation kits, etc.); and checking & signing ALL Pharmacy-related refrigerators' logs.
I learned more Pharmacy skills at this job such as, compounding Chemo IV medications and monthly IV room cleaning using USP <797> policies, procedures & regulation..

Too much micromanaging. Too often there wasn’t supplies to work through the shift. Simple items such as bed sheets and gowns would run out half way through the shift. IV supplies were always low especially on the weekends. Management only cared about maintaining the numbers to get good praises from top management even if it meant staff did not get to take a break to eat up until an hour before their shift ended. The ED was extremely understaffed and they had you doing nurses work too which wasn’t so much of a problem as you gained knowledge experience, but if you tell them that you’re not able to do the nurses task they will write you up for it. The pay was also low at $13.88 as a Tech doing tasks as a transporter, paramedic and nurse. 

The only great thing was the majority staff that helped and looked out for each other. Apart from that the higher bosses need to revamp management, hire more staff, raise the pay and ensure supplies are there in abundance.

My biggest problem at my current job is the high nurse patient ratio:  for Telemetry 7:1. I believe that overwhelmed nurses are not able to provide the care that the patients deserve. The poor management support results in high staff turnover. In addition the benefits are progressively declining while the work related stress is increasing. 
The best part of my job is making a difference for my patients and working with committed and dependable professionals. I enjoy my co-workers. The rigid and demanding work environment has created a trustworthy and reliable team that supports and helps everyone in need.

charge nurses day shift labor and delivery were not supportive and helping to new employees and often gave assignments which were dependent on assigned based on clique/friendship and unfair to nurses that were not included in their group esentially hazing new employees and not providing appropriate orientation and ongoing support breaks/lunch was not scheduled and coverage for same not available however, threat of penalty if not clocked out for 30 minutes even if it was during last hour of shift

Working here means constantly feeling on edge. The culture often feels punitive rather than supportive, with clear favoritism from management. Employees who fall out of favor can face disproportionate scrutiny and reprimands that, at times, seem inappropriate and unprofessional.

The coworkers are genuinely wonderful and are one of the few consistently positive aspects of the job. Unfortunately, staffing ratios are often treated as suggestions rather than limits, with assignments frequently reaching as high as 7:1. Additionally, staff are regularly contacted outside of work regarding workplace issues, adding unnecessary stress to an already demanding profession.

This job has drained me tremendously. I’m currently working on the 6th floor and the staffing is enough to drive someone crazy. They are always understaffed and those who are hired see them working condition and quit immediately. There needs to be a total transformation on this floor in order for the staff and patient care to thrive. Management doesn’t care about the nurses nor do they care about the patients. We go up to a maximum of 8 patients and I won’t be surprised if they give you another 1 to total 9 at once. As a patient I would stay away from this place

Colleagues. Good nursing, and social work staff.

The physicians in charge of the patient changed very often; so difficult to track. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff came from various backgrounds, various countries. So, everybody spoke their own brand of English

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
After getting my list of the patients I had to see, would go to different floors to see patients

the most enjoyable part of the job is to be able to acquire different valuable experiences such as patient care, interaction with physicians and supportive personnel

I loved working there but when Covid started they treated us like animals. Nurse to patient ratios in the icu were often 1:4 or even higher and everyone was underpaid.
Most of the doctors there are excellent. I enjoyed working alongside my fellow unit peeps.
They offer great benefits but you are underpaid. It's an HCA hospital and I know that I won't work for HCA anymore unless things change (which I don't think is gonna stop)
