HCA Florida Trinity Hospital

Despite consistent (5 yrs) above avg job assessments, my director & mgr engaged in threatening 'private mtgs' to intimidate me.  Shortly following my forced resignation, the director was escorted from the building (MCT) by security & HR. The mgr was later demoted back to Surg tech. Both of my former coworkers were sent to other HCA facilities. 
Previously, I had two separate supervisors who enabled me to learn a great deal re: medical operations & supply management.  Both of whom I enjoyed productive and professional relationships aimed at my growth as a above avg worker. 
Most difficult part of job: not being recognized by my team (2 coworkers+ mgr & director) for my work and recently learning via staff in OR  that my co-workers were directed by mgr to exclude me and 'not be nice to me/exclude me from team'. 
Obviously, this was a painful experience, particularly bc I really enjoyed my position and did not want to resign.  Worse was the overt collusion by HR.

People are so easily led! They see the main hospital and its beautiful lobby and think this means something. Take a walk to the ER and see how psychiatric patients are treated: three to a room, no bathroom, 5-12 hour wait and mediocre medical treatment provided by nurses who graduated nursing school a week ago. Check out the behavioral health facility: filthy, leaking, roach infested. This company pays its employees poorly, understaffing is rampant and patient care comes last after profits and appearances. Software and equipment are often antiquated, supplies for patients are meager and doctors and nurses agree that patient care is sacrificed to satisfaction scores and the bottom line. It’s not a bad place to work as long as you don’t care too much.

MCT is a FOR PROFIT hospital and it is evident. Their ONLY concern is profit with total disregard for patient wellbeing and employee satisfaction. BH employees are under paid and over worked. Therapists are not treated fairly or compensated fairly. RNs with a two year certification are paid at a much higher rate than therapists with Masters degree or higher. Psych certification is the biggest joke of all in nursing. They take a single exam (which HCA pays for) then receive a sizable pay raise once they pass. Therapists must pay for their own board exams and clinical supervision (for two years post grad) but receive NO compensation upon licensure. 

I worked a staff position at this hospital. Started in the ER and then was part of the BH intake team. The management and staff in this hospital are not very pleasant. Management ploys staff against each other. Keeping staff uncertain of thier position security. I saw many co-workers fired at the drop of a hat, on hearsay. I was forced to deal with aggressive co-workers and management. It was a hostile work environment. If you don't believe me, work there and you will see in a short time. Trinity is a portrait of a dysfunctional work environment.

In my nearly four years at Trinity, I learned a lot of things, mainly new diets, consideration for patients' rights and privacy policies.  
A typical day was full of deadlines, prepping, cooking and reviewing duties for the following day.
Management and co-workers communicated and worked together well and we were informed of new procedures in a timely manner.
The most difficult part of the job was getting the bacon cooked!
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with my partner and preparing good, hot food every day.

Trinity is in the community that I live, and it was the first place I wanted to work when I decided to go to nursing school. 
The team work aspect and common goals of the staff is a plus.

My manager is in the top 3 of all the managers I have ever work for. She is responsive to the needs of the nurses, and promotes education and upward mobility.

The hardest part is being understaffed, I feel I am not as effective as I could be. 

The most enjoyable is meeting my patients needs, exceeding expectations and a simple thank you from my patients.

Floor nursing in general can be overwhelming but on this floor there is a great group of nurses that come together to assist each other through the nights that were tougher than usual.  Management was great in accommodating my schedule while I was attending school.  Loved self scheduling.

The culture is always changing. Big revolving door with management. My unit had three directors and four managers in the three years I was there. Coworkers are amazing, what kept the unit running and going. Sometimes room for advancement, sometimes went to others with less experience though. Management often quits for promotions and doesn't try to make unit better. Money driven. 

I would have loved to continue my job unfortunately due to Covid 19 my doctor suggested I take time off and work part time or prn once pandemic controlled. My supervisor/manager at Trinity was wonderful. Unfortunatelly the supervisor/manager under Health Trust was not as good or as easy to work with. I do not think HCA made the best decision when VAT was put under Health Trust.

When I worked there I was a CNA/PCT. We were always short staffed and managements had favorites as far as people who would get easy jobs. Be prepared for them to blow up your phone on days off. Different floors have 'Cliques' if you dont fall into their clique be prepared to be lonely, however, I can say with behavioral issues from patients staff does not mess around. Its a job, and it may work out for you it may not just about what your able to handle really.
