I enjoy working here because the people are friendly for the most part and everyone knows each other. Cafeteria food is decent and they have a cuban coffee vendor in the main lobby. You feel safe parking in the garage and there is always plenty of employee parking. Overall it’s a clean and nice looking facility.  

The cons are staffing and often poor patient/nursing ratios. Mgmt often says they try to properly staff but one wonders if they try hard enough or if there are metrics for how often the units are sufficiently staffed.    ER dept not only does NOT give report but will dump a patient on the unit and leave without notification. Mgmt also expects NURSES to transport patients almost everywhere. They definitely should hire more full time transportation staff so small female nurses don’t have to haul their patients to and from dialysis and cath lab as well as transfers from one unit to the other. It’s extremely time consuming to routinely expect this and takes away from the professionalism of the nursing profession, not too mention is physically taxing and a huge risk for work related injury.  The phone system is terrible. They use iPhones for intrahospital communication very often no one picks up at the dept you are calling or the info for the doctor or dept you are trying to call is inaccurate, needs overhaul.  Secretaries should be placed in the Lab and special procedures dept like Imaging so that a person answers when you call which 9/10 times they don’t.

On a typical work day I am constantly engaged in my nursing duties with the assistance of my patients, staff, physicians and family members. Part of my nursing duties to help maintain a patient’s physical and psychosocial health as prescribed or according to client facility policy, procedures and/or protocols. I truly enjoy being a nurse and I have learnt a great deal about responsibility, reliability, respect, delegation, prioritization and accountability. the most enjoyable part of work is when i sit down with each patient to get to know them as a person apart from their illnesses or disabilities. I love conversing with my patients and making them smile. The hardest part of my job is watching a patient die. When you have formed a bond with someone, it is truly hard to see them go especially when you have no control over the situation. My co workers is what makes the environment a great place to work. We all work great together as a team to help manage the flow of the unit and with this our managers are very appreciative. Nursing is truly a wonderful and rewarding career and I am happy I chose this field.

This is horrible, everybody on the floor has an attitude management is completely clueless or just they know exactly what’s going on but they can’t fix it so it’s either you join them or you can’t. HCA has made me understand that I cannot do bedside nursing. This has been a terrible experience. I’ve learned. Trust me I’ve learned a lot patient care and stuff like that but every single preceptor that I’ve had except for one has given me a problem now they are setting me up with another one my life is upside down because I have to follow another person‘s schedule. The PCA‘s don’t wanna help with any form of patient cleaning. I’m so tired of complaining to my managers. I just want my orientation to be over to see if I can even do this on my own. I’m so frustrated. I have to look for another job. And when you seek help, you only get patronized and you can clearly see that you have people that’s messing with you. It’s exhausting and not to mention they want you to continually do health stream while you should be on the floor, practicing clinical skills, unrealistic, unprofessional, and just downright wrong.

My responsibility is to use the scanner to capture diagnostic images ordered by a physician to help the patient. Monitor the patient safety and comfort,explain MRI procedures,and position patient on examining table. I enter into the computer data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned orientation specified and position entry.I also have to scan outpatients and emergencies patients, it is very important that all patients do not contain any metal within their bodies because the scanner is a big magnet.It is not recommended for a person with a pacemaker to have an MRI, because the strong magnetic field may cause the device to malfunction. it is extremely important to properly screen the patient to be sure that he or she can safely undergo the exam.The worst part of the job is sometimes people are too sick or injured that they can't remain still for the exam. The best part of the job is all the thank you and the great feeling from being able to help people.I truly feel by the end of a work day, that I contributed to society.

Having achieved my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and Organizational Management has allowed me to explore the many different trends within the industry today. I have over 20 years in the RCM industry, most recently in the pediatric field. I am well versed in many specialties with an emphasis in the billing, coding and collection arena. Great opportunity for growth. Efforts to achieve promotion will not go unnoticed. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The culture is hostile. The CEO is open to suggestions. Ever since the CFO left, the morale has gone downhill. The leadership is absent and holds no one accountable. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hostile and backbiting.  Unsafe culture.  The staff are unable to safely express their concerns. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There's a lot of tension.  A day is full of putting out fires, dodging unkind behaviors, and reaffirming purposeful movements.

A typical day starts with organizing priorities, which includes reviewing patient information for utilization of resources, and participating in  daily interdisciplinary meetings. We interact and collaborate with physicians, vendors, patients and  their families to assist with safe, and appropriate discharge dispositions. We are always learning new technology, and new job skills. I find that we all come together for common goals. The hardest part of my job is to trying to getting it all done within 8 hours. I enjoy when we are successful  in aiding patients to improve, and get to their next level of care.

When being cancelled on your schedule and this reduce your income. Shortage of staff that they would not allow you to take leave even you filed 4 months before leave date

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Diversed environment. Fellow workers were good. Supplies are sufficient. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hard day always. But oftentimes we do help each other.

The imaging department has poor leadership and little regard for staff well-being. Employees are underpaid, overworked, and undervalued. Students completing clinical rotations here often choose not to return after witnessing the environment. Policies are applied inconsistently, with favoritism shown to leadership while staff are penalized. The overall focus is on patient volume rather than image quality, professional growth, or appreciation of employees. Turnover is extremely high in CT, Ultrasound, and Echo, creating instability and further strain on staff.
