HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital

I worked as a MA/Phlebotomist.I was the only MA in sub specialty .The culture is horrible at this hospital .I would have to draw 30 tubes of blood on patients all by myself and work them up after .If you clock in one min late the  hospital will take 15 mins of your time unpaid .After two you will get written up even if you were late due to traffic .It is very hard to get an off day timeoff must be submitted  4 weeks in advance.You get infractions for everything .No room for emergencies of sick days here .The NP/DRS are very rude  and moody and their is also a high turnover rate !!! The worst MA job of my entire life !!!!!They do not value anyone but NURSES & whatever the DR.says goes 

I was a charge nurse for many years.The start of my shift who be the night charge nurse reports to me.I also round and check the patients and introduce myself.I make sure the patients going to surgery are ready as per the surgical requirement.I supervise other staff members.I communicate with all members of the team and attend daily meetings.I also communicate with the management team.I am organize and need to work in an orderly controlled environment.I have excellent communication skills with the doctors and they would rely on me for any of their patients needs.I learn something new everday.I am sharp with my assessment skills and note any changes in patient condition and act accordingly.I enjoy nursing and looked forward to going to work.I was also part of the care plan meetings.I was a team leader and always offered my support to other staff members.I also educated them as needed.

Working here as an RN is very disheartening to people who put their patients and patient care first. Patients are not the priority - squeezing the most out of the clinical staff with the least investment in staff support and safety is the reality here. Patient safety is also Low on the priority scale. The culture is problematic with a lot of clinical staff being “checked out” while on shift. Cafeteria is pretty good with discounts for staff. There is a friendly vibe at the hospital, which really is lovely. But that friendliness, especially from administration, does not translate into concern for your safety while on the job.  

It can be a great place to work, but the people are what makes a place. At Woodmont Outpatient, most of the workers are not helpful or mindful of how to help make a place effective for the patients or for the team. They only communicate when they want and not very helpful for others. Not a very team oriented place to work at times, again, communication is not the best at all. It's either "not my job" or "someone else will do it". No real teamwork unless a supervisor gets involved and then its "I'll help" but only for a day or so. Such a letdown. Again don't expect much, maybe in time it will get better. 

A typical day at work is usually chaotic in the midst of metric driven goals and timelines.  My day consists of review data from admissions through nursing practice metrics (restraints, baker acts, bed assignments, discharge process, advanced clinicals compliance, to covering nursing supervision, bed placement, or covering the CNO.  The hardest part of my job is just keeping ahead of the data to find trends.  That is also the most enjoyable part of the day. The team is amazing and it is a joy to be part of this team.

typical work day is always challenging, you are distributed in many 
pieces and you got to protect your license. Some departments ask you to take a much greater workload that you are not supposed to.  Since they cant say no or else you will be written up.  Culture is strange and questionable.  Management only look and promote their favorite workers, others are just a number. There is little relationship between some managers and staff.

I have been with NW for a few years and it's ok to work there. Your sense of purpose and job fulfillment depends on you managers/supervisors and those you work with. Working at a hospital is a team effort and the efforts of others can definately make or break you. So it all comes down to how you handle stress difficult coworkers and just difficult people overall. However if you prove you are worth it people will definitely help when you need it.

You will be the secretary, the doctor, the nurse, the technician, the phlebotomist, the transport. You will get a miserable 30 minutes break that is not enough to walk down to the cafeteria. You will have zero chance to offer patient care because the tasks never stop. Manager is supportive. Every nurse is out for themselves. Little to zero interdisciplinary teamwork. 

I always felt, HCA as a company is a caring and great company to work for. I  would gladly go back and work for HCA at anytime.The workplace culture and the caring and wanting to do the right thing for the patient and the staff was always a property.Great place to work! The hardest part of my job was all the calls from the patients at the same time, but I always triaged my patients and it worked out. The most enjoyable part of my job are the patients. They make the high stress, high demand job worth it.

Clocked in 15 mins before time,gather and clean  my equipment for 
the day. Get assignment. Take bedside report. Prioritize work according to patient needs. report to my co workers RN what is going on with my patients. We all work  together as a team to make our job more easier and manageable. The hardest part of my job is the moving of beds and other furniture to room patients according to their 
diagnosis. The most enjoyable part of my job is when i carry out an intervention that makes the patient better.
