Case management at HWS has changed a lot over the past year. The owner is kind and cares about her company. Communication is poor due to therapists and case managers being independent contractors. Upper management outside of the case management team is not responsive to concerns and does not utilize feedback provided. You will be offered a full time position and never work full time as they do not have the clientele to support it. You must maintain your own liability insurance and also insure the company on it. Supervisors will only offer limited feedback in supervision because “you are a contractor I cannot tell you what to do.” While many therapists here are great to work with, their knowledge of case management services can be limited, treatment plans are not written consistently, and many are non responsive with updates which can result in not being paid for services rendered. If you do not have experience tracking and meeting productivity do not apply here. It is an extremely flexible position with many amazing clients. If you are good at rapport building and are comfortable with the lack of stability and support, it may be a good fit for you. You are 100% not micromanaged here. Documentation must be completed within 2 days and is only paid if you do it in session. You don’t get paid for anything you do outside of supervision each week (up to 1 hour), time spent with clients, and treatment collaboration or resource coordination.

Working as a counselor at HWS Best Health Counseling has been an incredibly meaningful and fulfilling experience so far. From day one, I have felt supported not only as a professional, but as a person. Let me tell you a bit about my experience thus far as an LPC here - I have only been working here for a little over 3 months, and I have never felt so supported, validated, and empowered. I think there is a large level of burnout in this profession sometimes, especially depending on where you work. I am overjoyed to feel energized and rejuvenated after every encounter with my coworkers, supervisors, and administrators. This also ensures that I can perform my best as a counselor, as well. I also love the flexibility and freedom this job comes with. And I love the difference I know I’m making in the lives of others because of all these positives! The flexibility and support has also given me the time to think about future steps I want to take in life, so I applied for a PhD program with no doubts I will have all the support in the world from HWS! If you begin services here as a client or ever consider working with us, you are guaranteed to be in good hands. I wish I could give it more stars!

HWS seemed like a great opportunity to make money but you only get paid by appointments and can bill for time spent on SOME tasks that you help case management clients with. This job is difficult to bill for, without management frequently having a new conversation about what can no longer be billed. Veteran workers are leaving or unsatisfied because they can’t make a consistent income from this job alone. It is a great second job to have but do not quit your job thinking you can actually maintain previous financial obligations the same. This job has no actual insurance benefits and you would need to pay for your own professional insurance so they aren’t liable for any mistakes. Absolutely impossible to get consistent billing opportunities in the summer time when most staff in this company struggle. 

I worked at HWS for about a year, and I can confidently say it was an incredible rewarding experience. From the moment I joined, I felt welcomed and supported by a team of compassionate professionals who are truly dedicated to improving mental health care.

Working at HWS has been a fulfilling experience, knowing that our work makes a meaningful difference in people's lives. The company's mission aligns perfectly with my passion for mental health, and I am proud to have been part of such a dedicated and impactful organization.

I’ve been with HWS for more than a year now. I make my own schedule and get to have input on how big my caseload is. There is no productivity requirement which causes me to feel less stressed than I have in similar positions. I’m community based which means I see clients at home, at school, in the office, and over telehealth. I love the flexibility of how I am able to meet with clients. I’ve added to my clinical skills since being with this company thanks to the supervision and training they provide. I was able to advance in my position with the company quickly and I feel valued by the management team. This is the most supportive working environment I’ve been in. I really enjoy working with the schools and clients I meet with. I’d recommend working here to anyone who is good at time management and creating their own schedule. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have worked for other agencies in the past and communication and support from upper management has been terrible.  HWS seems to prioritize their employees and show how much they appreciate them frequently.  I have not had the experience of working for a place who is so communicative in the past and it really shows in the morale of the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
being a therapist and working with children and families

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
the culture is very supportive and friendly.  Support is easy to access and always welcoming. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
as a 1099 I control my schedule.  I determine which kids I am going to see and work with and complete paperwork related.  Sometimes, there is a meeting.
