1. Respiratory Therapists are required to be on call.. this means if anyone calls in sick, you have to go in to cover their shift. The call-back pay is only $5/hr. Not worth it.  
2. Not a great team playing environment on nightshift. Dayshift is great however.   
3. They do not self schedule like most respiratory therapy departments. You submit your requests off but you are not guaranteed days that you want to work.  
4. Management is not great. They do not ask for feedback on what they could improve on. When they are given information on issues, they simply say “I don’t think there’s much I can do about that”. And they wonder why there is such a high turnover rate on nightshift. 
5. Unfair work assignments. Charge therapists are allowed to pick and choose what assignments they hand out to the therapists. There are a handful that pick the easiest assignments and do not offer to help their fellow coworkers when they are busy.  
6. Low paying compared to surrounding hospitals. Even with the raises Hamilton has given recently, the respiratory therapists still make significantly less than others.  
7. It’s a cultish/click department on dayshift. Several have Bible study at work in the department. Not appropriate for the workplace. If you have any other beliefs than the majority there, you are almost looked down on. They are definitely not diverse. 
8. It’s so bad that 4 therapists have left recently. Don’t waste your time.

Dedication to your craft is a must have, it's the key to your success. Team Work as well as Knowledge and Understanding of the job at hand. Complete and Proper training is a must. Without these you may fail.
Job security is high on everyones list these days and I suppose always will be.
A typical work day was straight in to quality control patient charts for accurancy so as to have their documents as legal as possible. Along with calls from other healthcare providers in the area calling or faxing request for patient charts to be sent to their facilities for proper patient care.
I learned alot about the medical field from a non clinical viewpoint and it was I have to say very inlightening.
My coworkers were very in assisting as needed or had a sink or swim mentallity.
I'd have to say the hardest part of the job was the stress when multiple employees were absent and it was up to you to do so many peoples jobs you either had'nt ever done or had'nt done very often it was a test.
Most enjoyable was I loved learning the clinical side of the medical field and the different systems they use which at first were very foreign to me but, adaptable. And the people I meet where amazing.
Managemement had their ups and downs but, they are covered up and carry all the heavy lifting so to speak so very forgiving of them.

Working as a nurse at this hospital was like stepping into a toxic soap opera, complete with absent management, cliquey drama, and a soul-crushing environment that made me dread every shift. Let me paint you a picture of this chaotic mess.
From day one, the management was practically a ghost—nowhere to be seen unless there was a crisis to dodge or a scapegoat to pin it on. Need support? Forget it. Our unit manager was either “in a meeting” (code for hiding in their office) or conveniently on vacation during the worst staffing shortages. Policies changed on a whim, communicated through cryptic emails or not at all, leaving us to fend for ourselves in a sea of confusion. 
Then there were the cliques—oh, the cliques! The hospital was a high school cafeteria disguised as a healthcare facility. If you weren’t part of the “in” crowd (a tight-knit group of veteran nurses who acted like they owned the floor), good luck getting help or even a kind word. These cliques hoarded the best assignments, cherry-picked the easiest patients, and left the rest of us drowning in overflow. I once overheard them planning a potluck in the break room while I was running between a code blue and a bedpan emergency—because, sure, let’s prioritize lasagna over patient care. New nurses were either hazed into submission or iced out entirely. 

Work-life balance
The hours are long. Usually without lunch break. And if the nurse on the next shift is late or doesn’t show you can not just leave. You have to stay or else you will lose your license for abandonment.

Pay & benefits
Insurance was outrageous. The CNAs all were given raises and making $1 less than me. An lpn for 12 years

Management
Management lacks compassion for the staff and patients. Expectations were very unrealistic. They never offered help when we were drowning. Even if the patients were suffering for it. Unless there was a family member or state evaluation. Other than that you were on your own.

Overall
I left because I had patients who needed extra care and was told because the patient was homeless before then they can deal with what they have because it was better than what they had “under the bridge “. This was a veteran. And they allow a drug addict who brings drugs into the facility to stay free. I was unable to advocate. And I witnessed a family member order the doctor to make med changes that were clearly detrimental to the patients health. But because they had family in the higher ups they granted her wishes and caused more health issues. The patients always were given special treatment if  the families were VIP and that was totally against my morals and ethics and I could not be a part of this.

We are 3 months into a new computer system. Our jobs have become more time consuming. I have worked for in the business office for almost 8 years and I like the job itself.I really like to do many different things and I like to learn. I started as a phone rep and have advanced (in job only-not pay) to floater. I help any co-worker I can and I have earned the trust of my manager to take on many new responsibilities.This is a honor for me to earn trust and do a great job.The hardest part of my job is to have several people need me at the same time.  The thing I would dislike most is the fact that I am not eligible for promotion due to college education. I CAN and do learn A LOT.I even help others that make more pay than I do.I do not like the fact that my employer starts new employees out making more pay than I do with less responsibilities than I have. I think that almost 8 years experience and commitment should count for something.  The most enjoyable part of my job would be all the different job duties. All of my immediate co-workers are really nice.However,some could use more team work.I think everyone should pitch in to keep the office running well and the patient's taken care of.

A typical day at work consisted of a lot of computer entry but also included interaction with physicians, nurses, other departments, patients, and visitors.  This provided a lot of variety in each day.  I learned over the years to cope with change and to deal with a variety of people.  My co-workers worked together to make sure everything was done in a timely manner and helped each other to make the job as easy as possible during stressful or extremely busy periods.  I worked with my department manager for most of my 19 years at Hamilton and I would have to say I have never including my military service time had a better boss.  The hardest part of this job was leaving everyone including management that I had worked with for 19 years.  Family obligations making it necessary for me to relocate are the only reason I left.  The most enjoyable part of my job was working with the many talented people at Hamilton Medical Center.

I was a volunteer but I enjoyed volunteering very much. It taught me a lot about life that I otherwise would not have learned. I worked with some very good people. Very few Teenagers worked here during the time that I did. I couldn't stay any longer because high school started getting very stressful. I loved working there though and the ladies and I felt like family after volunteering there for 2 years. I won't ever forget this expierence with the group I had. They are amazing and changed my life for the better. If I had a choice I would definetly go back. I have even though about it a few times but I am trying to focus on getting a full time job to support my family. Hopefully I will get back into this when I get older. I know I sure did enjoy working with all different kinds of people that walked in those doors. I enjoyed taking people things and being kind and knowing that my smile would brighten up someone's day. I'll never forget those people or the joy or working there. Thanks Team!

Working the weekend shift as a new RN was challenging to say the least. I had to learn and grow very quickly in order to keep up and manage the needs of my patients. I am grateful for all the experiences I had at Hamilton including the septic patient who began crashing at 7:45 AM who's life a nurse practitioner and I barely saved, the Christmas shift we worked short staffed because of snow and had 4 codes, the patient with Coumadin toxicity who "had to go to the bathroom" as I was removing a femoral arterial cath which ruptured when he stood up, as well as many more memorable and day-to-day learning experiences. I made plenty of mistakes, but I learned from them very quickly. I grew up rapidly as a nurse in this environment and I am immensely grateful for the experience!

Quinton Memorial has recently undergone some managerial changes for the better! It is expected that all staff work smarter not harder for the betterment of the residents. Management is available to assist any and all needs of staff and residents. The facility as a whole provides many opportunities for resident activities and outings and allows for flexible schedules for staff. Families frequently report being pleased with the care their loved ones are receiving. The rehab department works well with all residents and staff to promote healing and independence with reduced risks for injury and illness for all residents. Quinton is a great place to work and if needed, I would happily let the staff there take care of my loved one.

It's decent,but no promotion. The ideal duration to build a successful record without experiencing the drawbacks of job stagnation is often three to five years in a position without a promotion. Of course, that depends on the position you have, your level, and the company you work for. You cannot allow your performance or career to suffer if you are informed that you won't be promoted. You must instead take action. If we take action, things will only get better in the future. Your initial reaction following a setback like this might be to hunt for a new employment. If you were promised the promotion or if you didn't get it for reasons you absolutely cannot change, sending out resumes might be in order. Despite the fact that the causes are rarely obvious, "you might be open to new opportunities,"
