What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with such great people and it was a great experience also and most of all learning as you work and having a boss who made you laugh and get along with and the team you work with and supervisor made you feel like working with family I really enjoyed working there with them it was a blessing to work with wonderful people all around if I had a chance to work back there again I would love too work there again because I really miss working with those wonderful people...

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the heat in there and long period of standing in one place but it was worth it not complaining bout it...

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was not to bad and at times wasn't easy and you will learn alot while doing the work and the people when your in need of help someone else will help step in to help you as you do them work as a Team and the teams becomes a great team to work together..

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Like any other day doing hard work and keeping it positive and get along with the others and there be some days a Line breaks down and when it does we go to another line to help out until the line back up and running again those are most a typical days bout everyday we do what we can is the best of doing it...

I look at some of these reviews and the overall sounds like a good place to work. And It is. Some have had different experiences than I had. I started in the maintenance department with not a lot of experience . I can tell you that there is opportunity to be promoted and get raises. I was promoted to lead, then to supervisor and more. I think most with good work ethic will do Great at Harlan. I have left Harlan for business and personal reasons. But actually will miss the work, environment , and upper management. There are stressful situations as with any place you work. The last year or so so we're better than the prior years. The maintenance Department had really progressed and frozen product lines down time, had declined 71% with some of the new equipment and changes that were made. And I believe they are now upgrading all other areas,  this will make for even a better place to work.   They had and have a good Maintenance Department. They have many good people at Harlan Bakeries.

No work life balance. They treat workers like non humans. Management does not know what they are doing. They only promote people that will please whatever they need including lying. There is no team value. They make empty promises. I've watched a few people do lead responsibility for almost  a year and never get the actual pay they deserve. Supervisors use scare tactics with the employees.  Majority of people do not speak english, communication here is non existing. They play the blame game because they don't know what accountability is. Their attendance policy is trash. Work conditions are not safe. They hire inexperience people and expect them to know what they are doing within a few days. There is no respect in this establishment. They have training videos that majority of employees don't understand. The bathrooms always smell like sewage.  

A typical work day At Harlan Bakery consist of driving an standup forklift or reach truck, in a cold freezer which the temp ranges from -15 to -25 filling orders.  I learned from this job is to use it for what it is some jobs are just that a job.  this is a place where someone should not be looking for an career.  There is no room for advancement, this company has no kind of structure nor do they believe in seniority.  they coworker are all nice people to work with but being a very diverse place of employment communication becomes an issue sometimes.

I leaned a lot at Harlan. I was able to run certain departments such as the Rework department whose goal was to prevent waste.  I was promoted to Administrative Assistant for the second shift.  My responsibilities included handling questions, time keeping (kRONOS), uniform management for both second shifts. And several other production office duties required such as the production end of shift reports. I enjoyed this job because the variety of positions I was exposed to. I was also able to be team leader, supervising  6 people in the dough room.  I

Work-life balance at Harlan Bakeries is not very good six days work week and 1 day off constantly asking for you to come in early to help other shifts..

In general, managers at Harlan Bakeries friendly and respect their employees

Payroll and HR directors don't care about the employees. If you never have to visit with them you will be okay. A lot of different languages are spoken with English being the primary. Company provides uniforms but it comes out of your first 4 checks. Harlan is not on a bus line and they pick and choose who they will hire based on your background. There is no clear line in the sand in backgrounds and whats okay. The owner is old and a crab but management is great. They do things for their employees throughout the year. Would recommend this place to friends and family.

Learned how to supervise work and ensure the quality of the production. reported daily to supervisors and managers to let them know of any issues or praises that need to be addressed to make things better within the company. Co-workers were always willing to help out or give advice on how to complete a task. The hardest part was juggling all of the tasks at once because of some of the hectic days, but they would get done. the most enjoyable part of the job was learning from peers with similar backgrounds.

What they tell you in your interview is totally different than  how they run the plant. Very disorganized  almost 90% of those in leader positions  are not able to speak english to be able to train you properly so they just throw you in the position the other senior workers  dont want to do. If your not tickle a manager or supervisors fancy then they will treat you like your invisible  no room for advancement  no raises and if they give you one then you have to wait almonst 6 months to a year to recieve it.  Theres a lot of favoritism  and a lot of cliques ... Worst place ever

some supervisors have preferences with their team leader and not let you have a better position to put the skills we have and the team leader take an hour lunchy supervisors know and say nothing and also force you to go on weekends even if your line does not have to work and if you are not the supervisor gives you a advertenciay is not just because you got family and so you can not share with family
