I typically start my day by driving to wherever I am scheduled to go, I perform whatever task is on the plan of care, and I always make sure that I leave every last patient knowing that they are comfortable, happy, and well taken care of.

I have learned about all kinds of personalities, and how care plans can be very different on an individual basis.

The management is fantastic, I have never been so satisfied with how I have been treated and respected here. They never give constructive criticism without pointing out the stronger, and more positive points. It is a great balance of professional, realistic, and friendly. Same thing for the co-workers. It is really a single person, individual job, so you don't get to see your co-workers that often. Despite the idea that you don't get to know your co-workers that well, it is also a good thing because the chances of tension or disagreements are very low considering how individual the job is. I am alone most of the time, and I generally only see my co-workers once a month. Everyone is very friendly, and it is a safe environment.

The hardest part of the job would be that the driving can be fairly lengthy. Luckily, your schedule is very flexible, but there is an occasional call for an hour-long drive. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is the appreciation you can recieve from your patients. They're usually very grateful because you can pay special attention to them, and give them the time that they need and deserve. It's very concentrated, and you can take full advantage of giving the best care possible.

I believe from the very beginning that my supervisor had some sort of an issue with me. She always treated me differently than my co-workers. I felt completely targeted and was let go for a very ridiculous reason. I was let go in front of multiple people, which should have been done in private with dignity, which I had none of. I had multiple people watch me pack my things, and also hold the door open for me on my way out. I was looking for another job shortly before I was let go, maybe they found out about it, who knows? I would never recommend applying to Harmony to anyone. At least not the intake coordinator position, where a certain someone is your immediate supervisor. She does not handle conflict well at all, and when it comes to conversation, just always expect her not to look you in the eye. Which in my mind is very disrespectful. She is not a leader by any means, and should not be in the position that she is in. When it comes to the general work of an intake coordinator, it’s very fast paced and you better learn quick. Rotating on call schedule over the weekends also, which makes you feel like you’re always working. Horrible work/life balance, and when you put in extra time and effort, don’t ever expect a thank you because your work is never valued.

I have worked for this company for over 7 years, during that time I have seen people come and people go. Those who go are aligned with a different mindset than what is prevalent at Harmony. This company has developed a diverse, inclusive, organizational culture. As employees we know what our job entails--the upper management lets us do our jobs! Because we are allowed the freedom to not be micromanaged--productivity as well as loyalty remains high. We can get a lot done in a very short amount of time. Management is also very good at listening to the employees, they are hands on, and involved (without micro managing), and they truly care about each and every employee and patient!  At any given point in time anyone can contact or walk into the CEO, CFO, COO, owners, or managers office and chat with them--no appointment needed!

You can often tell how good a company is by how much you hear laughter in the office. Multiple times daily there is laughter, happiness, and a real sense of belonging. We are a work family--this is the type of work environment and organizational culture employees claim they want, but cannot find. I LOOK FORWARD every day for the opportunity I have to go to work.  I do not "have" to go to work...I GET to go to work! 

As a former employee I was honored to be part of something greater than myself.  I was impressed at the care that was and currently is provided among their patients.  However, due to the lack of transparency and failure to provide vision to their employees, Harmony has lost a lot of wonderful people.  My typical work day was to visit accounts and drum up referrals for the company.  The hardest part of working there was the fact that there was so much confusion as to who ran what.  The larger the company got the more confusion and strife.  Friends became enemies as people were trying to keep their position to be relevant to the ever changing atmosphere.  It was no longer about the care, it became more about the almighty dollar.  Granted this happens everywhere, the lack of recognition, the failure to differentiate, and the general overall culture just became too much for me to handle.  The nurses are wonderful and I would have Harmony nurses take care of anyone I know, but it is the leadership or the lack thereof that made my decision to leave.

I enjoyed working with my clients ,team members an office staff they are very professional an a caring team I enjoyed seeing the happy faces on my clients when I arrived to work letting me know how much they appreciated me and my services an I enjoyed going to work to assist them with all their care of need of me making me fell even happier with kind word before ,during an after my shifts and the best experiences was when I learned more about each client every day an was able to teach them how to do their best an I’m here to help you with the rest I learned a lot about different clients and their needs from hands on to companionship I really love what I do as an CNA an care giver to all an anyone in need of I care help I will do my best an if I couldn’t I’ll direct them to someone whom can help them an me as well by learning something different about them and being able to help them understand that it’s going to be ok so when I go home I can rest well for the next working day know that I did my job well to the best of my ability 

I feel very supported by the management in Harmony! There have been several situations where my case manager backed me up, such as making mileage reimbursement accommodations and defending me when clients were difficult to work with. Very impressed!

As far as the company itself, there are some less perfect things. Only 5 days of sick/vacation combined per year, low mileage reimbursement rates, and poor communication about charting expectations. 

The hours are fantastic for school nurses! You need no nursing experience to get a position, and you don't work weekends or holidays. Plus it's so much lower stress than hospital or SNF nursing. Basically your day goes: Drive to the patient's house and help them get ready for school. Ride the bus with them to school. Attend school with them, staying out of the way unless there are medical needs. Ride the bus home and give brief report to parents. Minimal charting involved... I know right?!!

Overall good experience with this company.

I work nights. A typical night goes something like this; receive report from family or other nurse, review MD orders, assess patient, provide treatments as ordered, administer medications as ordered, prepare patient for bed, monitor patient throughout night and provide interventions as needed, in the morning ready patient for the day, perform treatments, administer medications, then give report to family or on-coming nurse. There is very little interaction with office staff or other co-workers. The hardest part of my job is the hours and the isolation. The most enjoyable part of my job is building relationships with my patient and the family. Also knowing that the service I am providing makes a significant difference in my patient's and the family's lives gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

I worked for Harmony HHC for just over a year. I really enjoyed my time working for this company. I was assigned to a very nice family, and was able to get to know my patient very well. 

The shifts and hours are flexible, and the management is very good about re-assigning you or changing your hours for what you need -- for example, each semester I was able to change my work schedule around my class schedule, which made working and going to school a lot easier.

Management is wonderful. They really get to know their nurses and are very concerned with making sure that staff is comfortable and that you're able to get the hours you need and want. 

The only thing I didn't like about this job was that the work is very repetitive, and almost too easy at times. You work with your patient one-on-one, and so there's a lot of down time. And if you like high-stress work, this may not be the place for you.

I really appreciated the flexibility of scheduling when I needed it. If I needed time off or needed extra hours, I was always accommodated. I felt very supported by my nursing supervisor when it was needed. It was a friendly and healthy work environment. I probably would stay forever if I wasn't moving out of state. My patient families were great and I always enjoyed going to work. The company was very supportive of putting the right nurse with the right family and didn't ever force things if it wasn't a good fit. I feel that added to everyone's satisfaction, including mine. I would recommend this company to nurses looking to work in pediatric home care. Pediatric home care was not my first choice when I was starting work as an RN, but the flexible schedule drew me into trying it... And I've been working in that area ever since because I've enjoyed it so much! Special kiddos and rewarding work. 

Typically I start between 8-8:30am and and home around 1pm. I am able to drop my kids off at school and be home when they get out of school. Management has been so generous and caring. The workplace culture is amazing and we all get along. The hardest part of this job is that schedules can change multiple times in a day due to patient needs. I really enjoy working with my patients and veterans.
