Healing Care Hospice

I was a new QAPI nurse.I started working in the office here a month ago and I was terminated because my sister, who also worked here, got fired. During the termination they gave me the run around and swore it was because of my work performance. I constantly asked my immediate supervisor for input on how I was doing and she always gave a reassuring and positive response. She always explained that it would take months for me to grasp many things. You could imagine the surprise I felt when she brought me to her office terminate me. No warning, no suspension, just a straight middle finger to my face. I never recieved any proper guidance and was left to figure things out on my own. I was constantly harrassed for being too quiet because I did not want to be part of the office gossip that was constantly taking place. At my termination my supervisor had the gaul to say, "take this as a learning experience." The only thing I took from this experience is to not trust someone when they smile at you and tell you everything is okay. My advice to anyone who is thinking about working here is learn how to be a brown-noser.

Healing Care Hospice has real heart at the center of their business. A few words that come to mind: Professional, teamwork, caring, always working on bettering the hospice experience for the patient and the family.
One story that comes to mind is a patient that was suffering and experiencing unmanaged pain while under the care of different medical group. The family approached Healing Care Hospice for the first time on a Wednesday at 3 pm. Understanding and caring about the patient's dire situation, the HCH Team went to work! By 9 pm that day, the pt had been admitted to HCH, received their medical equipment and comfort medications, a visit from the social worker, and there was a nurse at the bedside helping alleviate the extreme pain of the patient. It was a super proud moment to witness this and be a part of such an excellent, efficient, and most notably caring hospice team!  
I have worked at HCH for 5 years, watching it grow and excel in patient care!   Team members are very helpful, Clinical Managers listen to your concerns, the owner has heart.  It's a great place to work!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very supportive organization, from initial training, continuation of training, teamwork amongst coworkers, the management, everything is way above top notch.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Management goes out of their way to minimize job related stress. helpful on demand Triage nurses,  Vacation days, sick days, so on  and so forth.  I will ever leave this job voluntarily. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
very diversified, warm, and inclusive. All races, sexes, ages accommodated. A true collaborative culture, none of that slave driving, rigidly strict, fake  professional pretense.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyone is expected to perform their function properly with good judgment without micromanagement. You have to be a responsible person to work here. You can get away with doing a lot of stuff except doing a mediocre job.

This is a wonderful place to be and work for. Always positive energy and a company that truly cares about their employees. The leadership team in empowering, understanding, professional and kind. Their training is excellent. But most importantly...there people care about their patients and families. They care about their employees. They care about the care they provide and they ensure you are trained. The only thing asked of you is to give it your all, take pride in your work and professionalism and be a direct representation of the culture of this company.  Im am happy to work here and give my all. This is by far the best company I have worked for. I also know this because the families and patients they serve expressand say the same wonderful things about their staff and company.

Above all else this job taught me how, even the most experienced individuals can be unprofessional. If you are not on the good side of the management team you will be targeted or talked about. There was absolutely no training provided for my position. On my first day I was sat down at a desk and left to figure out what I needed to do for my position. When it came time to review my work all I received were trivialized remarks about my work performance with no actual guidance on work performance improvement. The general staff is very kind but the management team still has a lot of growth ahead of them.

Healing Care Hospice is an incredible organization that does really great work for the community it serves. Our staff are kind and passionate about the work they do and aim to provide top tier support and comfort to all patients and families as they navigate their end-of-life journey. Having been with the company for 5+ years, I can honestly say that Healing Care Hospice is a family - we laugh together, we are there for each other during hard times, we celebrate growing families and we work incredibly well together, with everyone doing their part to support the overall goals of the organization. 

I was part of a team where our lead would come in at 9am, take a 1.5 hour lunch, and leave at 4pm. The work hours are 8-5. It was so unfair. Just because he was buddies with the boss and his sister worked there, he did whatever he wanted. And no one could say anything about it without having bad stuff said about them. I needed time to take care of my family and they said I missed too many days. They pressure you to do a lot of work and they dont say thank you. do yourself a favor and dont work here

Healing Care is a great place to work for. I didn't know what to expect. walking in. but so far this is a great place to work for everyone is welcoming. management is the best. compensation is good. the Nurses for the company are hard working. and do amazing jobs at managing work load. the Team coordinator's are also great at what they do. I'm happy I was lucky enough to find such a great company.

None. I did not find anything stressful.

Team player, supportive, positive work environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
working in the field, means setting up your schedule for visit with patients.

A couple years ago it was a great place to work. Now the nepotism is apparent. The office staff is rude and not educated on hospice processes. Nurses spend so much time trying to build a bond and care for patients just to have their work undermined when patients or families call into the office. I’ve have multiple complaints from families about the office staff. It really feels like nurses aren’t supported by upper management. They see us as expendable.
