HealthCare Administrative Partners

Do not recommend this place. They are nice only the first day.  Bad management lots of drama & gossiping about employees between HR, leads and analysts. Not a professional organization. If you have to change cubes they make you crawl under desks, dismantle, unhook the wires and move all computer equipment  yourself by pushing it on your chair to next desk. You then have to hook it back up yourself. No IT on site and not in same state. The work at home that comes much later and also on site , requires employees to use  their own personal cell phone to call insurance companies who have blocked the company 800 phone number from calling them. They don’t pay for the use of employees personal cell or home phones they want used. They pretend they are calling insurance companies representing themselves as calling  from medical facilities of which they are not. . A third pary billing company that has an unreasonable training course  that employees refer to as a hazing during first week.  Poor treatment of new hires and a couple of mean employees doing the training. Some of the trainers (analysts) speak very negatively to trainees about the company and then accuse new hires of being negative after all their negative feed back to them about the place. They twist employees words during “check ins” to use them against them later.  If you question anything in training that they take pride in saying is an intentional overload of information you won’t use later but designed to leave your head spinning, they take offense. They turn it around and report to  the others that  the employee being trained  is not cooperating  and rrefusing to participate because they don’t like certain questions and don’t like to listen when someone is telling them to slow down so they can understand better. The different trainers not consistent with information being taught. It is very confusing because nobody is on the same page.  It is like an ego bruise to them if they are asked questions they don’t want to answer or don’t know the answer.  They shut down emotionally or become aggressive if asked too many questions in training. Don’t question anything or it will be used against you later in a negative context instead of how it actually was depending on the trainer. Some of the leads are very lazy and are never available to help new hires. You can’t ask anyone else much because mostly everyone there are new hires. There is a very high turn over per supervisors and HR confirmation.  People quit during training or are let go. Also, a no scent policy is stressed upon, but certain team leads and HR walk around wearing obvious scented perfumes or  scented hair products while wrongly accusing  and suggesting to innocent people that it is they who  are wearing perfumes when in fact the persons accused are not wearing any  perfume. They use the offenders of their own scent policy rules. They also use this highly stressed no scent policy as an excuse to accuse people wrongly of wearing scents  so they can terminate people. A very shady outfit at best. A bad traffic commute as well. A true, honest and accurate account of how this particular  place is operating. They offer the position fast and want your decision faster. Pay structure is twice monthly, not bi-weekly. Employees complain about that too.

This company has amazing potential to grow and become something great.  However, they suffer from two huge problems:
1.Financial Compensation: The starting pay is extremely low and unless you have prior medical billing experience, you will not come close to $14 or $15 per hour.  If you do have prior medical experience they will start you closer to $15, but expect double the work load from you.  A majority of people, including my manager who has been with the company for years, work a second job.  Yes, there is a food pantry in the cafe for people who cannot afford to bring lunch.
2.Terrible training:  The job training was the worst experience I have ever had.  The training for the first couple of weeks does not accurately show or explain the job you will be doing.  I was in a group of 5 and all of us complained to the training manager and HR director about the bad experience, nothing was done.  Expect confusion,  being thrown into something you do not know how to do, and lack of support from your team leads.  They are so overworked, you will never see them, unless you smoke, then they are all outside 5 or 6 times a day.
It also hinders the managers development of a team, since the turnover rate is sky high.  I would say 80/85% before I left, I was the last one in my orientation group to make it.
Bottom line: If you are in college and live at home, great place to start and get your feet wet.  If you are older and have bills to pay, look elsewhere.

I have been at HAP for almost 3 years now. It saddens me to say but I am going to be moving on. It was a great place to learn, but there is a lot better pay elsewhere. Not to mention the benefits. Health insurance is at 664 semi monthly. If you are the breadwinner in the house you are better off applying for Medicaid. You have to learn how to budget really quick but a lot of us find we have empty wallets every other week. The work load you are expected to do is not only overwhelming, it is pretty much impossible. Raises are 2%. Pay is $12 an hour to start. Driving past a sign at Dunkin Donuts advising you can earn 12.50 to start makes it a little hard to swallow. We are expected to do the Cash Posters job, even though the Cash Posters are in India. Most of our day is spent fixing their errors. They did survey us asking us what is going on because a lot of people are leaving here. There is a very high turn over rate. The management will take your concerns, but it's pretty obvious that they aren't actually listening to them. We do not get a lot to work with, for instance lost EOBS and payments are a pretty common occurrence. We are expected to do 12 tasks an hour.  Now for the good: They have activities, group meetings, events, food days etc. They do their best to keep the moral up.

Healthcare Administrative Partners gave me great experience to get started in the industry and provided a lot of opportunities for growth. I worked hard and felt like I was really contributing to the company. I got along great with most employees although there was little to no culture or office bonding experiences. The was very little cultural diversity among staff. Some management seemed to just come and go as they please making up their own office hours which were inconsistent and hardly ever came to the office eight hours a day. Most people with private offices do not come onsite to their office.  After two years at the company I received a promotion which made me feel very valued. I got a great raise and began learning so much from my new role. After two years in my new role I was told that my "position was being eliminated". It felt like my supervisor got tired of teaching me new skills and just needed a reason to get rid of someone who did nothing wrong. I invested four years in the company developing relationships and working hard and was not even offered a different position within the company. My experience at HAP started off really well but it ended with me being kicked to the curb.

If you’re in, you’re in. There are very wonderful people that work there, there’s no question about that. The problems come when you try to pay your bills on your hourly pay. You need to have more than just this income to keep afloat. This job is very demanding and you are NOT paid for the equivalent of the amount of you do on a day to day basis. What company that pays their employees well has a ‘food pantry’ for people that can’t afford to bring their lunch? This one does. That speaks very loud. But yet the owners and higher ups come into meetings and tell you how incredible business is and that money is flowing like never before. But where is the money going? Because it does NOT go to those who actually grind every day to get that money. Loving what you do and the people you work with is not enough to keep your head above water and keep a roof over your head. They say that their pay is in the Boston area pay, but that is NOT at all true. Money doesn’t bring happiness but being compensated enough to pay your monthly bills is a wonderful thing. This company does not offer that.  Especially when you find out that there are people working there for 3+ years not even making the hourly rate that you are.

Exceeding expectations without stress or pressure primarily because the company successfully motivates its employees without putting them into certain circumstances that can affect performance. The mission to deliver quality services at the maximum efficiency it's a success. It is amazing how the management and the employees maintain a certain professional relationship and smooth collaboration that enables everyone to have a good career path while maintaining the balance between life and career. The company also provides excellent insurance for health, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement plans. It is also important to note that the company has established integrity and gain clients' trust throughout the years because of this dedication not only for the clients but also to the entire workforce and healthcare industry.

I appreciate HAP for taking me in even if I was not a college graduate. It has been 9 years since, and I have gathered so much knowledge and skills (hard & soft). Skills like troubleshooting, pacifying clients, and how to navigate the healthcare system.

Management is very open to employees’ suggestions. And, the dedication showed by fellow employees never ceases to amaze me. 

HAP has been in the business for 26 years and still growing because of its laser focus on both client and employee satisfaction. Management has kept its promises from day one so I never encountered anything to be disappointed about.
