At Healthnet I had the opportunity to work with the VA in providing civilian healthcare for Veterans who would otherwise be on the waiting list at the VA for various categories of health issues. In a day I schedule appointments for Veterans with providers, call Veterans with the appointment information, electronically fax medical documents while following HIPAA laws and regulations. My job also consists of data entry and electronic filing of patients medical information and documents while in a call center setting. The hardest part of my job was not being able to help all the Veterans that need care. On the upside of that is I got to work with great people under dedicated and very knowledgeable management.

The culture is very controlling. As a manager I was not respected by my superior in my role. The company is not supportive or caring about employees. They are not upfront with vendor staff about true opportunities within the company. They force management to be untruthful to the employees in regards to opportunities, job stability concerns, and even guidelines. The atmosphere created is negative for everyone. I have nothing good to say about Healthnet. Rules are continuously being changed. Employees are not satisfied and constantly leaving even with a decent hourly wage being offered. I would not recommend a job at this place to anyone. 

Ensuring rooms are stocked and clean, obtain vitals on each patient, keep MD rooms full, administer vaccinations, hearing exams, eye exams, check MD constantly, add urgent patients in cancelled slots, prepare for next day schedule by ensuring all testing and medical records have been received and scanned into their patient profile, update medications, call in prescription refills, obtain prior authorization for diagnostic testing, fax patient referrals for specialist consults, obtain labs, assist MD with patient exams, provide patient education when needed 

HealthNet brings a very welcoming environment. HealthNet also cares about their patients and employees. They truly care about the patients they serve and really remind everyone that healthcare is universal and needed for everyone. I have always felt welcomed and wanted when working at here too. There are some opportunities to grow within the organization, but there is also more opportunities to grow/transfer to different health center locations, so if you can't move up, you can certainly move around.

I loved my patients and the doctor and midwife I worked with 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They have management that has their favorites and they do not care for all the employees 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They are very short staffed and you will have to do the work of 2 Medical Assistants 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy and very fast paced. You will have good and bad patients but the doctor or provider you work with really makes the day

Within the 4 1/2 years I was with this company, I watched the morale and work conditions go from very good to extremely poor. Several employees were diagnosed with anxiety and other work related conditions. The call center intake representatives were treated with little dignity and respect. They were often belittled in front of their colleagues. I saw staff terminated simply because they were not "liked" by a certain manager. I would not advocate this company as a good place to work. It was awful.

This was an okay place to work. 
Nothing especially great or horrible about it. 
You can mostly just put your head down and work with little to no problem. 
It was not easy to advance here.
Even with great experience, your resume can easily get passed over, and you'll find yourself in the same dead-end position for years. 
Concerning management, I had a couple of great managers that were friendly and supportive concerning work.
There are definitely no bells and whistles here, no great bonuses or parties thrown for us. Just kind of do your work and go home.

Coordinating appointments with providers to ensure timely delivery of diagnostic and treatment services.  
•Maintaining communication with patients, survivors, families, and the health care providers to monitor patient  
satisfaction with the cancer care experience  
Ensuring that appropriate medical records are available at scheduled appointments.  
Arranging language translation or interpretation services.  
Facilitating financial support and helping with paperwork.  
Arranging transportation and/or child/elder care.  
Facilitating linkages to follow

Trainers say there is so much support on the call center floor. There is not. You are lucky if you get help with a yes/no question after 2 hours. Asking for help via email? Lol. You’ll never get an answer. Certain function require reaching out to the original rep but you can never find them because they got smart and quit. So then you have to start a process over and the caller has to wait an additional 6 weeks. If you need to ask another department a question, you might get an answer in 7-10 days. It’s ridiculous. 

I process applications, answer telephone calls and emails. Problem solving is a big part of my job. I've learned how to help people and work as part of a team. The best part of my job is knowing that I made a difference in someone's life by helping them get the care they need. The most difficult part of my job is the negativity. There is no positive reinforcement. You are only told when you make a mistake, not when you have done well. I am very thankful to have been employed when I needed it most, but it is no longer a good fit for me.
