I was hired as a part time profee coder for one of their rural clinics. I just missed the 90 day mark before I was terminated. I was given the reason of my performance which actually only received two audits while in production. One met goal and one did not meet goal (avg 93%). When I asked follow up questions, I was told they had several contracts end and several other people were also let go. Please if you are looking for part time work because you have a stable full time job, do not look here. They require you to work 20 hours but you only actually will work 20 hours maybe within the first month. I was also promised a sign on bonus paid out in percentages after you meet a certain time frame (i see why). I only made it past the 30 day mark and received 10%. Of the barely 3 months I worked there. I was told two different weeks that I could no longer work that week because preference was given to full time employees. I understand that but I was not made aware at the time of hire that they actually prefer full time employees. One of the things that sold me on HCCS, was in their marketing that they are U.S. based and will not offshore jobs. That is fine, but if there is not enough work to go around, what is the point of hiring so many people. It seems as if they have too many micromanagers but fail to actually make use of all their employees. There should not be a massive turnover of employees every few months. I did enjoy my coworkers who I worked with but when it came down to actual hours to work, training and the time keeping system, having to be told not to work and it vary from week to week, those were all negative. Alas, when one door closes another opens. 




No contact with assigned manager until more than 6 months of employment had passed. National company servicing multiple facilities. Facility assignment is arbitrary, not focused on current skills. Training was incomplete;  "thrown to the wolves," and was required to work accounts without adequate understanding. Facilities have different EMR requiring extreme adaptability to keep up with the software used. Initial facility assigned ran out of work on a weekly basis, causing missed hours due to no work, resulting in smaller paycheck than budgeted. Requested additional facility, granted, and then continued to run out of work due to the number of coders assigned to facility. Ended up with FOUR facilities and STILL not enough to fill my 40-hour week. Audits occur monthly for each facility assigned. Audits are very difficult to pass with vague, difficult to understand method of scoring, seemingly subjective. In a year, there were THREE different auditors assigned to one facility, each with a DIFFERENT answer for the same basic questions. Time card entry performed through proprietary program; essentially a database where one must enter EACH account number, logging by facility and type of account. Time keeping program would often falter (at least once every two months), requiring logging of information in a "down-time tracker" which was an Excel spreadsheet with Macros; this was extremely difficult.

I was hired and started training with practically nothing to do. I had no direction and got called by HR and reemed for not working my full hours when they told me that I couldn't work unless there were charts available. My audits were in the 90's percent wise and I randomly got a message saying they were not happy with my improvement and not to do anymore until further notice. It then took them a week to finally call and fire me. They made me feel like I was the problem when I did what I was told from the beginning. This place is a joke. Their chart time keeping system is a joke also. I've never had a job where I only got paid while I was in a chart. I was expected to work normal business hours during training but I had no work to do, which meant I was supposed to sit at my desk all day without being paid until they decided to reach out to me. I've never seen such a disorganized, unprofessional horrible company in my whole career. If you're looking for a job, do not go here! This place has so much turnover which says something about them. Go to a reputable company. Good riddance to this ridiculous place.

Scary is moving from a position in a single hospital to working as a consultant.  Hands down best decision I have made. Previously I was in a position where my knowledge and work was not valued.  Every day my move to HCCS has proved a good decision. I have been assigned to a hospital that truly values the work I provide every day.  The HCCS management team has provided solid support allowing me to be useful again.  The culture at HCCS feels like the close-knit family I had in the hospital environment.  I can pick up the phone and call at any time if I have a question.  I am always met with a smiling voice and feel like I receive red carpet service (as though I am a client and not an employee).  The most enjoyable part of the job is making the connections and friendships with the facilities I am assigned to.  I look forward to a long and happy career with HCCS.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I feel very lucky to be able to call this my work home :)The pay is one of the many perks. I have learned a lot from my auditor in ENT coding. I suffer from 2 chronic illnesses, and this job allows me to work a flexible schedule (plus overtime when I can).  They do require high expectations, but these are very achievable if you take the time to study your clinic ( plus ask questions). I was worried about using Chart Counts but it is not that difficult to use after training. I can't wait to continue to grow with HCCS! You should apply if you are looking to grow in your coding and willing to learn .

I don’t believe this company has enough work for the amount of hiring that they’re doing. I believe they hire people to have back up. Or in anticipation for a new client. Their timekeeping system is a nightmare. It’s called chart count. It literally times you by the second, but the problem is in order for you to get eight hours. You would literally need to do 10 hours of work. It’s just not realistic. But they try to convince you that it is. There was very little training and I mean very little and then you thrown into the fire. It’s just not fair. I’m so upset. I quit my stable employment. I ended up leaving after two weeks. It wasn’t worth the stress. Because they want their eight hours , even if there’s really nothing for you to do and you’re searching for accounts to work. I will say everyone was nice, but the company needs a revamp in bringing on new coders.

If you are looking for a legit remote coding position, this is it. Company is based in Florida, but I work in Michigan, and I have coworkers in many states. While it is 100% remote, I have been able to make a friend across the country. They encourage communication and involvement. As a mom of 5, they are very understanding and flexible with scheduling as long as you meet your hours and communicate. Monthly meetings/education with team and auditors is very helpful. They use a program called ChartCounts to keep track of charts and hours which can be tedious. The IT team is quick to fix problems.

I would avoid this place if you are looking for a stable job & definitely do not leave a stable job for this job. They are “always hiring” but never actually hiring. It took months to go through the process & never actually getting hired. I got the impression that they keep potential employees dangling for when/if they need them. They kept telling me they were waiting for approval for the position from the financial department & waiting for clients/contracts to actually officially hire me. During this waiting process I found an actual job directly with a hospital & told them to stop wasting my time. 

I was so excited to start with this company, but it turned out to be the most stressful job in my coding career! All they care about is the client and making them happy and do not care how you feel even though you’re an awesome coder. Also, I did not feel it was a stable/secure position, and many coders were complaining of lack of work which is horrible because it affects your paycheck..and honestly who wants to live like that! Pay was low with no hope of raises, and benefits were way too expensive! Happy I left and found a great, stable coding job working directly for a hospital.
