My typical work day was the very same every day. As a salaried employee here I quickly learned you were to clock in and out daily and for lunch breaks. Assisted members with benefits questions, completed prior authorizations and review for medical necessity. I learned a lot about the health insurance industry and how prevention to disease is key. Management style was micromanagement, my direct reporting supervisor was more concerned with what time you clocked in, rather than teaching you to be better at you job for the company. We are very isolated with in our departments and some co-workers spoke very harsh to other co- workers when they had a question or concern. This was discouraging. The most difficult part of my job was sitting all day, every day and the inability to concentrate and focus due to set up of a call center environment for work stations. Also opinion of operations was never recognized or requested. Most enjoyable part of my day was when member told me how much i had really helped them and how much they valued my assistance.

You won't get credit for your ideas they implement, regardless of the value, not even verbal "attaboy". You have to be willing to put your ethics and rights aside in order to be considered loyal. They have convinced salary employees that they are exempt from overtime, they are very underhanded and will take away your rights if you don't know better or have the guts to stand up for yourself. If you stand up for yourself you'll be knocked down and everyone will turn against you. They still handle things the way they did in the 90's in most departments. Managers play favortism and give special privileges to those who will hide their mistakes and lie for them. Managers stick together and work together to get rid of employees they don't like regardless of the quality of the employee. Many managers don't know the job they manage and are not helpful. The office is micro cubicles and crowded. The company believes if it looks nice everyone will be happy even though many are not comfortable.

Healthgram has a modern progressive work culture.  Managers are supportive and the work has a strong sense of purpose.  Leadership is strong and projects move fast.  They have been in business for over 45 years and sill growing.  I enjoy going to work and connecting with my co workers.  I love the projects we work on together and the trainers are fun to work with! 

I have been very blessed to work for healthgram, Inc. for over 20 years.  The atmosphere feels more like family.  I have advanced over the years in knowledge and position.  I love how the company promotes health and well being of their employees.  I miss everyone being in the office since Covid, but was glad they offered work from home and flexibility.  I enjoy the job I do; and that is why I have the feeling of accomplishment and success.    

Been with Healthgram for over 5 years and it's been great! My managers have been knowledgeable, supportive, and invested to seeing me grow. I came in with not a lot of prior experience in Healthcare, but have learned so much over the years.

I learned that by actively listening to my caller/coworker and repeating in my own words their issue(s) that I have a better understanding of their issues and/or concerns.

By identifying the "type" of customer/caller/client (talker,supporter,controller or doer) I can "mirror" them for a more successful resolution and therefore offer better support.

The company values loyalty. Great PTO schedule once you get past the waiting period. Good benefit package. Work schedule really is 8-5, you don't feel forced to work beyond that - make for a good work life balance. The people who work here are super friendly. Company does fun things like company lunches and breakfast throughout the year. Onsite exercise classes so you can get a workout in at lunch.

I learned a new aspect to nursing by joining the pre-certification team. I felt as if I was picked on because I was not in a clique. I did my job the best I could until I just couldn’t take the nit picking any more.  The system is very old and loses data all the time. They have great incentives to lose weight and get into shape.  The health coaches will even help you with exercises and meal plans.

I've learned an extraordinary amount about the healthcare insurance world from this company so I'm very grateful for that. Best part of the job is helping those in need to get affordable healthcare and get the most from their benefits.
