When I was given the opportunity to work at HW, I didn't know what to expect. I was excited to be apart of a women's centered club, as it is rare to come across one in other cities I've been in. Working at HWX has given me the opportunity to expand my skillset and knowledge within the most caring group of team members I've worked with. I was truly welcomed with open arms and rarely felt judgement when wanting to contribute my thoughts, as everyone was encouraged to give feedback. I really appreciated the management team I worked with, they provided a foundation for me to learn and grow in my management experience that I believe will allow me to thrive in new opportunities. They were so flexible, encouraging, dependable and communicative. I never felt overwhelmed with the work load I took on/was given. Not only did I love working with the managerial team but I also adored our front desk team, housekeeping team, personal trainers and massage therapists. I have worked with several fitness companies and none of them compares to the community that Healthworks has built. I have never felt so much respect from a company and have deeply appreciated the opportunity to work with them, it was tough to leave a place that truly cares so much about their employees. I would be delighted at the opportunity to work with them again in the future, but for now a see you soon!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Incredibly supportive work culture - never feel bad asking for accommodations or time off. Company invests time and resources towards being as inclusive as possible.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being such a multi-faceted business, there are a lot of facility issues, but they are always dealt with as swiftly as possible.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very accommodating culture - always feel heard and supported. Can be very fast-paced at times, but there is a strong sense of teamwork that keeps it rolling. Very thorough training and onboarding process for new hires.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Have the same schedule every week and the days off of my choice. Small rush in the mornings, very quiet afternoons, busy in the evenings. Always feel adequately staffed for the busier times of day. Free to structure my time and do most of my administrative tasks earlier in the day. Handful of meetings per week.

This is by far one of the best gyms I've ever worked at and attended. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable, we work collaboratively as a team making the member's wellness/fitness goals our #1 priority. We treat every member as an individual and empower each and every women to look and feel their best. 

I work among a strong community of people whose passion for wellness and fitness is immeasurable. What I like most about this company is that we invest not only in our members, but also in the communities they work and live in. There is never a dull moment at HW. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to help women on a daily basis achieve their wellness/fitness goals, with therapeutic work, and or simply answering questions, problem solving and/or guiding someone in the right direction.

I was required to work a certain amount of hours but only got paid when I was with a client, i.e. worked 7 hours per day and had 5 clients in which I was paid for, the other 2 hours I was not compensated for.  It is a bit of a stressful environment, I feel that helping members/clients reach their fitness goals fell by the wayside and became very financially goal oriented losing site of why I got into this industry.  I love my clients, they make my day fun and enthusiastic.  My co-workers a great, very well educated and we bounced things off each other often.

I have been at Healthworks for over 10 years and it's been an amazing career. Healthworks has great career growth opportunities, competitive pay and most importantly has become my work family. I feel lucky to be part of a team that gets the opportunity to impact the health and wellness of our members and the Boston community everyday. I love the fact that I have an impact on the big picture, all employees are encouraged to bring their ideas and concerns to the table, some of our best program ideas come from our trainers/instructors.

When I was offered a job at Healthworks, I was ecstatic. I thought the company’s mission and values aligned with my own perfectly. I was very wrong. 

On the website, they say “Our women’s only clubs are intentional spaces for connection because we know that meaningful friendships and a supportive community play a vital role in physical and mental wellness.”

But in practice, all managers care about is selling personal training. AT ALL COSTS. They do not care about employees’ wellbeing or mental health. They don’t value community members, unless there is a dollar sign attached to them.

I have been with Healthworks for 2.5 years now and can honestly say it's the best health club I've ever worked for.  I started as a trainer and am now the Fitness Director of one of the clubs.  I was able to grow with the company due to the strong support and mentoring I received from my managers along the way.  Healthworks provides great benefits and truly promotes work/life balance.  The fact that I love the people I work with and the atmosphere of the club keeps me happy at work every day!

Very happy no problems here! I didn't really mean to start writing an evaluation and now I'm afraid I'll lose my last edit to my profile if I navigate away. Healthworks is perfect when you're in charge of yourself and your own schedule. It gets a little hairy to manage your clientele after that. Unlike other gyms, trainers are entrusted with processing all our clients' transactions, pacing the rate at which they'll buy sessions in the future, scheduling and rescheduling. Other than that it's perfect.

I've been at Healthworks for about a year now. I have NEVER worked at such an amazing company - especially in Fitness! 

Everyone at the company treats one another with respect, are so friendly and encouraging of a team environment! 

Benefits and compensation are better than any fitness industry that I've heard of/experienced in the industry.

I can't say enough good things about this company - I've recommended close friends to work here that are now employed. It is a great place to work and play!

Working at Healthworks has made a big difference in my life. Its a positive atmosphere to gain knowledge about the healthcare industry, even at the front desk. The hardest part of the job is becoming an information Octopus, answering questions, answering telephones, booking massage and child care appointments with a smile on your face. It will definitely keep you on your toes.
