This company is run by a woman who has all of her "friends" in the highest positions while they have no idea what they are doing, but will pull up in their fancy cars and judge.  There is no training, let me repeat, no training and yet they expect you to know it all.  New management at Penfield recently, the Administrator is nice enough but will not deal with problems head on.  No support from coworkers or management and did I mention no training?  Residents are awesome but no real activities to keep them alert and busy.  Seems the local management team just goes through the motions each day and don't really care.  Employees are not happy and the ones who do stay are those who do so only for the residents or they are liked so they can do what they want throughout the day.  Lots of cliques, both in staff and management. A lot of the day nursing staff just walk around together and take multiple breaks and no one bats an eye.  One good worker is left to cover the entire building for less than minimum wage.  Management is aware but nothing gets done.   I would not put my worst enemy here and suggest you stay away from working here.

I have to start off by saying I absolutely love the resident but this place is not a good place for people who actually want to be good aides. Very negative environment to work in with all the gossip & lazy staff & most of all favoritisms. Management is beyond weak. They allow certain staff to punk them into getting what they want .They tell them where they like to be assigned & who they want to work with & what days they want to work. Staff leave assigned areas to visit friends or leave the building for an hour lunch break with friends or for smoke breaks.  Call bells are answered by the same people because everybody eles is relaxing , eating the residents food, sleeping or ordering stuff like weave. Being late is a hobby. Always lowstaff so overtime is available.There’s only 2-3 good lpns . The rest are clueless & childish . Please save yourself the waste of time & find another place to work. They don’t want hard-workers period.

I was at heathwood almost two years. It wasn't anything horrible. It's not state run so don't expect to get a raise ever. Some of the residents pay 10,000 a month, and there's 20 heathwoods around the country. That $$$ goes right in the pocket of the owner. When people begged to get a raise..her response was "well your lucky to have a job". I mean..really..WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE?? SOME JIVE TURKEY?? However it is a very laid back atmosphere and I made alot of friends there. I left because I really liked my boss and his assistant. After they left, it kinda went downhill from thereon. I liked my new boss as well, I did. But, I just felt it was time to move on. I quickly got another job with more benefits and more $. So all in all it's a good place to work, I'm not gonna knock it. It was just time for me to move on. All in all, as I said it's chilled out place to work, laid back. 

As an RN for over 48 years, I am proud to be a team member of Heathwood Assisted Living and Memory Care.  The quality of this facility that impresses me the most is the staff's reverence for the individual, one of our core values.  I have witnessed many staff members who go above and beyond with kindness, respect, caring and encouragement for all residents to be the best they can be.  Administration and staff perform their best to make this facility clean, comfortable and welcoming for our residents.  Resident's dignity is foremost on our minds.  We revere our residents and treat them as if they were our own family members.  I am happy to be a member of Heathwood where our mission is care without compromise.

From ownership on down there is a sense of wanting to do what is right for the residents.  In senior care it needs to be about the residents and that is how Heathwood approaches it.  Most of the staff is very supportive and caring and I truly feel rewarded to be able to work with so many good employees (and people).  Like anywhere there are some challenges but the good outweighs the bad.  Staff willing to help each other out in most situations.  

They had put a note by the time clock saying you would get a candy bar if you posted a nice reveiws on indeed. so they need to bribe you with a candy bar to say something nice about them,  They do not care what goes on as long as the shift is filled. If you are a lazy nurse or aid looking for a place  where your co workers are never there to help because they are constantly in thier cars  vaping, and taking hour long breaks all at the same time and not answering calls for help, then this is the place for you. In the little time I worked there I have seen more than a dozen nurses and aids quit. the managers are related to many of the workers and all go behind each others backs to gossip. dont work here!

Terrible place to work. Everything sounded wonderful when I interviewed but went downhill quickly after I came on board. Neglected to tell me ALL of my job responsibilities! Management is beyond terrible....heads buried in the sand to avoid dealing with massive problems. It is unbelievable what the “favorites” get away with. Little to no training / support was offered and my manager had the nerve to say I didn’t “seem happy” when I resigned after 6 weeks. Why didn’t you ask before it was too late? I met some really nice people but the nursing / aide department? Mean, childish, and back stabbing! My advice.....stay away! Toxic environment! 

I have worked in professional settings since 1988. This includes corporate and small businesses.  Heathwood provides me with a comfortable work environment.  I have never had a day I dread coming to work in my 9 yrs of employment.  There are stress filled days, but my team supports one another at these times.  I am a glass half full thinker.  I appreciate (don’t expect) extras and flexibility.  No company is perfect, but HW comes pretty close from where I stand.  I truly hope to finish my career w/ HW and appreciate my job.

I enjoy working along side my co-workers each and every day at Heathwood. It's such a rewarding job to help all of our amazing residents thrive and enjoy their time at our community. 
Working for a family owned  company makes a huge difference. I have worked for large corporations before where you feel like just a number. It's a great feeling to know that when the owner comes in, she knows everyone's name and truly listens to what you have to say.
There is no other community I would rather work for!




Working at Heathwood has given me a supportive environment to learn and grow in my current position. I have formed amazing relationships with coworkers and management, and look forward to each shift. Residents and families at Heathwood are involved and compassionate, and contribute to an amazing community and environment.
