In my 10 years working in medical billing field, this place by far is the BEST! Everyone from the team you are into the contacts at the facilities are so amazing, positive, and helpful. The mentality this company holds is not to let you fail or struggle but to always support you if you have questions or need further training to be the best you can be at your job. When they say we are a team, and we are in this together they mean every word of it. Management is very approachable with any questions or concerns you may have, and never once have I felt like I was bothering anyone with my questions, ideas, or concerns.
Training is taken very seriously, and time and effort is put into it. Your training is not just here are the bathrooms, kitchen, your office computer (light pat on the back), best of luck to you. They take the time to let you sit with different people and give you the optics of how things are done and to take notes. A procedure binder is also made and given to you for you to reference too. Once the shadowing is done, they sit with you every day going through the job, tasks, and steps you need to do to do your job. Once YOU feel comfortable than you may go on your own, and like stated before, if you have questions, get stuck, everyone is so supportive you can go back for help and not made to feel stupid or like you are intruding.
There is a reason why people have been here for years, and the environment speaks for itself. Hands down this place must be the best place I have ever had the pleasure working for. If you ever have the opportunity to join this team, take it, you wont regret it. I give this place 9.9 out of 10. You can see why in the cons why. Con: Keurig machine is not hard line in to a water line so you have to fill it most the time when you make coffee.

If you are new and trying to make things better, good luck. Employees who have been there for over a year are unwilling to change.  They rely on other departments constantly to help with theirs even if it means expecting staff to operate outside of their scope of practice or training. The excuse is “It’s the way we have always done it”.

There are cliques and they will do whatever necessary to protect someone even if that person is not doing their job. And if you try to report anything concerning the residents, just know they will turn it around on you.  They will do this to the detriment of the residents they serve.  (Complaints of mail being opened, being ignored)

You will not be fully trained and expected to figure everything out on your own. This can be stressful especially when you are not only new to the facility but the position as well. The administrator will not give you any guidance either. I had to ask 3 times and never received the information I needed.   Pay can be decent, but they could offer more especially for CNAs, nurses, etc.

Like most LTC facilities, you do what you can with what you have & that is what a majority of the staff does in this specific facility. There’s always going to be staff members that care & put in more effort than others- but in my opinion, as far as the actual caretakers, there are more “good” than “bad.” Staffing is an issue sometimes, like most nursing homes- but corporate does not make the situation any easier. Overall corporate seems to be the main issue in a lot of this places downfalls- Pushing & inevitably trying to force administration to decrease the number of staff scheduled every day/night- expecting 2 nurses to provide adequate care for 4 halls, averaging 60-70 residents, as well as maximum (rare occasions where there are a few more for a short amount of time) 8 CNA’s during the day, 4 at night.. The larger number of residents and staff are great, just wish corporate was more ethical and generous, while also balancing the business side of things. 

Well this company has tought me what to look for in a poorly ran company. This company wheels you in with lies, they don't train anyone in the buliding including the administrator. They bend the rules and the state law and expect the employee to keep quiet !
On the outside, looking at the web site or when you come in for an interview it llooks great. I was a dietary manager at on of the dirtiest kitchens I had ever seen !( which they never showed me in the interview process where I took a tour of the building)
The coorprate team pretends to care about what is going on in the building, but just care about the number of filled beds. This is not a family friendly work place,bad insurence. Pay you on salary of 40 hours but you work at least 50 so you basicly are working for free anything after 40 and Mon-Fri.

There is bad management and then there's really bad management. On a corporate level this regional director should never be in charge of anyone or anything. She is threatening, demanding, and will make your life as hard as possible. Need help? She will try and make you feel stupid. Need advice? She will shame you for not knowing what to do. She is a horrendous liar and discourages being upfront with state investigators. She will encourage staff to lie and hide things during state investigations. OVERALL a terrible human being and made the experience a miserable one. Not the job for you if you like to work in an ethical environment. Check out the turnover rate for Hillside... She's a freaking nightmare. 

I joined as a nurse aid trainee but never made it past that point. I felt like all along the way the ball was dropped on getting me though the program and I was the only one doing any follow up. It felt like they would have gladly let me continue to work as a CNA but never being paid as a CNA or assisting with getting my certificate as promised, there was always “something out of our control” that kept me from moving forward. I was also not reimbursed for the mileage I put my on own car to drive a hour for “training” that never happened because the trainer was to busy doing their other job tasks. Your better off getting a CNA at school then get a job with a agency and getting paid more then attempting to work here. 

I would give less than one star if possible. Staff openly gossips and starts drama in front of visitors and residents. Bullies in the workplace. Reports of harassment/neglecting residents are ignored, even when brought up multiple times by multiple people. Any position that isn't nursing or upper management is disrespected and mocked openly with no repercussions. Hours are cut shorter and shorter, there's not enough time to get everything done even if you're the hardest, quickest worker. Little to no covid-safety enforced, even during an outbreak in the facility. The facility does not care about you, your health, your mental health, or your positon.

Left job of 20 years as a result of poor owners inept administrative staff and lack of empathy for the patients, their families and employees. It was a terrific insight on corporate greed and uncaring management. If you can feed a person on less than $3.50 a day and let them have tasty choices, caring and compassionate care givers who take pride in their work maybe send them an fyi as well as jelly belly on how to go manage this…

LOVE THE JOB, I COOK, VISIT WITH MY RESIDENTS TO WHOM I KNOW ALL BY NAME AND ROOM.WHAT THEIR DISLIKES ARE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IN LIFE.I WORK WITH AIDS THAT ARE IN 60 AGE GROUP SO I FEEL I DO ALOT OF THE WORK AS WELL THEY ARE TO DO..WHICH MAKES MY DAY QUITE BUSY WITH NO BREAKS..I HAVE COOKED FOR 12 YEARS AND BY MY CO WORKERS AND BOSS I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY FOOD IS AWSOME WHICH IN RETURN GIVES ME GREAT PRIDE IN MY WORK....THE DAILY STRUGGLE OF KEEPING EVERY THING ON TIME WITH SLOWER STAFF VERY MUCH STRESSES ME..OTHERWISE I LOVE WHAT I DO, I BELIEVE MANAGEMENT SHOULD MAKE THE CHANGES NEEDED TO MAKE A PRODUCTIVE KITCHEN FOR ALL AND NOT OVERLOAD ONE PERSON TO COVER EVERYONE ELSE THAT CANNOT COMPLETE THE TASK AT HAND

The most stressful part of working at Helia was not knowing if you were going to get any days to work within the week. Hiring on as full time employee to getting four days per pay.
