Unfortunately this job sounds amazing, but once you get in the building it is nothing like you expect. 

I got training one way, and then was thrown in to handling other task without being trained. I felt like the mistakes I made could have not happened if I had the bare minimum training especially with all the details that go into the job itself. 2nd, everyone one handles their caseloads differently and there is no one system in place to help everyone stay on the same page. 

The managers don’t care about you. Someone can yell and belittle you or thrown a tantrum they will not say anything. They leave the good people hanging…. No assistance, what so ever. 

They throw these monthly potlucks and what not to make it seem like the company has a good culture but it’s toxic. The worst I have ever worked, going home to hating everything about my job and becoming depressed because everything is your fault as the care coordinator. You could follow up on an issues 50 times, but if something happens and you didn’t follow up the 51st time you are at fault. 

Some of the nurses were the best literally had the ride - or - die nurses and then there are ones you have to question….. they cancel the day of on a patient and not tell the patient or will no show, they cancel all the time and the care coordinator is the one who takes the heat. 

The stress is unbelievable for the amount of money they pay. You literally deal with the entire life cycle of the patient and you get paid ok, but not for the stress. 

I will be honest I went home crying A LOT. This job is mentally not worth it in my opinion. 

Oh and be careful people go into work with Covid and the flu, so people are sick all the time. They give you sick time, but doesn’t help with they constantly let people come in sick. 

You also get to work from home on holidays, but if you’re sick they won’t let you. Even if the job can honestly all be done at home. You have to take a hit to your attendance when you’re sick. 

It is just okay some of the times and awful all the other times 

A typical day at work has a faucet of many activities.  Let’s just say, it’s always busy here.  There is a lot of interaction throughout the teams from Admin, HR, Accounting, Compliance, Care Coordinators, Nurses, & Management.  The number one thing we all focus on is how our patients get taken care of.

HHC started in the Carolinas & has been quick to offer help to any patient in need.  It does not matter the case; when we get the call from our pharmacies, we will do everything we can to start care for the patients.  

Since the company has started 5 years ago, it has grown immensely.  As of November, we can now extend our services to Virginia & Kentucky.  I know the main reason is our wonderful nurses.  We cannot do it without them.  

I am so excited to move in December to our new spacious office in Stanley.  It will be able to hold all of us in one building.  I've seen the freshly paved parking spaces & new work areas.  Added some new furniture to give it a professional look.  I’m sure our conference room will be a great area for our teams to gather for bi-weekly meetings, potlucks, conference calls and brainstorming sessions.  

All our team members are involved in the daily workings of the company.  I know the company values collaboration and hard work.  HHC encourages advancement & are open to ideas.  What makes the company stronger than ever are the employees & their commitment to the company’s success.  I would recommend HHC to all my friends & family.  This company is not like any other.  I truly believe this is only the beginning of great things to come.

Helms Home Care is a very positive place to work. Everyone from staff to management is very helpful and kind in making sure you are doing your job correctly. This is a very important job and being in a health care setting you want to make sure you're providing the best you can for your company and its patients. The best part of the job is definitely the people you work with. It really makes the world of difference coming into a workplace where you feel welcome and excited to be there. Management is very sufficient in making sure you have the tools  you need to complete your job correctly and accurately. They really go out of their way to make sure you know what you're doing. I have learned so much already about the health care world by being a part of it for a short amount of time. Everyone plays such a huge role in making sure the patients are well taken care of as well as making sure the caregivers also have what they need to make it easier to provide the best care that they can. I feel excited about my growth here at Helms Home Care and I feel blessed to be apart of this company.

Helms Home Care is a company that started out as a great place to work. However, due to lots of upper management switch arounds and lack of management support became a very uncomfortable and almost toxic environment. This company is a company designed by a nurse and ran for nurses. Therefore, you are always struggling as a care coordinator with little to no support from managers and supervisors. When dealing with upset pharmacies and/or patients, you are told "Oh well that is what they do, update the notes." Rather than management step in and say to the clients "this is not how we speak to people and I understand frustration blah blah blah." The job was enjoyable until there were changes made to coordination rather than changes made to the nursing. 

Flexible work schedule you set yourself by accepting or declining new patients. Some are long term, with visit needs weekly, monthly, or q8-10weeks, or 3 months. Some are temporary, like weekly for 4-6 weeks. All are infusion related. Some visits are 30 minutes. Some are 5 hrs. You pick the type you prefer. Paid for travel at government set rate per mile. Company always working on how to make improvements.  Occasional incentive pay. Distance you drive is your choice. No patient transportation needed. All your supplies provided or reimbursed for things like BP cuff and stethoscope.  You are responsible for informing them of what special education you need. ie. Pump use, med infusion by type, procedures like centralize blood draws, PICC care and dressing changes, Port-a-cath accessing, chemo take down, TPN teaching, IVIG, SCIG, etc.  Challenging job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helms Home Care has been amazing so far. The technology and operations of this company amazes me. All of the infusion coordinators are great, and the management staff are friendly and accessible. I am really happy that I applied. Home infusion is a great way to keep skills and assessments sharp. I love the autonomyof the job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I haven’t found this job to be stressful at all.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is friendly and easy going. Environment is on the road!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I am PRN so I plan my visits on days when I am not working my regular job. I work with the patient to schedule a time that fits their schedule. I pick the lab facility that works best for me when blood is drawn. It’s quite simple.

This company seems good from the outside looking in, but trust me looks are so deceiving. Very toxic environment with a management staff made ENTIRELY of the CEOs closest friends. Do not do it!! The favoritism shown to the “managers” is a blatant slap in the face for the office staff, care coordinators in particular. Everything that happens to the company is blamed on the care coordination team as they are always the ones managers feel safest to “throw under the bus”. Trust me this place is not worth your sanity or mental health. Turnover rate is through the roof, many people quit before they even hit their 90days. 

It's a stressful job, and I found myself checking my work notifications when I was off to see what I would have to deal with when I came back. Nurses work PRN and will frequently call out with no explanation or no call/no show their patients with little consequence and leave you to deal with the aftermath of angry patients, specialty pharmacies, and MDs. And if other people don't pull their weight and you're actually good at the job, you'll be picking up a lot of the slack. I met a lot of nice people and they like to have parties, trivia, and potlucks, which is nice, but changes need to be made with how things are run right now because it's exhausting and super easy to get burnt out. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The admin are WONDERFUL!  Very supportive, nice, caring.  It truly is outstanding.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It isn't easy seeing people in their homes.  
And then if you have a difficult stick, there isn't someone else to help you.  But, most of the times, it's fine.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is excellent.  Caring people are admin.  Everyone is helpful.  It's a far very from my other job

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work per diem.  So I work about 2 days a week.  I see one pt a day, two max.  I start an IV, give an infusion, monitor the pt and VS.

I worked for this company for 5 months and in those 5 months 4 new hires after me left before they hit their 90 days. That alone should tell you everything! Their turn over rate is sky high. The training is horrible. There is no couching. No one on ones. You have to send a list of all your work at the end of each day. Lots of favoritism in the company. You are sat in front of cameras and you are constantly being reminded that you are being watched. Different departments have different rules. They don’t care about their employees, only hitting their unrealistic goals. Save yourself the headache and don’t work for the is company.
