I had the opportunity to contribute to CHPLA in the harm reduction department in Hollywood, CA,

One of the challenges I encountered was a lack of alignment within the leadership, which resulted in difficulties comprehending emails, delayed responses, and a general lack of acknowledgment. This inconsistency made it challenging to navigate my responsibilities effectively and left me feeling undervalued as an employee.

Efforts to initiate a one-on-one meeting, aimed at addressing concerns and establishing clear expectations, unfortunately went unfulfilled despite assurances that my request had not been forgotten. This lack of communication left me feeling disconnected and unsupported.

Additionally, the delegation of significant projects often occurred at the last minute, demonstrating a lack of consideration for time management and causing undue stress. A particular instance involved coaching on ordering supplies for outreach routes, specifically Naloxone. While I was willing to take on this responsibility, it was disheartening to realize that I had not been properly trained for this task. Subsequent attempts to clarify and seek guidance were met with a dismissive response, leaving me feeling unsupported and frustrated.

In my attempt to proactively contribute, I had previously analyzed data related to Naloxone distribution and made recommendations based on historical trends. Unfortunately, these efforts went unnoticed, emphasizing a breakdown in communication and recognition of my contributions.

Moving forward, I believe fostering clear communication, timely acknowledgment of employee concerns, and providing proper training on tasks would greatly enhance the overall work experience for CHPLA team members. My hope is that this feedback will contribute to a positive and collaborative atmosphere within the organization.

Good place to work for as a stepping stone or if u are barely starting off after college. Pay starts at 58k but Mgmt made changes to only hire Jr. PA's  so it might be lower now. Benefits r pretty much standard. Kaiser is free for yourself if u add 1 dependent $500 a month if u add family $1000 a month. They contribute 6% to the 403b which is automatically vested after 1 year of service. 3 vacation weeks to start and birthday off.l week and a half of sick. You will not learn anything here except how to do AP. The job consists of 60% AP 20% data entry 20% clerical tasks. Besides that the worse problem would have to be management. Half of management is either people who have been their sooo long that the company doesn't know what to do with them so they just keep them. The other half are new and have no idea what they are doing. Also expect to have like 6 meetings every month that don't resolve anything. The work schedule is 9/80 every other Friday off. As long as you don't anger the grandfathered mgmt u will be good. Advice: act like a you are slow and they will never ask you to do more work. Do not work fast/efficient or you will be forced to help the slow employees. Mgmt already has their favorites which r the ones following in their footsteps of being there for so long. Raises range from 0-4% every year. Possible chance of bonus if u have the right portfolio.

I worked for Heluna Health for six months and I was very happy with this company and their pay - this was a project position but still was very enjoyable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is nothing stressful about working for this company, basically you are hired to work with local or state health department. If you enjoy working in the field of Public Health - you won't get bored.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As I mentioned before you are contracted to work with state or local health jurisdictions. However, you don't get to interact much with Heluna's administrative department, but people from HR are very welcoming.

Monday thru Friday - 8am to 5pm

Heluna Health is very people oriented with room for growth.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Workload can fluctuate and can become heavy & overwhelming at times. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Heluna Health is a people first company. They support their staff and help build upon their strengths while serving the greater community with respect.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My role as a Team Lead could be very demanding at times between managing and assigning case workloads, keeping up with guidelines, facilitating meetings, developing CBO partnerships & referral processes, as well as supporting teams of 5-15 people.

Heluna Health is one of those fiscal sponsors that take a large percentage of your organization’s budget (12%) yet can’t seem to provide the type of support that money would reasonable afford.  Budgets increase, they take more money, but you never understand where it’s going, because you don’t see more people on your projects team and you don’t get any HR support, training, etc.  Heluna Health is a money-driven corporate nonprofit that exploits the organizations that it allegedly “supports” through fiscal sponsorship.  Absolutely would avoid working with this company if at all possible.

Easy going, provides the opportunity to grow, supportive culture. Nice co-workers. Considerate, understanding management. 
May not get to apply all of your technical skills as much,  but may need to adapt to some  clerical type of work



The specific program I worked in started off very small and grew to basically 4 times it’s staff size in a short amount of time. I think the quality of the job has suffered as a result. Policies are constantly changing and work is consistently being added to front line workers without additional compensation or appreciation. I feel like the higher ups require more from employees to make THEIR jobs easier without taking into account the experiences of those who have to deal with clients directly. Overall the company seems very divided and there is little to no interaction between teams. Great benefits however!

I got to serve my community and work with a dope set of people while we were all serving the community

The fact that if someone doesnt like you and lies on you they dont even hear both sides out they take that persons word and react 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was very much like im above you and you will be made known of that daily 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Covid vaccinating and giving homeless the necessitys that are needed for surviving

This is a good place to work if you are passionate about helping vulnerable families, namely low socioeconomic maternal and child population. However, the management is untrustworthy and cut-throat competitive. Internal work politics is intense at the main office. They do not show enough support for their workers and am very vigilant about employees doing their work. It's not the most ideal work environment when they search employees desk unannounced, watch every single move, and discipline employees for minor mistakes and errors.

The company and team is amazing they care about you and you're wellbeing.   Lots of communication and clarification. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No stress. There always there for you.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing.  And depending where you're assignment is.

Easy going  no stress. Very relaxed environment.
