A typical day at work was treating 7-8 individual patients. Some days I had t0o complete 2-3 bio/psychosocial and treatment plans. Then, I had the responsibility of setting up A/C plan, which  was either out patient weekly counseling, intensive out patient, or continued inpatient treatment.  I learned how to collaborate with other social systems, such as: DYS, probation, drug court, and also section 35 or the process of sectioning a patient that needs a higher l4evel of care.  I worked in both dual diagnosis and inpatient psychiatric units.  I learned it is best to work with your co-workers as a team, and I never have to do my job with out supervision, or suggestions from my peers. Management was the most difficult because the primary purpose was to fill the beds,(it is a business)however, I am a patient advocate, and will work my hardest to get the patient to the next safe place.  The hardest part of my job is getting authorization from insurance to send the patient to the next safe place, provided there is placement which has been an on going problem. The most enjoyable part of my job is that helping alcoholics or addicts is my passion, and I love my profession.  It is most rewarding when I see a patient that comes up to me beaming with pride, and shows me their three month medallion. I also love group therapy, or educational groups, because I try to educate the patients, and help them learn to live a different healthy way of life.  I loved my job, and my patient's  learned a lot from me as evidence by their statements.

Over the course of just 5 years, I have worked in multiple different positions at HPTC and have enjoyed every one of them! I started with the company as an intern, and have worked my way up to a role in Administration. The room for growth within the company is excellent, and this allowed me to experience new roles as I advanced my education through receiving my BS and MA degrees. Throughout my years of working for HPTC, I have worked under some truly empathetic, kind, and intelligent managers. The majority of the skills I have developed during my time with the company have been enhanced through supervision with my bosses. There are ample opportunities for training through HPTC, which has encouraged me to challenge myself on an ongoing basis and enhance my skillset. I cannot speak highly enough about the colleagues I have worked with over the years, and many of them have turned into life-long friends. The company also offers flexibility with schedules and time off, which allows for a great work/life balance. The benefits are a great perk, but most significant to me is the fact that I have an excellent career that I enjoy and feel fulfilled in. I absolutely love the work that I do because it is meaningful and I can see the positive impact it has on others around me. Quality patient care is prioritized at all times, which makes me proud to work for a company that truly cares about the people it serves. Overall, HPTC has been an incredible company to work for, and I look forward to many more years of being here! 

The job itself is what you’d expect. Working with this demographic of people is never easy. That being said, a supportive and informative team/management would be great in instances that you are not properly trained to deal with. However, more often than not the program directors are preoccupied with being catty/spreading drama that they couldn’t be bothered to assist you. 

When you have an issue there’s not many people to turn to. You’d be lucky to receive a reply from HR at all. Everyone else in the chain of command are so tightly knit both in and outside of work that you cannot bring important issues to them. 

The best part about this job is the connections you make with individuals along the way, and being able to help them on their journey, after all that’s what we are all in this for….some people aren’t and are here to make peoples lives harder, and push the genuinely compassionate workers they have out. I found it a struggle to be texted outside of work hours about work from program directors, however when I was at work and needed to discuss work they would be nowhere to be found despite always having their phone in their hand. 

I was wrongfully let go by this company, with no communication after working here for over a year. I genuinely would stay far away from the entire company as I hear other locations are just about the same, if not worse. 




I loved my job and the work that I did there. Working with the clients and being able to help them through that transition process was one of the biggest benefits of the job for me. Going into this type of work you know that not every client is going to see the process the whole way through and that some may result back into old habits, but there are also those clients who do succeed and go on to live beautiful lives and get their children and families back, and some who even come back to the facility to visit or reach out to you to show their gratitude and tell you how much you helped them through their struggles. In those moments, knowing I had the honor of helping someone find peace within themselves and restore their life & happiness. Those priceless moments and the meaning behind them far out weighed any frustrations I would deal with at work. The sad thing is that there are employees working there that don't see how life changing their job is for the clients and to them it's just a paycheck and they have no empathy or respect for the clients. I just wish that the higher ups would do more to make sure that employees like that weren't working there.

As Receptionist you receive clients at the end stage of addiction entering treatment for detoxification. Kindness and compassion are required as most clients arrive intoxicated and can be a challenge. The staff is cooperative and assist whenever needed. Communication with staff members such as Nurses and Recovery Specialists is imperative regarding clients needs. Co-workers are amazing. 
Receiving scheduled clients for treatment, fulfilling all paperwork and entering information into various databases for billing and treatment purposes. 
If clients are in need providing them with food or beverages and assisting the staff to get them prepared for entry to the units.
Communication with both detox and soap programs. Answering phones and various office duties such as filing, order of office supplies and mail.
The hardest part of the job is when someone is resisting entry to detox. Watching the family members frustration and hearing that a client lost their battle with addiction can be heartbreaking. Thankfully the staff is there to assist in consoling and reminding us that there are other clients that have gained success over there addictions due to your contribution. 
I truly enjoyed my experience at High Point

High Point Treatment Center has a reputation of treating its employees (Clinicians, Recovery Specialists, House Cleaning Staff) very poorly. I am here to confirm these claims. The location for the Brockton campus for the Clinical Stabilization Units (CSS) has management that is both inept and punitive. The management itself does very little treat their employees fairly, are unable to carry the basic duties to run the facility to ensure the care and safety of the patients they are there to treat, nor do they show the care to their employees there to treat the patients. The COVID Protocol put forth by administration puts the building at risk for exposure, and the management itself are unable to perform the very duties they expect their employees to carry out. The Unit 4 Director should consider returning to their florist/bakery position to ensure their unit is ran more effectively and the CSS Director should stop encouraging their employees to “snitch” on each other, but rather work as a team to make the unit more productive and safe for both clients and employees  alike. If you value a company that values it’s employees and an administration that is competent, empathic and hold themselves to the same standard they hold their subordinates, look elsewhere. 

Working for high point was very stressful, there are very high expectations on both staff and clients, and management does not do a very good job at hiring, and is often running short staffed. I read a review stating "co-workers who used to be clients" as a negative statement but I dont feel that matters, I have seen a few former clients be great employees and evidence to clients that recovery is possible, I have also seen some other co-workers come into work impaired, say inappropriate things to clients, or start arguments between other staff. On the other hand, I have gained great friendships with some coworkers even outside of work. The job can also be very rewarding when you see clients who are grateful to be there and take their recovery seriously, and watch people start to make changes in their lives or just to be there to listen when needed, especially when this population can be very tough to deal with and very entitled.  Although I am very grateful for my experience working here, the people I've met, the things I've learned, and the opportunity to work in a field that I am passionate about.. I would not reccomennd working here due to the amount of stress and hard work for such a terrible pay and lack of appreciation

Worked her because I love the client population.  Upper management has no idea how hard we work to support our clients. Rate of pay very poor, HR department does not answer or return phone calls, performance reviews are never done on time usually completed anywhere from 6 months to 1 yr late, no accountability no retroactive pay.  For a person starting in the field  experience is good but is a detriment to the clients who cannot relate to the newcomer, right out of school who do not know anything about SUD, cannot speak the clients colloquial language in order to relate..most of the new clinicians can barely spell, write legibly or speak clearly--it's all about just getting a body to fill a position.  No one stays too long unless they are unemployable for some reason...

Ineffective, unskilled  maintenance staff, place is generally unkempt except for when DPH comes in for an audit.  Housekeeper -most of them work hard to try and keep the place clean.  Kitchen staff work hard also. Lots of turnover..upper management couldn't care less....don't know how this place passes inspection. "Clinical Director turnover is at an all time high....no one stays too long...maybe a year at best..

Very one sided not much to say not a very nice place to work they already had workers who had been there they didn't really have to know the work no one really  carried there weight you would have to do your work plus your own I would always have to stay overnight no one else I worked alone 3 or 4 out of 5 work days very very stressful I couldn't speak with supervisor about anything she would tell other people I was in a domestic violence relationship I was like 15 minutes late and she suspended me Monday Wednesday Wednesday cause I didn't call her but called job to let them know she passed out raises to who she wanted to when these workers didn't even know how to do intakes and other things very very stressful couldn't even take personal time off because of my DV situation very very unprofessional I quit could not take it anymore seeing the way they reall treated those clients a set up for relapse the clients would confide in me the disrespect after this experience I'm no longer a human service worker to much to deal with when you have to watch out for your boss an co workers cause there up to no good... I bet if you ask anyone who ever worked at HPJP they would have some not so great experiences working there..

The job is a great job but can get to you.  Its highly demanding and management can turn on you in a heart beat.  Working with the clients has its ups and downs as you see how much of a failure rate there is and also how little the company actually cares about the success of the clients.  My coworkers were good and bad, but unfortunately the workforce culture there is what have you done for me lately and the company doesn't care about addressing that as they continually put ill equipped individuals in positions that they are destined to fail at.  Training is 100% hands on and they throw you into the fire.  You are left to figure things out on your own without support except from your peers.  If you show up, put your head down, try not to care too much about the clients than you can probably make a career there, but if you have a strong moral compass, eventually that will get in the way.  If you can manage to stay away from the company riff raff, then you can also receive free training for higher positions allegedly.
