Staff 
Staff are wonderful, with any role as a BCBA you are able to support and train staff and you get to be the supervisor they need. You foster the culture you support.
Caseload
Caseload size is not appropriate, learners consistently being brought on without notice, staffing, or information due to virtual assessments (all) leading to a lack of understanding of the individual and poor continuity of care.
Administration
Administration is horrid, nothing but nepotism, pressure, and an unethical nightmare.
Documentation
Documentation is not done to the standard of care, it is done to prevent an audit and back pay.
Ethics
As a BCBA I should never be pressured to question ethics, if you address a concern regarding an individual, the organization or disagreement, you will be met with reprisal and retaliation.
Lack of support
Regardless of how much you advocate or request assistance it never comes, its simply met with an email response (or teams message) stating a generic response of "We're working on it, I'm always here for you, or reach out if you need me." with zero follow up and a punitive response in the future.
Listen to your staff, treat your families right, meet the standard and do better.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company has a professional and collaborative environment focused on growth, accountability, and impactful work. While the organization continues to expand it maintains a strong emphasis on employee support and encourages cross-department collaboration.

A positive aspect of the company is its commitment to professional development and internal growth. Leadership encourages employees to contribute ideas, take initiative, and continue developing within their roles. There is a constant focus on building strong teams and creating opportunities for long-term success across the organization.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As with many growing organizations, priorities can evolve quickly at times, but the overall culture remains supportive, professional, and focused on continuous improvement.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Performance is recognized and rewarded.  All are encouraged to learn, grow and become the best at what they do.

This company is heading in the direction of profits > clients/staff. They stress the importance of billable hours and are mainly concerned with growing into a massive ABA company. They continue to add clinics when they can barely manage the few that they have. Communication is lacking and changes are made to compensation without communication. Holiday pay is now no longer provided. Admin time is paid at a different rate. Will pressure you to stay with clients despite burn out.  I drove an hour from home for a session just to get canceled on and nobody told me that they were canceled. Mileage reimbursement is minimal. Technicians are literally leaving the building crying. The building itself is also just dirty and poorly constructed. I love working with my team but this company needs to shape up. 

The company was actually not very bad at all when I started two years ago, and I used to be proud to work here. For various reasons, I am no longer proud to work here and would not recommend it to others. From various flaws of upper management (horrendous HR, inconsistent and irritating scheduling, poor benefits, no support from "leadership") to the lack of in-person BCBAs or a clinical director/manager resulting in there being no one physically in charge of staff and kids, the company culture and work environment has become unbearable. Not only are there no management staff on site with all telehealth BCBAs, but there are also no cameras and they regularly hire staff with no prior experience in ABA. Is this not a massive safety risk for people's children? If you're comparing companies, I highly suggest you pick another one. 

Working at Highlights Healthcare has been a really rewarding experience. I’m especially thankful for the sense of community and support I’ve found here. The work we do for children and families feels meaningful and fulfilling, and it’s been great being able to continue growing professionally while staying connected to that mission.

One thing that stands out is how approachable and team-oriented everyone is. Communication across departments is strong, leadership is supportive, and people genuinely work together to solve problems. The culture is professional but still welcoming and positive.

The environment can be fast-paced at times, especially with growth and Medicaid/payor updates, but it also brings opportunities to learn and grow.

Watching the growth of the clients over time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is generally terrible. Management lies and generally violates their own policy then follows it when they see fit. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is chaotic to say the least. And this is chaos outside of general ASD chaos.  The culture among management is a disaster and long time employees aren’t happy.  Morale is nonexistent . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is setting up my materials for session and attempting and failing to log into the company tablet. The only support is from in house BCBAs who are wonderful. Scheduling is rapidly changing throughout the day for most techs and no one ever knows where to be due to the company schedulers.

Highlights Healthcare emphasizes and focuses on quality care and clinical excellence.  The organization is growth-minded and leadership remains focused on maintaining high standards and support of staff.

During my time at HHC, I have grown both professionally and personally.  Opportunities to grow and advance within the company have allowed me to stretch my knowledge and to be a part of something bigger than me.  Watching our teams across the state show up each day and support our learners in their development is such a blessing.  We look at each day as an opportunity to learn and come back again tomorrow with renewed focus.

They have postings for full time positions. You apply, they accept you and then tell you that everyone starts as part time then moves to full time after you get "comfortable". This is a lie. They play favorites giving particular RBTs 30-40 hrs a week while others get 12. Their "full time" moved from 30hrs to 25hrs. Instead of coaching to improve employee's skills or firing "bad" employees they just give them less hours. They're inconsistent with their clients. You will have an afternoon client every day, then they will randomly remove them from your schedule and give them to another RBT "who needs hours". They are on the lower end for pay scale which makes the lower hours worse. They truly need to implement a block scedule to make it easier for lunch breaks and RBT hours.

I can’t say enough good things about Highlights Healthcare. Even though I have been with the company for less than a year, I have felt welcomed and included by both leadership and my coworkers. Everyone is wonderful to work with, learn from, and turn to for support.

There’s a strong emphasis on supporting families while maintaining professionalism across departments. Employees are encouraged to collaborate and communicate openly, and it’s clear that people genuinely care about both the work and the individuals they work alongside. As the company continues to grow, workflows and priorities may evolve, but my experience has been consistently positive and encouraging. With so many opportunities for growth, I am proud to be an employee here and to support such a meaningful mission.

The company places an importance on employee support and maintaining a mission driven culture while continuing to grow.  I appreciate the level of collaboration across departments.  Teams work together to solve problems and improve processes.  Leadership has also shown receptive to feedback and new ideas.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It’s a fast-paced environment, and during periods of growth and operational change, you need to be adaptable and able to pivot quickly.
