It was an okay opportunity after I became a tech but very difficult to advance in a back-biting community of colleagues.

 Its old, and our department was not updated except for applying the same grey paint that was used 20 years ago. We had patient complaints daily -stating they felt like they were in a dungeon, and that the area was a throw-back to original radiology departments.

 They did finally get new portables and one new digital x-ray room in diagnostic-that's great! after years of being cut out of the budget.

However, The Heart Hospital does not get the attention it deserves from diagnostic rad department because it is soooo far away with no processors located in that area. Hopefully OHI will purchase a digital portable for that area to compensate (but don't hold your breath-Radiology was always bumped out of the budget by them)

AND the 2 digital portables belong to ER and diagnostic only.

The Staff is great as far as patient care, but day shift is overloaded and stressful for the Techs and it shows.
Second shift gives great care because it is not overloaded, and laid back individuals make up the group.
There are only 2 people over night. One upstairs and one in ER for the WHOLE hospital including ER. It seems like there should be 3 at least one who can cover surgery and balance out the AM portables.

Overall, Its a great opportunity to learn your ropes on All shifts. You'll be a better tech because of it. However Pay is bad and pay advancement is only 2%(no more than 3%) on average per year increase. Management lets you know that you're dispensable so you won't expect and increase. The Radiologist were Fantastic to work for. They were not usually moody, and always communicated what they needed from you. Most of the requests were not unreasonable, maybe a few from the new hires.

Unfortunately I was misled when I was hired on at Hillcrest South. I was told it was a professional work environment, and as someone who has worked at several larger hospitals in the area I was hoping it was what I got at the other hospitals, but was very dissatisfied. From day one the floor director Jamie Heightgrass made it a point to tell the staff anyone could be trained to do our jobs, we were there to give off a hotel feel, and be pretty and to provide the best butt kissing to our patients as we can. I was blown away that a DIRECTOR of a floor would talk to employees like this, or care how pretty we were. She made it a point to let us know we had to come to work fully made up hair and make up daily or we were at risk of losing our jobs. We were not there to give patients actual medical care, we were there to make sure patients got anything and everything they wanted, even if it meant we were to run around the hospital like bell hops trying to find them their favorite soda. This place really made me look at Hillcrest differently. They only care about their HCAP scores, which is when the patients rate their stay. They want to be at the top of the top in Tulsa, and will do what ever it takes, even if it means neglecting the patients health, but treating them like they are royals just so they will chose to deliver their child at Hillcrest South. Its sad. I saw so many patients have health issues that never got treated because they were more concerned on if the patient got their free box of muffins or their free robe placed in their room.

A typical day of work consist of filling medication request and compounding medications,Iv room , Stocking pyxis machines, answering phone calls, dealing with emergency situations concerning the patients in the hospital . 

I have learned how to develop more skills that i can utilize towards my job. As well as how to better communicate on a medical level with fellow employees. Also My compounding skills have developed more due to the fact hospitals compound more medications then nursing homes and retail pharmacy. In general it has helped broaden me as a pharmacy tech. 

My management team is awesome. They really do care about the hospital and about there staff. Sometimes it does not feel like they do. However really its not them its the company not really fixing issues and or problems 

The hardest thing about my job is that there is only two technicians on my shift and sometimes we really could use another person. But we always find a way to make it work. 

The people i work with really do care about one another for the most part. Bosses are always willing to jump in and help the technicians out if we need it. They do not care if its stocking a shelf running a medication to the floor and or answering phone calls.

Self motivation position. Assigned areas must be visited daily, staff, patients and family members were all included. Started with meeting with nurses in each area and discussing new patients and old to identify needs. Write out information and complete visitations for that area before moving on to the next. If on-call for the day, meet the chaplain assigned to the area of code call and coordinate care/visitations.
I learned many things about interactive care, respect of others, interfaith discussions as well as many other important aspects of Chaplaincy.
Co-workers were other students that were also learning and expanding their areas of expertise. We were supportive of each other. The hardest part of the job was the on-call nights after a full day of class, visitations and staff meetings. If there was only visitations and then on-call it was not bad. The most enjoyable part of the job was the companionable relationship among the staff in all areas. Also the priviledge of hearing the stories of the patients and being allowed into their world. Feelings of having made or making a difference for many there.

This review is about the OR specifically.  You will be lucky to get a lunch break at all, even if you work 12+ hours. Supervisors will do minimum help while the rest of the staff run around stressed out all day to get things done. When you do finally get a lunch it wont be until 8 hours into your shift. This includes water break, bathroom, and food. Management still thinks staff is "lucky to have a job" even though there are other places that pay more and treat staff better. When you work weekend on call you will be there from anywhere between 8-16 hours without a lunch. Management will lack help or sympathy and still demand turnover times be faster even though they are low staffed. Management staffs as a small crew on purpose and will leave employees high and dry in the evenings. Staff continually have to stay late every shift even if they are not scheduled to. You will be asked to work 24 hours or more, in a row, if you are on call and someone calls in. This is an unsafe environment, not only for patients but also staffs mental and physical health. Beware, it will not change. Do not work here.

A typical day would start with making breakfast for the patients or if I was cafeteria then the  breakfast for cafeteria.  After the clean up of breakfast I would start on lunch for both patients and cafeteria, time in between would be the fixing of desserts or salads, at the end of the day would be the clean up of kitchen per state and company guidelines.
I enjoyed creating new salads or desserts that were used on the salad bar, or learning new ways to prepare or serve foods from my coworkers. Everyone has their own way of preparing and or doing a task and learning from them is what help me become efficient in the way I cook, clean communicate and so forth.  Management was great and always around to help if needed and to advise if something didn't go quite right.
I would have to say the hardest but most enjoyable part of the job was making sure that all foods were ready and served at the times needed and the amounts were just enough but never to much.  I loved the challenge of having everything done on time.

Desktop Support in Healthcare field which requires accurate and timely response to customers computing needs in order to serve patient needs.
Unfortunately, previous mismanagement has created a lack in accurate documentation for known issues resulting in reinventing the wheel on a daily basis resulting in customers suffering by having issues addressed in a timely manner. This has caused co-worker complacency in job functions including documentation of software installation and configuration. This coupled with a lack of manpower results in technical staff continually being behind in meeting customer needs.
This is the hardest thing to deal with on a daily basis. and when facing customers.
Thankfully, my previous employ with the company that Ardent Health utilizes their software has allowed me to bring my experience to the job to assist customers with getting issue resolution.
This is the most enjoyable part of my job, meeting and exceeding customer expectation.

I was reluctant to accept the job there as they said that they would not pay me what I was previously making. I think it was a good decision for the time. I needed income and insurance. however. I had to wait 30 days to be eligible for benefits and then another 30 days beore they kicked in. it was a nightmare. not to mention the cost of the insurance being so absorbant that I hardly have any net pay left over. Don't get me wrong the insurance is great, But why would a company that hires so many people through (Ardent their parent company) have insurance that leaves many of their employees living at or below the poverty wage at the end cost. The lunch breaks I ad to get use to also a 30 minute lunch and sometimes so busy had to just tell them I'm going to lunch and that is that. I love my co-workers and the patients that's why I've been in Healthcare or about twenty years so I keep going back for more. Management has been good so far so it sotens the blow a bit.

Worked with many departments in the Hospital as well as Nurses techs and Doctors to transport patients from Hospital rooms to tests and back once again.  Learned how to make the patients comfortable and how to use the floor Nurses and Tech to aid in that task.  Helped calmed the patient down and gave them comfort. Tuck orders from management and completed each task given.  Worked well with every person in the Hospital and had the respect of all I came into contact with.  Excellent recommendations from high up staff members that watched me preform day after day.  The hardest part of the job was time constraints on staff and paper work that need to be done in order to transport a patient. Most enjoyable part was working with the patients and getting them to trust me.  I am a people orientated person and they can see that by my actions on the job.  I loved this job more then any other job I have had the people are very special to me.

Apathetic management and for-profit mentality over staff and patient safety. Poor leadership from floor to administration. If there is a complaint about how things are done, or if management receives poor scores on yearly reviews, there is retaliation from floor management. So in turn you have floor staff that walks on egg shells, keeps their head down, and just does what they are told to do no matter how unsafe. For those staff members who play the game well, there is favoritism shown. Reminded me a lot of high school. Lacks professionalism.
