Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance

All my managers were excellent and devoted to helping me succeed. All coworkers were helpful and helped feel part of the company. Overall HCI is a great company if you are starting out and looking for company to build with that does not involve the Independent Adjuster route. My only qualm is their claims system, it could be way more user friendly like with what other companies like Allstate uses, NextGen, American Family, and Liberty Mutual.

My team and the end of my shift.

The unethical leaders, and unfair treatment of employees, 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was somber no one looked forward to coming in the office,and very divided

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working 10 hours days at a minimum

If you're not Greek or Indian, you'll never be fully accepted. The board of directors is dysfunctional, as is all upper management.  They are all afraid of the president / CEO and follow his every word blindly.  The HR dept frequently tries to hire from outside of the area, because of the negative reputation locally. Worse yet, their core business model (Citizens takeouts) has dried up and they are doing next to nothing to replace or grow business.

You are just another number at this company. Management is very nice to your face and gives off the impression of the “we’re all of a family here” mindset, but it’s fake. As soon as you inform them you’re leaving, they send you to HR to do an exit interview and say nothing to you - no goodbyes, no words of appreciation. The pay is horrible, but the schedule is flexible. 

Positive atmosphere with a fantastic employees/management, compensation, and benefits. One of the best places I have ever worked. The company has genuine concern and care for each employee!

Some great people, and good business plans, but ultimately the communication and management from the top down is too dysfunctional for long-term success. Their HR dept is forced to look for hires outside of the Tampa market area, because of the local reputation earned, unfortunately, over years of not treating people well.

I started working at HCI group shortly after Hurricane Irma. My time there was wonderful.  From the moment of my interview, I knew HCI was the company for me.  Excellent culture and benefits. Wonderful group of people to work with. If it wasn't for my husband having to relocate, I would still be working there.

High case load with no support for attorneys or litigation examiners. Salary is average, but the bonus is a joke. Management is rude. Company prefers to overwork existing staff than replace employees who leave. 

Pros: 
*great boss and supervisors. Not a toxic work environment. If you need help they are there to help
*hybrid 


Cons:
*too many cases (over 100)  with little support staff
*severely underpaid compared to other in-house positions in the area
* bonuses are a joke and depends on how the company is doing 


Run of the mill adjuster role. The company does not like change and a lot of the processes in place are outdated. There is not a lot of room for growth and the available resources to do your job are severely lacking.
